16th March 2023 Hi Dion. It's wonderful to see your joy to be in the company of, George Bohanon. It's imperative that musicians of his ability are interviewed so their legacy is added to the archive on RUclips of wonderful musicians. I first heard him playing in 1976 on the song "If you don't Believe" by Deniece Williams when I was young. The plaintive solo he played at the end of that song is truly sublime. Keep on keeping on with your informative channel. Enjoy the rest of your day and sending good vibes London.
George is my fathers RIP best friends since the 1970s. I visited his home multiple times with my father and became best friends with George’s son. I met Stevie Wonder for the first time at George’s home. George has always been a peaceful guy. If you mention Rick Overton to George he might get chills and sorrow because not only were they best friend but my father was a masterful piano player with Jazz. It’s good to see George still well and alive.
Nice interview. I also like the image of James Baldwin behind you. Love him. Thanks for this channel. I have a dystonia too and I can't believe I found you. You have helped me a lot. Thanks for all of it!
I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel. Sorry to hear you are dealing with Dystonia. It’s a slow road back but it really made me fall in love with the process again. James Baldwin is one of my favorites as well!😉
Most. Of trombonist talk of JJ, Curtis Fuller, Slide Hampton, Frank Rosilino, Bill Watrous, Fontana, etc........BUT ILL BE HONEST.....I pattern my playing after the great GEORGE BOHANNON......those sessions he did with KARMA......WOW

Thanks for doing this! Paul Riser said in an interview that George Bohanon was his biggest influence in music
He should be more players biggest influence. He’s an amazing trombonist and a even better person!

This is my favorite interview so far!! George Bohanon is a true living legend!
An absolute legend. There are still so many things we didn't discuss, I could probably do a 5 part series with him.
