      How is everyone talking about the wrong thing??? This was an expose on how the entertainment industry works and the grooming that's involved-- from Hollyweird to over the pond, its all the same, and its traumatic for those who want to join so badly they'll do anything for the chance... The crazy stalker lady is just a wrap around to the real issue he was writing about. (And the zingers on the trans community were priceless-- like when Terrie was talking about Martha and said she was "making an identity out of a fantasy." Wow. Excellent writing. This story is not about the stalker, not really, but everyone is intentionally being misled to think that it is. Funny how that works. Smh.)

    • @chilltarts
      @chilltarts 20 дней назад +1

      @jk_lvvess I don't disagree, I just wish more attention was paid to the part of this story that was real and true; episodes. 1-4 are zingers, 5-7 was pretty "fitting the preferred narrative" lies. The show would have been better off without them. That's where it lost the raw ring of authenticity that was so strong in the first half. Regardless, she did do a phenomenal job with the role

    Martha is SUCH a complex character (well, technically not a character but a person). I found myself feeling sorry for her and angry at her all at the same time repeatedly and putting myself in Richards shoes, i still dont know how i would have been able to deal with what he had to endure. I've watched the entire series. It was shocking for me to later learn that the actor is the writer, and he is narrating his own story with some modifications to protect individuals. It's amazing how brave he was to address very sensitive topics such as stalking and male rape. It was truly courageous to portray them in such detail in a film. I appreciate the writer for sharing a part of himself with us. It's a fantastic series 👏

      Of course and maybe that came from Gadds own desires abd wishes. The stalker never faced jail, and stalkers don't admit in what they are doing is wrong since being delusional and all.
      But a lot of his moments in the show, the vulnerable bits, dating trans, the cycle of abuse and what trauma does to a person that is very much real. But to translate how that would look like in a show or movie is difficult. So a story needs tl be written around thise elements to create conpassion and seeing how raw ugly and human it is. I kniw story was altered, abd it was also done in attempt to hide identity of certain people in his life. But recently his stalker has come out. A bews media interviewer has now recieved endless threats and calls from his then stalker after giving her his number. She decided to speak out how she didn't know him, however she knew many details about Gadd in his life, called him homosexual, trash talked rhe actress. The problem is that some folk watched the show and then started to disturb and contact her. @@adalineproulx9773

    I worked as a manager and forensic nurse of a rape and sexual assault centre. The way Richard and Jessica portrayed the trauma of childhood adverse incidents and abuse as an adult was absolutely brilliant. Trauma informed counselling is such an under funded service. Even though the NHS has some counselling services it is not specialised or available to all that are requiring this. IMO this series is even better than It's a sin. It is hard hitting and very disturbing to watch but it is realistic and happens to so many. Hopefully Richard and Jessica will get the recognition they deserve which could lead to the funding of services needed.

I've never been properly stalked, but the other thing, it was the most deeply triggering experience with any kind of visual medium I've ever had. I do have PTSD and it did sent me through a bit of a loop, but I am so glad I decided to watch on... after a cup of tea and some fresh air! Seeing and hearing such an eloquent retelling and depiction of not just the event, but of the mental struggle of another sirvuvor, made me sob, and I haven't done that since I got sober. I feel less alone in my experience and that is because of the phenomenal artistry of Richard Gadd.

      Or a massive narcissist. Writing it about "his experiences" is one thing. Casting himself as himself is a bit much. But then re-enacting these things that supposedly happened to him in such graphic detail.. there's no way. Reliving that kind of trauma in therapy is bad enough, but reliving it as yourself playing yourself with people playing the people who did it to you, in sets that look like the places you were in, and ON CAMERA? No. I don't buy it. He's said that he "likes" the "surprise" if the ending, that he likes the psychology of it, as though he wrote a story that he's proud of coming up with, not as someone who had such terrible things done to him and recalled them for film. I don't believe a word of it. It may be someone's story, it's definitely got a lot of similarities to a lot of people's stories, but I don't believe that it's his experiences.

      @@hentai7444 it really worries me that nobody seems to be talking about it, everyone seems to just be singing his praises and saying how brave he is. Like.. did they not watch it? He clearly says in the last 2 episodes that he would do ANYTHING to be famous. He talks about going back to his supposed attacker after that gratuitous display in his flat, which there's just no way he was reliving and nothing will change my mind about that, as if he could even remember it that clearly after all the GHB he supposedly took. Utter tosh. He clearly shows that his comedy was terrible, that he never would have succeeded without Martha there to make him interesting, and he says that he misses her too by the end. Not because he felt bad or she was misunderstood but because he needed her to be successful, without her he was just another sad sack nobody liked, who thought the world owed him something. Look at all those other people who are famous, what do they have that I don't etc. He says that too. There is honestly just no way that he's writing about himself as himself, playing himself and not seeing how unlikeable he is. Unless he is literally the biggest narcissist on the planet. And nobody around him dares say anything because he too is somehow a stepping stone after a one man show at Edinburgh Fringe..?? He was posting on social media asking people to stop trying to find out who the characters were based on, as though he and the entire team at Netflix hadn't considered that the internet is full of people with nothing better to do and would figure it out in a day at the most, and in a time when people get fired over accusations with no evidence, the idea that they wouldn't then try to ruin the "real life" people who "did such awful things to him" is absurd. None of it adds up or makes sense, and I've seen nothing but praise for his bravery and strength, all from self proclaimed Victims with a capital v, whose entire identities revolve around whatever experience they refuse to get over. I even saw a supposed therapist praising him. When even a professional can't see the cracks in the story, we're all done for.
