the problem with volume eating

.
I've been there. I've filled my tummy with huge bowl of iceberg lettuce or plates of cauliflower rice and thought "Man! I'm SO full! This is great!" but I found myself in the pantry 20 minutes later going to town on the stale oreos because my body needed not just volume but actual calories and carbs. 🤦♀️
.
Yes, the stretch receptors in our stomachs are one way that our bodies tell us we're full but that's not the only way. Our bodies know the difference between just volume and actual nourishment. ➡️ Studies have shown that the volume of consumed food had a small and short effect on satiety. Meaning, that maybe you’ll feel full immediately but your body will quickly realize its faux fullness and the hunger will come in 🔥 H-O-T 🔥 ! Like I said, our bodies are smarter than that and they will know when they need more energy.
.
If you're currently eating massive volumes of food in order to "curb" your hunger and lose weight or prevent gain be sure to download the free e-book linked below that talks about the science behind our weight, if it's really in our control, and what might happen to yours when you stop stuffing it with iceberg lettuce only.

I think volume eating is good for certain situations like if you're going to watch a movie and would usually eat a whole bag of chips then it might be better to eat something with equal volume but lower calories. But I don't think it's a good idea for actual meals.
That's what I do
That’s what I do I was craving chips bad and new one serving wouldn’t satisfy me in that moment as I wanted a snack. So I decided on an orange some blue berries and two rice cakes with half a tbsp of peanut butter. Same
Amount of calories as 14 lays chips and way more filling and satisfying because I’m way more likely to have 2 servings of chips or even the whole bag
Honestly it’s just what I do when I forgot to eat for a bit and am about to pass out so I don’t feel sick afterwards. I’ll have something calorically dense first, but since I still feel hungry I’ll down a ton of nutrition dense food because I’ve convinced myself that I’m starving.
yeah like i sometimes have frozen grapes instead of popcorn when i watch movies at home. it’s slower, there’s a lot more water, and makes me feel full short term :)
I think the problem is the mindless overeating during the movie.
Volume eating still helps a lot especially for poeple that are very hungry. It’s true that if you go too low on calories you wil still be hungry afterwards but there are foods that fill you more than others regardless of the amount of calories. Nothing wrong with volume eating especially when you want to lose weight
Nah, your stomach gets used to it and then, not only that it doesn't work, but you don't get satified from calorie dense food.
@@PeaceOfMake I don’t know if that is true or not to be honest but it does seem to work for a lot of poeple and it does for me too (especially diet soda you can drink it without worrying about the added calories on it). That’s my view and eating low calorie filling foods works for a lot of poeple because it makes them full for longer and it works for me too.
On the flip side, the obsession with volume eating and as few calories in a bigger package does make information for people like me, who do not feel hunger and struggle with early satiety even more niche and hard to find.
The amount of "Just eat lol" I get hit with is staggering and it's like...forcing food in is not going to get nutrition in, considering that if I force more in my stomach than it wants, my stomach is going to forcibly remove it.
And I'm just sort of having to dig through the mass amount of zero calorie or high protein low calorie bullshit and spend vastly more money on higher calorie foods because people are obsessed with low calorie everything.
It does harm specific groups of people, is all I'm saying.
@@CatStockings calorie dense food is literally all around you, are you kidding me
@@CatStockings Zero calorie food is significantly more expensive then calorie dense food.
It's true that eating a high volume of something that isn't nutritionally dense like a head of lettuce isn't really helpful for most people, but as someone who has struggled with binging and weight loss, volume eating healthier nutritious and lower calorie foods has helped me tremendously to make progress on my goals (e.g. a large portion of a lower fat curry or stew full of carrots, kale, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, etc with tofu and rice, or if i want dessert a large bowl of yogurt/peanut butter/apples, etc.). Giving up volume feels too restrictive and if I eat smaller portions of something higher in calories I will absolutely end up binging on something that isn't healthy later.
There are many paths to healthy eating, do what works best for you ❤
This!! I was thinking the same thing. You kinda need a mix. Being able to eat the normal portion of nutrition rich foods, but then redirecting to thise volume foods when you binge, so you dont end up binging high calorie foods
exactly
Volume eating includes fat, protein and carbs. It’s not eating cheeseburgers or whipped egg whites in volume, but maybe a salad with lots of fiber and protein, or using potato slices to dip in a veggie based dip with a sandwich or soup. When I eat this way I feel so satisfied and no, my hunger doesn’t come back stronger. I am satiated. I also eat less snacks this way or less “quick” foods like fast food.
I was looking for comments of people actually knowing what volume eating is that do it right. I personally have to eat that way to control my binge eating. I eat 3 big meals and I don't get super hungry in between because it's all balanced.
@@lizpimentel2566 exactly! volume eating only thing that helps keep binging away
In theory keto isn't high protein, but look at all the people giving themselves kidney trouble. The ED folks latched onto volume eating; I've ran into so many posts that are like "instead of two pancakes, eat a whole watermelon" and "for dessert eat two pounds of gelatine with sweetener and almost zero nutrient" and "don't eat a single balanced burrito, you can eat vegetable stuffed lettuce until you're sick". Tbf that bowl does look yummy, and it doesn't seem unhinged either, so maybe not the best video to stitch
Exactlyyyyyyyy. Volume eating only works with the foods that GIVE you the nutrients she’s talking about. Instead of eating the 3 sq inch cake with 8,000 calories (per serving (there are 12 servings)), eat the chicken salad, eggs, smoothie from the blender, cocoa chocolate, and the 3 apples and instead eat only 1500 calories and feel completely full with all the sugars, fats, protein, and healthy carbs that you ACTUALLY need. She’s talking in this video as though people are eating empty calorie McDonald’s for volume eating.
volume eating works so well for me. im so confused how she can consider volume eating could lack calories, or macros, or fuel. ur still eating food. ur still putting energy in ur body. this works for me
I think she means volume eating foods that aren’t nutritionally satisfying like nine mangoes
@@kateendrews46 thats the thing though, most volume eaters are just eating lots of lower calorie foods such as vegetables and lean meats - its one of the healthiest ways of dieting in my opinion
@@pep-167 I understand that but why not just eat some calorie dense food in moderation and not spend your money on fifty plums?
@@kateendrews46 eating fifty plums is not what volume eating is.
why would I eat calorie dense food in moderation when i can eat more food that tastes just as good, and makes me feel good?
@@kateendrews46 volume eating does not equal mono eating.
I've done volume eating, I'd feel uncomfortable and bloated for ages and then switch to ravenous in an instant.
i used volume eating a lot when recovering from my binge eating disorder. i ofc went to therapy and continue therapy to help with what caused my binge eating but sometimes the urge to binge and be full of food would be so strong that i would just volume eat something. it helped and i didn’t feel guilty like i would have after a binge.
That's a good idea, why didn't I think of this
This rings soooo true for me- if o deliberately try and fill up on “good/healthy” foods I usually feel psychologically hungry 30 minutes later- like I just feel like even though my stomach is still full, I’m craving something more substantial!?- it’s a weird feeling because I know that volume wise I would struggle to fit anything else in my stomach, but my body just doesn’t “feel” full”
I never knew what the heck was going on!- thanks so much for these videos!
me toooo!!!
Volume eating does not mean that you eat like a rabbit, it means that you include more vegetables and fruits in your menu, in combination with carbohydrates and fat, like eating a salad with a slice of pizza, I also become satisfied because I eat something that I like, and also get nutrients i need.
That's the issue with these influencers- they aren't focused on you eating a nice healthy balance with variety + something good for volume to help you feel full, they want you to *exclusively* eat the volume foods and disregard everything else.
I.E.: Instead of eating a healthy, well-balanced salad with some protein and carbs like croutons, they think you should just eat a bowl full of iceberg lettuce.
Or like you said, a slice of pizza with a salad on the side, they instead just opt for the salad and ignore the pizza altogether.
Or instead of just eating two of the cookies they really want, they eat 5 rice cakes until they're too full for the cookie. The problem with this second one here is they do not stop craving the cookie, and usually eat it on top of the rice cakes and everything else.
Volume eating isn't a bad thing so long as you're doing it because it makes your body feel good- and in order to do that, you need to include a healthy balance of what your body needs- and this includes carbs and healthy fats, which they try so hard to cut out.
I do not feel satisfied no matter what I eat unless I volume eat. Doesn’t matter if it’s steak or salad. I need a lot or I just continue to feel ravenous. I can’t volume eat everything so sometimes the low calorie options ARE good for volume eating.
To whoever sees this:
Just remember to never rely on what a random person online tells you to do with your diet or eating habits. What she says may be true for some people, but if you feel like volume eating works for you then you don’t have to listen. What works for you may not work for someone else, remember that.
Exactly, her content is becoming off putting. She seems to be constantly shaming people for trying to incorporate ‘tools’ to eat healthier.
@@roroh9818 Yeah, and the always preaching not to count calories or no to restrict. Restrictions and counting calories doesn't have to be bad, those are tools to control bad eating habits. In most of her videos I don't hear her mentioning that some people cannot just eat intuitively because of the addition to food. It's like saying: "I can have a drink, why couldn't you?" To an alcoholic
Thank you for the realness!
I volume eat hot chips 😭 Lol..
Fiery Poops after lol
@@McButtsTheCrimeDog I eat a lot of spicy food and chips but have never had fiery poop, is it actually that bad lol
You are helping more people than you know. This kind of education should be included in health classes at school.
Also its about what works for YOU and what makes you feel good. If volume eating works for you and you still get the calories and nutriens you need then it may work♡ stay safe loves and listen to your body
I get what your trying to say, and appreciate the solid advice! Not lost on this lifelong dieter, thank you!
Something that I’m personally working on in my ED recovery is the concept of “your tummy does not need to be stuffed to the brim to feel satisfied”. Volume eating is one of my biggest ED traits and I’m finally starting to learn that i can feel satisfied without filling my stomach with water and lettuce :)
So true! I‘ve done this, it only led to binge eating always after a while. Also I got so tired of eating so much.
i do volume eating, and I feel so full with my meals
I agree 👍. I found that high fat cheese or bacon and eggs are more filling.
I like green veggies but you need some fat with it.
I tried volume eating and would be absolutely stuffed, but my body felt like it was starving. My cravings got so bad during that time. It was wild. I learned a valuable experience from that, having balance across my meals is important for satiety and cravings. Good stuff thank you!
I eat a lot of veggies and I feel like it helps me feel satisfied from a meal when I otherwise wouldn't. I tend to eat until the food is gone. So the tactic helps me but its not the only thing i eat.
I used volume eating at times where I would usually have binged… it helped me curb my desire to binge eat while I worked through the emotional issue that caused the binge eating in the first place… but overdoing it with the volume did eventually have the exact effect you mentioned, my stomach would be painfully full almost all day but I still felt unsatisfied. I now use that lesson - that high volume foods can aid satiety and enjoyment - but I also include some calorie dense foods in my meal to keep feeling full and satisfied after my meal has “settled”. Over time as my relationship with food improved, I was able to eat smaller volumes of food and still feel satisfied. I still eat loads of high volume non starchy veg because I really like them and theyre nutritious, but can I also eat bread, pasta and white rice without paring it with something high volume if I want to. I had to retrain my brain to learn that satiety =/= stretched tummy. Lol, I still use volume eating as a solution to the munchies though, no matter how healed I am weed still makes me munch 😂
For my wight loss choosing food with high fiber and low calories worked very well .
They fill me up and because they take longer to process , it takes longer for body to get hungary .
And I did something else thet really helped . I give myself semi free weekends. Which means I either don't stay on dirt or make it way lighter on the weekends. It motivates me to stay on diet in the weekdays and the same time cravings don't bother me cause I xan eat them on weekends . Aldi my body doesn't go on save energy mode because of the low calories mode .
As someone who got obese from a bingeing problem, volume eating is something that actually helped me lose a lot of weight simply by changing the type of food I was gorging on. It has also helped me grow a way more positive relationship with food, which I eventually hope will lead me to having a healthier mindset around it too.
Volume eating is not a bad thing. It is very helpful, especially for people who are trying to come back from being obese.
And yeah if I'm having a 600 calorie dinner, I would rather that be a large portion over a small one.
Same, I'm looking up recipes for high volume low cal meals bc it's not necessarily what I'm eating, it's how much. I like eating, and it's a problem lol
yes exactly. the problem with these “the problem with __” is that they jump to conclusions about helpful methods and only focus on one negative while ignoring all positives
Works for me- keeps me full! Lots of protein, lots of veg and I even eat carbs- dropping weight and never feel deprived - her message is bad
That is just a bandaid that doesn't address the real reason why you aren't satisfied with a normal portion of food. You are not recovered if you cannot sit down and be content with a normal portion of food. Trust me, I've been there. Eventually the bandaid will fall off.
@@Raven74408 that is very true. Volume eating isn’t something that is meant to work long term but it can actually really help people start getting healthier. Feeling satisfied with smaller portions it’s important but for a lot, volume eating is quite a good step to creating healthy habits even if it is indeed only a bandaid
This is so helpful to me, thank you so much for these explanations 🤍🤍🤍
I use volume eating for snacks as I already like to eat a lot, when eating actual meals I do eat healthy; fats, fiber, and protein. I understand, like anything, it can be misused.
i’m not a snacker at all, so I do this waayy to often
i’ll have a huge brunch-like meal and then eat my regular dinner
Me too I also find snacks never ever satiate so I’ll probs way over eat if I eat in small bits all day.
omg this is actually so relevant to me… I have chronic pain and fatigue, also adhd, autism, and IBS. It’s really hard for me to figure out what to eat on a good day and on a bad day I get worried about foods hurting my stomach and end up avoiding them altogether….
I often crave veggies, specifically and especially lettuce because it’s leafy and crunchy and has NO flavor so my sensitive autistic self can always taste the yummy nothingness without overloading myself. but I get hungry in like five minutes. and I always try to eat more and more and more food but never get full for real, or else even have the sensation of feeling full but also hungry and craving something. My mom was like “well you’re not going to feel full with just a huge bowl of lettuce and a couple cheese sticks” earlier today. She always has good advice, but this also explained it to me on a scientific level, which is nice too! I feel like an aha moment, like “OHHH I just need to eat something that makes me full!” but also like “hhh… what is that?” because I thought protein made you full and just eating cheese and meat and eggs isn’t helping either… though I do tend to eat smaller portions of those things because I get sick of the taste and texture and bloating faster….
I love that you warn people of potential harmful diet fads. It may work for some people but ultimately your body needs a balanced diet. Some people may ignore that and it will backfire
I did volume eat for about 5 years, it worked for weight loss but it was so tiring having to always eat so much! Now I am learning to eat regular sized meals. I am also learning to incorporate those foods I volume ate, I now struggle enjoying them.
Nice advice
I started volume eating and lost so much weight, but then it got hard to keep going because I was hungry all the time. It wasn’t until I combined a mixed approach of volume eating along side nutrient rich foods that I was able to keep going in my weight loss journey.
Volume eating is great if your diet is almost completely carbs because you’re always hungry. You can switch out some of the carbs (not all!!!) with protein and vegetables and thus have more variety and probably more nutrition.
I could eat a whole bag of pasta a day as one meal… I need volume eating before I turn diabetic
Volume eatting needs to be paired with some non-volume foods. As an example would be a large sales with lots of chicken and cheese with a nice pasta on the side to go with it. The salad is the Volume and the chicken and cheese act as proteins and fats and the pasta is the carbs plus some additional fats. Pair that with a nice dressing and sauce and say a scoope (or three) of sherbert for dessert for suger.
As someone who is on a cut volume eating is my day to day life
It’s all about balance. Having a proper amount of protein, healthy fat, fiber, and complex carbs at each meal is what will keep you full and satisfied. Of course, determining the proper amount for your body is the difficult part, and not obsessing over food is another challenge. I estimate my numbers and try to have my plate broken up into 3rds with a protein, a green veggie, and a starch. It’s working well for me, but everyone is different.
I couldn’t do this bc I’m v neurodivergent and it causes much different digestion than most ppl (if you are nd in anyway you probably understand this deeply 🤣) so I have to eat smaller things more frequently to keep my system moving. If I eat a big volume meal it can take me a couple days to finish digesting and causes stomach pains for those days. Sometimes our stomachs don’t wanna be pushed to the limit! You can hack how your stomach feels but you can’t hack your brain or digestion, it’s gonna do what it does and be fuels based on what you put in if it’s the right things for you!
It’s been working for me. I eat 2 meals a day. High protein, lots and lots of veg. Some fruit - Keeps me so full! The trick is lots of protein.
As a light eater, I agree. I eat less than my family and still end up full. It's not about how much you eat. It's about the amount of ENERGY you get from your food. If you really want to be healthy, instead of starving yourself or something, instead eat healthy foods. Now, this doesn't mean don't eat grocery store food. It means eating stuff like fruits, veggies, nuts, and stuff with meaningful carbs
VALUME
ma'am, all great points, but it's volume.
I ran into this issue when I was vegan! I basically ate volume but was never satisfied because I was low protein.
I had a Bing eating disorder, volume eating helped that a bunch and I’m 25kg down
that shit expands your stomach
Volume eating seems like it can be good for snacking and side dishes, but I agree it shouldn’t replace the main course.
Volume eating is great when I need to lose the holiday weight…I overeat during the holidays (like a lot of us do), ending up in a 6-7 pound weight gain…so once the holidays are over, portion control becomes difficult and I feel hungry all the time. But eating large volumes of nutrient dense veges (for eg) really do the trick for me…I just make sure to season my food really well so it tastes good too. I reduce the food volume over time until I get back to eating a normal portion, and then I add back the fats. It really depends on the person and the situation. If you’re prone to binge eating and food addiction, and you have weight to lose, it could work for you. Just don’t make it a long term habit, we need our healthy fats too, and volume eating is typically very low in fat.
Volume eating is just lower calorie binging. I hate the trend.
if ur hungry after volume eating the volume just wsnt big enough
I'm tired of people thinking they know everything yeah in some ways volume eating is not good I struggle with comfort eating I have days where I binge eat I eat normal filling breakfast and dinner but I Volume in between and it has helped me lose weight And feel full one thing I Volume eat is iceberg lettuce cheese sour cream pico degio along with drinking water it has helped me lose weight
She's a registered dietician though? So I think she knows about nutrition.
@@Ranixo286 they're allowed to be incorrect too. Different dieticians have different approaches that work for different people. She just gave a blanket statement discouraging something that works for a lot of people. That's not promising.
@@Ranixo286 yes, but a dietitian also needs to be able to work with their clients' different needs and lifestyles. Healthy eating isn't a one size fits all approach. Volume eating can still include nutritious and healthy foods that keep you full and it would be nice to hear her acknowledge that. If I'm going to eat a 500 calorie meal either way, I want it to be more volume than two pieces of bread and some cheese, I can get the same results with a larger portion of high fibre vegetables, a little olive oil, some rice and an egg.
volume eating helped me loose a lot of weight easily
Ok... this is very relevant for people who want to lose weight despite bring at a really healthy weight!
But for some of us, our bodies are used to carrying unnecessary fat that just makes life a little harder 🤷🏻♀️ So, as long as the calorie deficit is reasonable, this is a good strategy
People really wanna be smarter than their bodies….
That's perfectly true, but If you focus on volume eating, your macros, and your energy levels overall, it can be really helpful. I couldn't possibly lost 20kg if it's not for volume eating
It works for me and many others, idk what the big deal is. High nutrition, lots of fibre, high satiety.
please do a whole video on this. :) I was one to get hungry an hour later after any volume eating.
Add potato: it's the highest on the satiety index. Find your daily maintenance calories drop by 25%, skip breakfast, walk 10 k steps, eat a huge salad (16 oz of non starchy veg and 8 to 10 oz of boiled and chilled sweet potato with basalmic vinegar as dressing ) dinner: eat a 16 oz bag of frozen broccoli and a cup of rice or 1 lb of steamed kale and rice or beans.
@@stevethecat9194oiled potato only. Not fries potato
Like when my mom told me to drink water when I was hungry
Volume eating works great for that last meal before bed, especially if u have an eating window. Also when I volume eat, I do so in a manner where a huge chunk of my protein requirement is in the meal as well.
I used to do Noom which focuses heavily on volume eating, and I was always soooo hungry despite being told that it would keep me sooo full. High protein is what works for me to stay full, and that doesn’t always look super high volume.
I need to hear this to balance me thanks
Thing is, I am a volume eater. I need a big meal to feel satisfied. So eating a big meal that is balanced with all the nutrients I need while still being the same amount of calories as a smaller meal someone would usually eat makes it be so nuch more satisfying for me!
I find if I volume eat I am not satisfied and then I’ll want that size but full of salt and calories and that leads to overeating for me. But I am a snack eater not a meal eater. So I have a bunch of mini meals ready that I’ll eat around 8-10 of daily. I can totally see if someone just needed to feel that stretch though this would be very helpful , if the calories are the right amount.
Volume eating is good if you make sure it's balanced. You can definitely bulk up your meal by adding low calorie vegetables to add volume. But you should still be getting your carbs, protein, fat, ect
Diet culture: "this is how to trick your body!" The body that has evolved over thousands of years with one of the most important features being it's ability to assess fuel needs: "um.. I'm right here?"
I knew I could tell if something has calories or not. I can tell the difference between drinks that taste the same but one having no calories.
Scientifically speaking, it's actually suggested by professionals that eating half full of ur tummy is actually better, it helps keeping the liver healthy, and the intestines running smooth, and it helps a happy digestion, time to time taking sips of water helps, and small snacks.
Filling ur stomach to the brim (even in volume eating) doesn't only makes you binge eat, but also puts more unnecessary pressure on the digestive system
This is why you volume eat AND eat a high protein diet AND get all the nutrients you need AND lose fat slowly AND take time for maintenance phases AND once you're lean enough do lean mass phases. You won't need to volume eat to the same extent all the time, and if you are carrying a lot of muscle you may even need to eat high calorie dense foods during lean mass phases.
I am thin and a volume eater ... I'd like to eat normally, stay thin and be satisfied llol hard to get used to mormal eating since I've been doing this for years now
Eating alot of egg and salad helps me satisfy my hunger lol
Honestly my ED is so old my stomach cant handle normal size meals. It actually hurts
I volume eat because my medication makes me really snacky. So I snack on lettuce or cucumbers sometimes with hummus. Otherwise I eat too many chips and feel sick. I think there's a time and place for volume eating. Like eating an entire watermelon on a road trip. It helps you stay hydrated and feeling good after you've been eating a lot of fastfood
One problem with volume eating is if you do too much over time it can stretch your stomach making you hungerier for more because your stomach is bigger
...except that first salad looked delicious, filling, and satisfying. Pause and you'll see protein, fat, and carbs on top of the greens.
Volume eating is typically high fiber? Keeps me full 🤷🏼♀️
I ate 2 boiled eggs before having a nap when I came from a night shift. The eggs are not big in the volume but they surely are heavy. I woke up with s horrible pain in my stomach.
I did half fasting because i realized i ate too much. The salad thing started happening when i calculated the amount of kcal i have in one dinner and realized i ate for three people. I'm basically not fat only because i worked out a lot in my childhood and teens, and later started eating only twice a day instead of 4-5 meals a day. There's also quite long distances walked. (0-15km a day kind of thing)
I think this is a good thing. Basically you eat a good amount of healthy food but if you're still hungry and that's distracting (which will happen if you're trying to eat less to lose weight) you can load up the meal with mostly fiber and water which can only help you. Of course it can be disordered if the meal is lacking in nutrition and way too low calorie but I don't think this one is inherently destructive.
volume eating is the only choice for me to maintain a healthy weight because of my huge appetite. 😢😢😢I could be a competitive eater anytime i want, killing 10 hot dogs as appetizer, and following with 2 large pizza for main course.
So for me to be able to feel the fullness without obesity, volume eating is my only way to go😢😢😢😢
As a pregnant lady I can relate
Whole grains+ beans= greek god status. Then you add other food sources to taste to enhance palatability or improve macros for your given meal but the formula of beans+grains every single meal makes me able to go from eating lunch at 2pm no snacking into dinner at 11pm. It just works.
“You don’t always need to stuff your tummy to the brim to be satisfied” she says while eating a child’s portion size sandwich
That's a normal sandwich. Stop projecting.
I was vegan for 5 years and the last year of it I focused more on no oil/sugar and I was eating huge meals! I knew I had to change something when I started eating an entire box of pasta for dinner.
You can eat all the macros in any size dish
I need volume eating for dinner to sleep. I can fast in the morning but at night I can't sleep
You can volume eat but add more calories to it and have balanced macros
Volume eating only really works if it’s replacing calorie dense foods with little nutrition. High value foods / meals need enough fat and protein.
I think that it is a tool. I have ADHD and will munch all day if left unattended, my life changed when instead of just junk food, I snacked on carrots and tomatoes in between meals instead of finishing family sized chip bags in one day. I still eat chips, candy, soda, protein, fat and carbs. I just also add a lot of volume to those meals because if I don’t and I want something to chew on, that isn’t going to end well. Plus when I started to “force” myself to eat veggies, I actually learned I liked a lot of them! (But not celery, bleh)
THANKS I JUST SUBSCRIBED CAN U TELL US WHAT TO EAT TO KEEP FULL? I’ve never been taught what vitamins fiber etc do I need to eat so dieting is super hard I just eat whatever then either suffer the consequences or learn new foods that make me feel good 😅😅 would be easier to know what I need for energy getting full and not hungry ! Pleaseee
Strawberries are great for volume eating. One pound is less than 150 calories
Proof for me has been granola bars. I can eat a single one and feel energized and fulfilled for hours, but if I eat two packets of ramen, I'll be hungry much sooner. Also, in terms of actual nutrients, I feel like the granola bars are better than ramen but idk
Personally I try to volume eat because I eat with my eyes a lot (a have a FA and a BED). It helps to keep my mind satisfied. It won't work for everybody, just the same as smaller, higher in calories meals.
Idk man. Works for me.
Eh my version of this is to just add veggies or fruits to whatever it is I was already going to eat with like a boiled egg. Most of the time it already has plenty of fat and carbs, it just makes me fuller
adding in some gentle nutrition to what you already enjoy is fantastic!
Have you ever been fat, I mean fat fat?
When it comes back it will come back with vengeance
volume eating doesn’t automatically mean eating empty foods. foods high in fiber and protein can keep you fuller for long periods of time while holding less cals than junk
I think if you're trying to lose weight, prioritize first on getting enough nutrients (protein and fat naturally satiates but isn't necessarily voluminous) then fill the rest with volume if your stomach is still hungry.
I mean volume eating broccoli with some beans and fruits would make me feel satisfied.. it is still nutritionally dense..
I’ve been saying this for a long time to the calorie density fans. It does not work! You can’t trick your body into thinking 125 calories is 1,000 calories!
... I prefer high fibre food. Though I'm not satisfied (mentally or physically), my body has absolutely no complaints. No hunger for half a day. So, I'll take it.
I have what I think is an eating disorder I will feel hungry even after eating 2 burgers, or a pack of biscuits or a bowl of pho
So I go for this low calorie high volume tbh
Not all my meals are but breakfast and lunch are
