Sounds pretty normal. Very few people coming into a franchise like this don’t know much, if anything, regarding Star Wars and what it actually is as opposed to what Disney thinks it is and wants it to be.
To be fair on the dictator part, the senate until the first Death Star had some authority. But to say that palpatine wasn’t a dictator ignores the absolute power that the senate had already cheerily given him both during the clone wars and at the end in revenge of the sith.
I would love to read the history of film in the Nazi culture, and the plots and basis for the movies and art released as they were grooming the culture to go along with their plans
Who cares. She’s just an actor. Her job isn’t to be a fan of the franchise. Her job is to play an important character and bring that character to life to the best of her ability. That’s all you can expect of an actor. You think Alec Guinness or Harrison Ford gave two shits about their character even though they played them so well? Nope. Its just a job to them. You don’t have to be a fan of something to do a great job bringing a character to life.
@@youtubeistryingtocensorme HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! Evidently you cared enough to respond to an over seven month old comment!!!! Go back to playing with your infantile ninja turtles, troll, and wash your filthy mouth out while you're at it! It's as simple as this: IF YOU DON'T DO YOUR HOMEWORK, YOU DON'T DESERVE THE JOB, PERIOD! Sir Alec wouldn't have become such a renowned actor if he didn't care enough about his roles to research and understand them; you can't be expected to PLAY Shakespearean if you don't KNOW Shakespeare! Ford's on/off-screen chemistry with Mark, Carrie, Peter, and the rest is viable testament that he obviously cared enough to make it work. Samuel Jackson, Liam Neeson, Haydn Christensen, Temuera Morrison, etc ALL KNEW AND UNDERSTOOD THE STORY AND THEIR ROLES, AS WELL AS BEING FANS BEFORE BEING CAST. Look, you don't have to be a fanatic zealot of the franchise, but you MUST comprehend the STORY and your ROLE in it in order to do your job effectively; that is what is meant by the term "caring". The same holds true in EVERY industry! You don't hire an atheist to teach Sunday school at church, you don't hire a medical doctor to repair your car engine, you don't hire a painter to run diagnostics on a fighter jet, you don't hire a plumber to paint your family portrait, etc. Just like you should expect someone who works at a hardware store to know what hardware is on what shelf, and knows how to answer questions about their products, same thing goes for reenactors knowing their history, and photographers knowing their way around a camera, or botanists knowing their plants. If you want a job done right, you've got to hire someone who not only knows and understands what they'll be doing, but also willing to put forth the effort and do their due diligence; if you don't care enough about doing your job right, you become sloppy and lazy, PERIOD. In the case of this video, in hollyweird, and elsewhere, people are often hired not on the basis of merit or talent, but rather on the basis of identity (hence "Affirmative Action"), and WHO you know in the industry; such practices lead to the influx of bad actors and lax people who don't want to do their job. An actor/actress has to tell, and sell, a story ---- how can they tell or sell a story if they don't KNOW the story in the first place? THEY CAN'T, because then all they're doing is just reading lines off of a script, and anybody with half a brain doesn't want to watch that. I can't help it if your standards are lax.

I haven't seen the show yet but space is a big place so I'm still holding on to some hope that maybe the show takes place in a part of space that the empire hasn't been able to reach yet
Imagine working on these films, how amazing getting that news of being hired for Star Wars would be, working thru the creation and publication, and having your friends and family over to watch your episode or all the episodes, and having to see the stupified and seriously disappointed looks on everyone's face wondering what the hell they are just watched. And not being able to speak up or try to get their train wreck back on the tracks. I feel for those folks, I really do
I'll challenge this argument. Tony Gilroy did reference the supplementary material. Ironically thus proves that you haven't watched the series. Mon Mothma is not featured extensively within novels.
@@NotMySTARWARS I already know that. And that Tony Gilroy is kicking the Canon too. What I'm saying is that Genevieve O'Reilly talks about what happens in the series. She is an actress, not the director, not the writer, not the producer. Her job is to interpret what is asked of her, not to know the Canon. And even though she knows it, since she played Mon Mothma in the RoTS deleted scenes, her job is to play and promote this series, can we at least agree on that?

Doesn't mean she's dumb; she's simply not an avid Star Wars geek. Even I have trouble keeping up with the effed up canon timelines. And as for the novels...such a bore, barely pass as literature; Star Wars belongs on film
Go watch Battlestar Galactica: the plan, with the commentary... The female producer wasn't involved with earlier seasons but she did her research and made good positive decisions for the movie... Unlike anyone at Disney... #selllucasfilms
I never said she was dumb, but it would be wise to either A) Hire people that know SW or B) Educate them so they don't look foolish. In the end what this shows us is that Disney Lucasfilm is clueless, never mind the actors.
It wouldn't matter how clueless the actors are if we were guaranteed quality tv, but that's rarely the case these days. I'm glad this show is ok. Most dumb shows generally tend to unleash their actors so they can blurt all kinds of crap (Rings of Power) in Genevieve's case she actually assumed the SW novels were essential. I find her incredibly attractive, btw, but only as that character; she loses her appeal in interview with the long hair and make up
@@ExistentHope I appreciate your point but to me the novels are dull as hell because Star Wars simply doesn't translate well to literary form at all; it's just not that type of media, it's space opera that has to be SEEN. I tried reading a few of these light novels when I was younger but it was like reading slightly well-written fan fiction, which is basically what it was; George Lucas didn't write novels but even if he did he wouldn't write true science fiction but that's not what he was trying to do. Read anything by Stephen Baxter, just one page, and you'll see the gulf between hard sci-fi and Star Wars.

as a hardcore prequels and original triliogy fan who generally despises anything disney is now creating, i have to say, i like andor so far.
Mando season 1 and Andor are really the only good Disney Star Wars products

This is why I research a long-running franchise before adapting or starring in it.
