      Be careful brother and start making friends outside the jw's with worldly people (yes they are good and kind) and prepping your new life in secret because once you leave everyone will be gone and out of your life so at least you'll have some backup. Just fake it till you make it. Be prepared for the worst and be strong and have your life prepared once you leave that way you won't be in culture shock all alone. Make friends with your co workers and neighbors and get close to your relatives that are not jw's. When I left I already lived a double life and didn't loose a thing. Sure it was crazy but I had my social community and then I shunned the witnesses on my own terms and ignored when the elders started bullying me to come back and have meetings etc. Good luck brother. Cheers! : )

    I am reclaiming my time!!! I have my hobby and I’m enjoying it so much! Before I used to start a hobby projects and wasn’t able to finish it since my free time was preaching, going to meeting, cooking for special meetings, driving others to bible studies!
    Today I have a better relationship with God than ever, because I have my time to read his word in the mornings while I enjoy my terrace with a cup of coffee and hear the birds and meditate in His Word without bias, praying, talking and expressing myself, I even ask questions! My quality in life is much better and healthier!!! Then I do my hobby crafts- using the abilities that God gave me!

    Your idea about researching topics that are not Watchtower-related is spot on. I dropped out as a young teenager. But I was heavily indoctrinated. I felt inadequate for not having been able to hold on to "the truth". I didn't know I had the RIGHT to form my own opinions on issues, or to develop my own model for how to live my life. I stumbled through my life for many years in this kind of fog. Only in my early 30s did things get a little better.
    I recently listened to a lecture that Bart Ehrman gave to his college students on the Pauline morals expressed in 1 Conrinthians. In this context, Dr. Ehrman called on his students to form their own moral opinions. He said, "You should not go through life with fuzzy ideas on important topics." I thought that was very well put.

    Wally I have seen how the shunning works first hand when my grandpa died. Quick background on me is, I was born in and my parents moved 7/8 hours away fading us. I was about 9 when we moved. I saw family maybe every couple of years growing up. The relatives were always asking my parents how active they were and lecturing them. Well about 7 years ago my grandfather died and we all went down for his service. My disfellowshipped cousin was there and she was in the back of the hall. Only one older man approached her the whole time and the exchange was cold . It was bizarre knowing her parents were shunning her and no one was embracing each other . My son was a baby so I walked up to her and introduced my son and hugged her . I stayed with her . After his funeral I didn’t realize at the time she would not be going to this community center room my aunt rented out for eating and talking with everyone. I guess that was not allowed. I had JW’s walking up to me asking who I was and they didn’t even realize that my father was my grandfather’s son. So many years went by that these people didn’t know him only a few older ones. What struck me as odd was they go up and introduce themselves and after I told them who I was they then asked what congregation I was in. There was not any comments on sympathy for my loss. One brother even asked if I was interested in the truth . I walked away from him, because that was inappropriate.
    I really enjoy your channel Wally and wish you the best !

    So the Society limits sex to just heterosexual marital sex. But at the same time, contraception is permitted, even encouraged. (For example, couples who remain childless in order to focus fully on the ministry work are held up as examples.) So what is the purpose of sex then, in the Society's opinion? Not baby-making, obviously. And if it's OK to have sex just for fun without the baby-related consequences (contrary to the 'be fruitful and multiply' exhortations in the Bible), what is the problem with people having sex outside of marriage? Or having sex with people of the same gender?
    All these restrictions traditionally based on sexual conduct were in place in order to ensure men would continue their blood line. They had to make sure their wives' babies were really fathered by them, so women had to be virgins and sex outside of marriage was forbidden. Men were not supposed to waste their 'essence' fooling around with other men, they were supposed to save it for making babies with their wives. Once baby-making is taken out of the equation, everything changes!

      @@exjehovahswitness I've thought about that quite a bit. With contraception, I think sex between consenting adults simply has no moral dimension anymore. Morality only applies to actions that affect other people. When sex has the potential to make a baby, obviously there is another interested third party - the baby. But with the advent of reliable contraception, that is simply not the case anymore. If a couple is dating and they have consensual sex with each other, that act affects only them, so morality doesn't come into it.
      I think the prohibition of gay sex as well as masturbation was also based on a belief that men have a limited lifetime supply of their "essence", so they weren't supposed to squander it because it was needed for baby-making. Today we know that that is not true. A healthy man produces sperm throughout his life. He never runs out! That makes masturbation, again, an act that has no moral dimension.
      And it also used to be that "continuing the male bloodline" was really important, not just to an invidual man but to his entire family or clan. There had to be a male heir to the throne, or the estate, or the business, or the farm, or whatever. Today, we don't think in such terms anymore, at least not in the Western world.

    • @exjehovahswitness
      @exjehovahswitness  3 года назад +1

      Any time you take seriously the moral notions of people that lived 100's if not 1,000's of years ago you run into problems. Thomas Jefferson said that we should rewrite the constitution every generation so that it could deal with the problems of the time.
      I think it is why the new light teaching exists. We can no longer support slavery, new light. All races are equal in the sight of god, new light. Blood magic isn't real, new light. As time progresses we find that our ancestors got some things right and other things wrong so we take the right and dump the wrong.
      I like how you tie that together with sex though, it is a very good point.

      the only problem for Jehovah's Witnesses is not to take as an example what Jesus instituted in their memory, which was to eat and drink the emblems in the Lord's Supper! for it is one baptism and one hope of eternal life. Ephesians 4: 4-6 note 4- There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called in a hope to which you were called; 5- one Lord, one faith and one baptism; 6- God, unique and Father of all, who is above all, and through all and in all.

    Jahovah witnesses have a place I think in New York some where, called Bethel. It's where they send the more devoted to finish their ministry training. I remember a couple of years ago one of their members posted on YT that she went to visit Bethel and got into a room that was off limits and was horrified at all the demonic paintings that were hanging all over the walls in this room. As she was crying in outrage showing pictures she had taken I could see for my self that they were all demonic and looked like a place for satanic rituals. Now this place is suppose to be the Headquarters of the Jahovah Witnesses CALLED BETHEL !!!s
