#PinkFloyd #ArnoldLayne #SydBarrett
Amazing to think the Syd Barrett era was basically just one year 1967 and we are still obsessed with it over 50 years later.
Excellent comment! Absolutely spot on.
It’s like Elvis in a jumpsuit or Freddie Mercury with his moustache - they were only small eras of their careers but we still think of them like that.
*1965-1967, but it's still remarkable to hear the stuff Syd came up with!!
Oh Syd, you are loved my friend
Agreed!
R.I.P. Syd Barrett (1946-2006)
R.I.P. Richard Wright (1943-2008)
We will remember them RIP ♍
While other bands wrote about girls, girls & more girls, Syd Barrett wrote songs about scarecrows, the solar system and crossdressers. That alone makes early Pink Floyd special.
Lol, yeah.RIP Syd.
The kinks did do LOLA.
@@alistairewen9558 great song 🎵 by an even greater band.
pretty much every f'ing Beetles song was some "Girl' song. lmao thats so true

@Burley Pelletier listen to Gloria and Tobacco Road by The Blues Magoos, Syd Barret loved them.
Roger looked so happy in these early years.
Oh, Yes! The big horsey was cutie-patootiey and adorkable!
He always been happy he just got stressed when he had to be the leader of the band
Fr, makes me sad to look at later videos where he isn't smiling as much. But then again he was pretty stressed being a leader of sorts for PF later on.
@Mas Dito Lol, I know ppl call him 🗿 or a horse, but I've always seen him as attractive. Both when he was younger and now when he's older.
@@wedoliveinasocietydowenot It shows what sort of pressure Syd must have been under having to write the songs, be the lead guitarist and vocalist. Acid MUST have been a huge cause in his issues but the stress he was under could not have helped.
I love this early Pink Floyd's music videos. I love watching them so young and happy together doing nosense things just for fun, without worring for anything else.
The way life should be.
@@marionsmith6878 Ya just think if we as human's didn't have to worry about money to pay bills and eat
ha ha i love the pinks flois
Yeah. Then seeing them as old men and kinda making a frown and especially for syds later photos then looking at the video and thinking there so happy then remembering 2 of them are dead and repeat
@Fala Demais lmao
And thus began a new chapter in the history of music.
Arnold Lane and See Emily Play are both completely orignal and brilliant.
Still sounds good 55 years later.
Absolutely 👏👏
Yes, I agree 👍🇩🇪🎉😀🎉🇩🇪
Still better than 99% of the music videos they make now:)
Syd's Masterpiece. Rest well, legend.
I would give that title to Astronomy Domine rather than this. This is quite nice pop of its time though.

Syd Barrett was awesome. His songwriting was and still is unique and unreplicable.

Takes me back to that great year of 1967 when as a 16 year old music like this life couldn't get any better, great days, I feel so sorry for youth today who will never experience times like that.
Totally agree, was 16 that year as well, an unbelievable time!
Today was released this single :) The beginning of a great journey
How this wasn’t on Piper is beyond me. Excellent song!
Standard practice in the UK back then was not to include singles on albums. It's why you have different US and UK versions of all the early Beatles and Stones albums.
When I first acquired Piper (on vinyl) it was a Japanese half-speed master - quite the rare find in the US back then - and the Japanese release included See Emily Play at the end of the album. It was years before I learned that US and UK releases did not have it until the 40th anniversary CD with bonus tracks came out - and even then it's on the 3rd disc with the bonus tracks. I can't imagine listening to the album without that song closing it out.
I don't know what's better, the song or the fact that it's written about a cross dresser who stole ladies underwear
jai roberts you are one of the few people who get the lyrics.
Lol
Actually, from what I read, it is about a homicidal homosexual, plenty of darkness along those lines in its hidden meanings. Back in the days when Syd Barrett was thinking in complete sentences.
First *Panty Snatcher* in history !
@@chev6art roger said it was about someone who stole women's underwear and wore them, and syd said it's about a dude that likes to wear women's clothing

Was actually at that part when I read lol
That little smirk as he just walks off without it, though.

Classic Syd Barrett's style. One of the greatest musicians in the last century.
Without him Pink Floyd was released, the four members admited that.
@meme king All wrong. The Beatles sounded allways with John so you can´t compare. Rod Evans???? Purple is Ritchie or Ian.
So, for you is better "Arnold Lane" than Shine on your crazy diamond or the dark side...... !!! ok man, take the correct pill. jajaja don´t deserve any more comment.
@meme king All members said that when Syd went they can compose and play better. He was their friend but musically speaking was a problem.
Just read the biography.....

They're such kids here. I find it impossible not to look at Syd no matter who is sharing the screen with him. He was so beautiful and charismatic.

Rick deserves a lot of credit for filling the gaps and creating the background for all their songs. RIP!

Genau so ist es
Syd Barrett had a very distinct style that I can't help but love.
Psychedelic Pink Floyd 🤘🤘
So lovely to see Syd being in such good spirits here. You could tell he still loved being part of the band at this point in time. He had that wonderful twinkle in his eye and oh so charming smile that would sadly be lost when he went into the Void. RIP Syd. Your legend will always live on. ❤

Arnold Layne had a strange hobby
Collecting clothes moonshine washing line
They suit him fine
On the wall hung a tall mirror
Distorted view, see through baby blue
He dug it
Oh, Arnold Layne
It's not the same, takes two to know
Two to know, two to know, two to know
Why can't you see?
Arnold Layne, Arnold Layne

Clássico dos clássicos, música que faz a gente sair do chão, voar, flutuar!
Too wild! The era was just wide open and PF certainly ventured with Author Brown, Beatles, and Stones. As a 7 year old, I can say the world was speeding up very fast in 67.

Great Floyd.
In 100 years this music will still be as fresh as the day it was released. The counterculture youth will continue to discover Pink Floyd forever🎉
Such a killer song.
As much as I love all the different iterations of Pink Floyd through the years, the stuff Syd wrote was special.
Even Roger's best stuff was somewhat heavy-handed and overwrought. David's years were a bit poppy and almost sound like a Floyd tribute band in a way.
But Syd was a creative genius. He managed to be lyrically profound while keeping it fun and light all at the same time. And his sense of rhythm and timing was just all his own and simply fascinating.
Too bad he wasn't able to give is more than he did the flame that burns twice as bright, you know...
He was truly one of a kind and I love and miss him.
Syd Barrett was an absolute genius so sad what became of him gone but will never be forgotten
Great old video, of a great Pink Floyd early song, that shows Syd Barrett in it.
My favourite pink floyd video. Its brilliantly made!
What a great song. From the first time I heard it I was immediately hooked.
Such a fun cheeky video. Has a rather "'Ticket To Ride' sequence from the Beatles' movie, 'HELP'!'" feel.
A remarkable video by Derek Nice, shot in a minimalist setting enlivened by the performance of our goofy quartet.
It's a small cinematic masterpiece that still stands the test of time, gaining interest precisely because of its elegant authorship and photography.
Thank you for making it known to the Band's followers.🌈🐞

When I was about 17 and Pink Floyds Arnold Layne was in the charts, I fell in love for the first time, and we would walk near her house along a road called Arnold's Lane. Our young relationship was very traumatic and didn't last, however the song still remains.
