The owner of the Audi specialists called VRS in Northampton (Will) has built a monster 1980's Audi 90 with a 20v AAN engine pushing out some crazy power. Really nice build and a real sleeper with its stock bodywork, tow bar and cut out letters on the front number plate to let more air in. Be nice to see that on here.
Nice alternative car.Amazed that the clutch has held out! It seems to be a proper Achilles heel on the S1 especially in higher gears.It’s going to need to get replaced either way if he’s going for more power as it will be slipping like a Dutchman in clogs on an ice rink.
What I respect about this vid is the massive knowledge boost and people putting it together knowing what there doing - this could be rs1 r&d for free - take to the Audi engineers
I have 320hp on my S1 and it feels very fast... I bet that extra 80hp makes a lot of difference.💪🏼 I am planning Milltek to my car too because it sounds best to my ears.
Saw this around Bristol last year, I pulled up in my N/A 2.0 Clio 197 and had a try and he left me for dust (obviously).... Needless to say I felt like a right prune! Absolute animal of a motor and the lad has done very well to keep the exterior extremely clean too, despite it looking dirty in this video. S1 may well be my next motor!
I guess you tired on the straights, remember mate the clio 172/182/197/200 are best for corners not straights until there’s a meg swap or a supercharger installed then it’ll be better for straights. Personally I think you would of had him on a country road in the corners, if you’re thinking about the s1 just watch the clutch as I’ve heard the stock clutch isn’t that good but me personally I’ll rather spend 3k-5k to do either the meg swap or install a supercharger on the clio than spend 10k+ on a s1 but it’s all personal preference

It's not that the s1 can't fit the s-tronic box, its just that if they did offer it the s3 would have zero draw factor. Audi cant have the flagship hatch outsold by the s1

Noxious I find that problem on the VAG world lol, as they have a gazillion possibilities as far as drivetrains and engines goes, I had to look on Revo site to see the gains for their maps confirming the same outputs as the GTI so it’s the crappy EA888 not the good one from the Cupra/R/S3, and also to be said, lots of VAG owners including tuners like to really pump their figures, mate of mine had a DSG stage 1 MK7 which according to REVO puts down around 320bhp, I at the moment had a mildly tuned Mk2 focus ST, which according to my mods at that time had to put down around 280bhp, I expected to be destroyed but to my surprise I pulled half a car on him 🤷🏻♂️, then he went and decatted the thing and loaded up the stage 2 software from Revo again which supposedly was good for 342bhp, I also did the same on my focus and did every bolt on except the turbo, which on Volvo/Focus mk2 world means Around 330-340 bhp on a very good day, re ran expecting to be destroyed, I absolutely obliterated him, funnily enough soon after that, the Revo web site corrected their outputs to more believable numbers.... I now have a manual E82 N54 135i with MHD stage 2 and I have S3s for breakfast on the highway so doubt they really develop the claimed 400hp VAG tubers claim, I do agree from a dig they are lightning fast, my opinion on the VAG world lol 😂

At the top end it sounds like the tv used to at midnight closedown....like whitenoise and that blow off valve is nasty but the rest of the package is ok.
i like the recipe on these. light, small, nimble and quick. but i dont like the typical modern things about it. expensive, way too much fake pops and bangs, fakeish sound, absolutely no space to wrench in/on it and the not-so-real haldex awd system. also that engine bay is really ugly. all plastic pipes and cables. but to each thier own.
99Lezard99 it doesn’t use the traditional haldex system, it’s a different set up that has a slightly higher rear bias and in dynamic it sends power at all times. “Mechanically the S1 runs permanent four-wheel drive with an electronically controlled rear locking differential that works in partnership with two-stage ESC. This means 'e-diff' style brake interventions to the inside wheels in bends as well as electronic torque distribution, which the promise of resulting improved agility and adjustability.”

nah, you don`t need to change pistons or any other internals. For 400+ you need is38 turbo from golf r/audi s3 intake, downpipe, intercooler + remap and you will get 390-420hp. Engine in s1 is the same as golf gti and skoda octavia rs (is20 turbo). Compare fuel consumption of evo 8/9 and golf r/s3 :) I was driving evo back in the days. Now i have got an s3, it`s much better for a daily.

The A1 competition model will come with a 2.0TFSI engine running 200ps. But it isn't Quattro or manual. Same as the new Polo GTI.

Don't half get the power down this, has it been set up boost by rpm as it doesn't spin just goes. Fwd/rwd no t/c is horrendous in winter
Should get a dragy box and do 0-60mph + 60-130mph on all the cars reviewed. Be good to see how all these cars compare in reality
