      I don't know nothing. Having said that, is there a way to prevent that?
      I came here in a serie of "DIY hidrogen gas from water" videos and wich they said that to prevent the flashback a guy put ciggarette filters in the pipe, another guy put glass fiber; and another guy put (i think) like... ...(don't know how to say it, i'm from Argentina)... the metal shaving for wash the dishes.
      Also in all those diy hydrogen they use a second mini vessel with water and air between the hydrogen production and the blowtorch. Could it be implemented in this kind of proyect?
      Are these workarounds effective?

    This gentleman MUST be Russian. If not, I apologise. Although it is very interesting, I have concerns over its safety. Commercial torches have flashback arrestors, which do not allow the flame to travel down the tube and into the gas bottle. I did not see such a device on this. If I have missed seeing such a device on this tool, then I must apologise once again. If it is safe then it will be most useful to jewellers so that they can "weld" jump rings, such that closed link chains can be made. Please carry on making these "unusual" items, stay safe so that we can enjoy your work for many years. 👍

  • @terrencezellers9105
    @terrencezellers9105 Год назад +2

    As with all of these kinds of vids, can someone please explain why I would invest so much time, effort and anxiety into doing this when for about $15 (probably about the cost of the materials you used if you didn't have most of them laying around....) you can buy a torch that probably leaks less, is hotter, more controllable and is considerably less likely to accidentally burn your spheres off?
    I mean its cool you can do this with improvisted materials and such, ... but how much time did you take in trial and error on technique and particulars before getting it right? .... Come the zombie apocalypse I suppose it might get you by an incident if you had to desparately McGyver your way through something ... but the odds overall of being dead before you get there makes the practice of *this* particular (likewise most similar for small tools ... that you will probably be able to scrounge anyway) seems in my calculation to make the exercise pointless.
    (Ok showing younglings that it *can* be done has something going for it in showing that the commercial products aren't magic but just refinements of what *can* be done by any reasonably skilled tool-user is perhaps worthwhile .... but those ever likely to be able to pull this off if it were ever desperately needed already knew that, almost by definition.)

      When you don't have $15 dollars, you do with what you have. Many people in the world don't have the financial resources to buy tools.

    • @terrencezellers9105
      @terrencezellers9105 Год назад

      @@BigBlueMotors The likelihood of having all the parts you need to build this(and most other YT build it yourself smaller tools) just lying around without having to buy something (or more likely *things*) that will be close to the cost of a small torch anyway are small. Theres some cost benefit in that you'd wind up with excess materials that *might* be usable for other things, ... but unless you have *huge* storage space and lots of (expensive!) organizing bins storing all of what you *might* someday use is a losing proposition. I've found this out the hard way in a 20x25 garage plus an electronics bench in the basement. There's just no way to usably save
      *everything* that might be useful. So it's theoretically possible that you *might* have scroungables to do this but 99% of the time, other than for giggles or possibly teaching a youngster something about how things work it's very much a "what's the point".
      There's also the problem of consumables when you use scrounged. Sure you might scrounge the propane, once. ... but comes time to replace it, you're going to spend almost the cost of a torch buying a new bottle. And if you do scrounge one, is the same fitting going to be usable your will you need to improvise a new one? It's the whole issue with DIY ... replaceability. I buy a product and there are going to be replacement parts either OEM or after-market. Something built scrounge and scratch... and a part breaks or wears out ... well you might not be able to scrounge exactly the same, and may wind up having to rebuild all or part of your project. That gets exponentially more expensive in time as the number of must-have-every-day tools you've DIY'd goes up.
