HE was an Arab Muslim polymath: a scholar, inventor, mechanical engineer, artisan, artist and mathematician. He is best known for writing The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices ( 'Book in knowledge of engineering tricks') in 1206, where he described 100 mechanical devices, some 80 of which are trick vessels of various kinds, along with instructions on how to construct them.
The only biographical information known about him is contained in his famed Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices. Like his father before him, he served as chief engineer at the Artuklu Palace, the residence of the Mardin branch of the Artuqids which ruled across eastern Anatolia as vassals of the Zengid dynasty of Mosul and later of Ayyubid general Saladin.
Al-Jazari was part of a tradition of artisans and was thus more a practical engineer than an inventor who appears to have been "more interested in the craftsmanship necessary to construct the devices than in the technology which lay behind them" and his machines were usually "assembled by trial and error rather than by theoretical calculation." His Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices appears to have been quite popular as it appears in a large number of manuscript copies, and as he explains repeatedly, he only describes devices he has built himself. According to Mayr, the book's style resembles that of a modern "do-it-yourself" book.
Some of his devices were inspired by earlier devices, such as one of his monumental water clocks, which was based on that of a Pseudo-Archimedes. He also cites the influence of the Banū Mūsā brothers for his fountains, al-Saghani for the design of a candle clock, and Hibatullah ibn al-Husayn (d. 1139) for musical automata. Al-Jazari goes on to describe the improvements he made to the work of his predecessors, and describes a number of devices, techniques and components that are original innovations which do not appear in the works by his precessors.

was a mathematician and engineer who was active in his native city of Alexandria, Roman Egypt. He is often considered the greatest experimenter of antiquity and his work is representative of the Hellenistic scientific tradition.
Hero published a well-recognized description of a steam-powered device called an aeolipile (sometimes called a "Hero engine"). Among his most famous inventions was a windwheel, constituting the earliest instance of wind harnessing on land. He is said to have been a follower of the atomists. In his work Mechanics, described the pantographs. Some of his ideas were derived from the works of Ctesibius.
In mathematics he is mostly remembered for Heron's formula, a way to calculate the area of a triangle using only the lengths of its sides.
Much of Hero's original writings and designs have been lost, but some of his works were preserved-mostly in manuscripts from the Eastern Roman Empire, and a smaller part in Latin or Arabic translations.
Hero described the construction of the aeolipile (a version of which is known as Hero's engine) which was a rocket-like reaction engine and the first-recorded steam engine (although Vitruvius mentioned the aeolipile in De Architectura some 100 years earlier than Hero). It was created almost two millennia before the industrial revolution. Another engine used air from a closed chamber heated by an altar fire to displace water from a sealed vessel; the water was collected and its weight, pulling on a rope, opened temple doors. Some historians have conflated the two inventions to assert that the aeolipile was capable of useful work.
The first vending machine was also one of his constructions; when a coin was introduced via a slot on the top of the machine, a set amount of holy water was dispensed. This was included in his list of inventions in his book Mechanics and Optics. When the coin was deposited, it fell upon a pan attached to a lever. The lever opened up a valve which let some water flow out. The pan continued to tilt with the weight of the coin until it fell off, at which point a counter-weight would snap the lever back up and turn off the valve.

Hero also invented many mechanisms for the Greek theater, including an entirely mechanical play almost ten minutes in length, powered by a binary-like system of ropes, knots, and simple machines operated by a rotating cylindrical cogwheel. The sound of thunder was produced by the mechanically-timed dropping of metal balls onto a hidden drum.
The force pump was widely used in the Roman world, and one application was in a fire-engine.
A syringe-like device was described by Hero to control the delivery of air or liquids.
In optics, Hero formulated the principle of the shortest path of light: If a ray of light propagates from point A to point B within the same medium, the path-length followed is the shortest possible. It was nearly 1000 years later that Alhacen expanded the principle to both reflection and refraction, and the principle was later stated in this form by Pierre de Fermat in 1662; the most modern form is that the optical path is stationary.

The "basics of Islam" is everything I learned but as I became a teenager there were parts of it that simply didn't sit well for me. Here is the major one and this applies to most other religions. Why implement the most unimaginable torture of anyone simply for not believing rather than commiting actions that harm people. All you have to do is think and doubt your faith and that alone will earn you a ticket to a place where it's absolutely horrible than words can describe. The constant warnings and threats of hell is scattered through out the Qur'an. Yes it is even in the Bible but the Qur'an pushes it really far. It uses fear as a tool to psychologically force humans to believe based only on faith and no evidence. This is taking the fear beyond it's capacity to make people behave and form thoughts they wouldn't have if it wasn't for this religion. That's why I left and that reason is good enough. You would do good not because you're altruistic but only because you don't want to be punished. That is the hallmark of weak morals.
Of course you think it's stupidity. I understand you have to shield your faith because it can easily crumble. I did learn even more about Islam and I came to the conclusion that I made an excellent choice leaving this tribalistic religion. It felt awesome. I no longer have to worry about my friends, teachers, and favorite celebrities going to hell which gives me so much relief and joy.
Now question for you.
If a christian becomes a muslim would you wonder and stress whether he knew everything about Christianity before he left or would you instantly rejoice and celebrate his conversion? Would you care how much he knew about Christianity? Does he have to study his ass off reading the Bible?? Or is that something you wouldn't care for? All that matters is he joined your religion?
@@intellectualsolitudeproduc2865 i left it a few months ago at 13, for the reason that everyone in my family was brainwashed into Islam, at least my best friend/cousin accepted that i left, our friendship became better After i told him my doubts, he tried to turn me back, but eventualy he understood me and we talked about normal things again.

My family never brainwashed ME, they let me figure Islam out by myself. And what i learned didn't datisfy me, my parents believe that beings Can adapt to their enviorment but she doesn't believe in évolution!?

I read a book a few years back entitled “Why we left Islam” the main reason over the 25 different accounts was the individual decided to read the Koran...knowledge is the greatest weapon against Islam.

There is a long tradition of memorizing the Quran, even by young children, continuing to this day so the argument about misinterpretation does not hold water. Mohammad is NOT considered divine in any way BTW.

I started losing faith when i read Quran with understanding, and then hadidh. I read Quran with my open mind, there are many good teachings in Quran like in any other scriptures (religious books need to have good teachings), but most of the time its non-spiritual, and majorly based on rulings and how jews and christians are bad, fear God, Heavens and Hell. It does not talk about philosophy, or spirituality. It's very authoritative, like you do this and do that, but why it never answers. It suppress those who ask questions. I have tried many times to build up my faith but failed to do so, it just doesn't give me good vibes.

I’m so glad I found this video. I left islam relatively recently and I honestly couldn’t have said any of what you said better myself. All these emotions and feelings of uncertainty has put me on edge for so long. The religion made me feel that I was unable to love and be loved because of my bisexuality. Knowing how islam and muslims perceive people like me has aggravated my suicidal thoughts. Of course, when I try to explain my reasons behind leaving people always assert that my bisexuality was the reason, that I simply didn’t agree with the religion so I left because it’s more convenient for me. Sometimes they would say that I’m a sheep or too easy to manipulate (how ironic). Contrary to their assertions, I actually looked for answers and for so many years, I tried to understand my religion but to no avail. I’ve had so many questions that extend to other topics, not just sexuality. Nothing makes sense anymore. I’m sick and tired of having to justify my existence constantly. I’m sick and tired of feeling guilty about something I can’t control. I am sick and tired of having to explain to people why I, like everyone else, deserve rights and freedoms. I'd like to share my story...which is quite short n simple tbh...
First of all, I was not like a radical muslim...and even as a Muslim I found some things that didn't seem right to me at the time, like the marriage of the prophet to a 6 year old...and as I questioned about these things, the only reply I got was to keep doubt away from my heart and believe in Islam blindly.
Then last year, I stumbled upon the channel of David Wood...and I started watching his videos...and then I found some real bad stuff about Islam. But being a Muslim, I wasn't ready to accept all those facts at first.
So I consulted my cousin brother about all those doubts...(my cousin is quite well versed in Islamic literature)...but even he didn't give me satisfactory answers...he too started telling me to keep my "Imaan" intact by not believing in what Christians say. At that point I told him that Christians are not saying this...and that all this is written in Islam's very own sources.
So looking for answers, I went to the local Imaams...and honestly they too gave me the same answers and even accepted some things...like my local Imam said...if Quran says that sun sets in a muddy pool, then it sets in a muddy pool and we have to accept it...we have to accept that there is the wall of Dhul-Qarnain if Quran says so...
And that's it...since that point, I started losing my faith slowly and now I'm an atheist. Thank you for going through this.

As an ex-muslim myself i share a similar story. And like you said, it's not my choice. I can't go back to islam even if i wanted to because I've already seen the flaws and already seen the biases. I cannot force myself to be muslim. It's literally impossible. People choose what seems best for them. And believe what's right or true to them. If i can't see that something is true i can't just believe it.

I think everyone, religious or not, should question their religion. Many, many years ago I was "baptised" as a Buddist. I had to pray every morning and evening, chanting in some ancient Chinese, I believe. I had asked the more seasoned people who practiced what does it mean. What am I saying. They wouldn't tell me. In fact, I started to wonder if they even knew. I stopped. I do believe in a higher being. But I had to cut out all the pomp and circumstance. I can go into any place of worship and hear what they have to say. But I won't follow it "religiously".

I too had a similar journey leaving Mormonism. I started reading all of the books. The more i read the more i became confused. I noticed that the Book of Mormon condemns Polygamy but The Doctrine and Covenants mandates it. I tried to silence my disbelief but the contradictions became too much after i read the King Follet Discourse. In it Joseph Smith says that God is a Man, that God is not Eternal, and we will become a God just like him.
This was like getting hit by a train because every Sunday when i read the Bread Sacrament Prayer it began with: "O God, the Eternal Father...". It became so much that i couldn't do the Sacrament anymore. I realized as i kept reading and re-reading that Joseph Smith changed the religion half way in to making it.
The book of mormon affirms the Trinity, One Eternal God, the concept of hell, and rejects Polygamy. The doctrine and covenants denies the Trinity (saying that the three are really three separate and distinct gods. Which is Polytheism), says that God the Father is not Eternal but was a man, and rejects Hell for the Three Degrees of Glory. There are more contradictions but i'll try to keep this as short as possible.
Mormonism hurts people in a very subtle way. It cultivates attachment to family, community, and the church. It says "well you want to be with your family after you die right? We're the only church that can make that happen.". The damage that Mormonism does is purely psychological but very potent. I pointed out several contradictions to my grandfather. His response: "I believe that those questions will be answered by God after Judgement day." Like i said very potent.
Presadistic Law I was also raised in a cult...the Roman Catholic Church. I found the true Jesus 27 years ago (at the verge of suicide), when I really asked the God who is there to reveal Himself to me in a way I could understand, so that I would have a reason to go on living. I try not to say i was in a cult because a lot of people who leave crazy ideologies say it is cult. It also denigrates the power of the term cult which is used to describe something more than a powerful dogma. Yes Catholicism and Mormonism have a radical effect on all aspects of life but compare it with Jonestown or Heaven's gate.
Those people were totally isolated from their family as well as most of the outside world, they didn't have any life outside of the system, and they ended up taking their own lives. Powerful dogmas in my opinion are close to cults but the members still live in somewhat regular society.
I found God after i left Mormonism but not in the same way that most folks do. I took some Mushrooms and saw the True God. The Living Universe. I had a sort of enlightenment experience. Before, when i was a Mormon i saw God as most people do. As a detached father figure always watching over me. Judging me.
Now i truly know that the Kingdom of God is within (Luke 17:21) and that God's love permeates all Life. His is the Tree of Life and Man being fallen continues to eat from the Tree of Good and Evil. Judging his enemies. And so his enemies judge him.
I saw that the only reason we don't live in paradise is because of Selfishness and Judgement. Judging ourselves and others, how could God not judge us? Hence our own lack of Universal Love keeps us bound. But we're not bound because it's our choice.
And yet saying all of this i still have judgements myself. I can still feel God within me ever since that day but it's clouded by the ego (the fallen man).
Presadistic Law Shalom. Could I suggest just reading the Bible (maybe New King James or American Standard Version) and leaving aside all other books. I would suggest just Psalms and New Testament for a period of time. God has promised to reveal Himself to those who ‘diligently seek Him’. Since the true Jesus of the Bible claimed to BE THE TRUTH, then those who consistently choose truth, as in obeying the Word of God, WILL find Him. But beware, there is a lot of error, wrong doctrine and deception out there. Jesus only, and Bible only would be my advice.
However you would define a Christian cult (and I agree there are cults and cults), my definition would be any religious group that has the Bible ‘plus’ something else, whether it be The Book of Mormon; Pearl of Great Price as with Adventists; Catholics with their catechism, etc etc.
I did that after i left Mormonism. I read from Genesis to Job as well as saying every prayer in Psalms before bed and in the New Testament read from Matthew to 2 Timothy. I was a protestant for a while. Then i fell away, had a Spiritual Awakening while taking Psychedelics and have been able to feel God within me and around me ever since.
I used to see God in an idolatrous way. As a Judgmental Father who existed outside of me. But now i see that God is the Living Universe. To put it in Biblical terms, i truly discovered the Kingdom of God which is within. Not outside. (Luke 17:21)

It says the same exact thing in the Upanishads: "Atman cannot be attained by speech, by the mind or by the eye. How can it be realized by any other way than by the affirmation of him who says: 'He is'" -Katha Upanishad: part two, chapter three, verse twelve [II.iii.12]
"He is" is the third person way of saying "I AM". I know it sounds crazy but the only way to truly understand God is by experience. The Upanishads as well as the Bible confirm this:
"For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power." -1 Corinthians 4:20
God can be reached through prolonged meditation, prolonged prayer, prolonged fasting, and even through Psychedelics. God reaches people through altered states of Consciousness. This too is in the Bible:
"And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream." -Numbers 12:6-8
The Truth is the "I AM". The pure consciousness that is God. He is pure universal transcendent love. His is the Tree of Life not the Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. The Bible confirms this too:

In my country religious studies are required, we had a teacher that whenever she would talk about something, for example, “allah sits on his throne” then would shout to us “DO NOT visualize this, just stop and accept it as it is, thinking about it is haram. You have no idea how much this affected me. How can you be a teacher and yet constantly tell your students to NOT think whenever you mention something contradictory (ie, god has no physical form yet sits on a throne)

I now know examples of ex-Loyalist terrorists who now minister together with ex-IRA terrorists. This is the power of the true GOSPEL. I pray that you will find Jesus for yourself. The best way is to get a Bible for yourself. I would recommend New King James or NASB version. Read the Gospels and the Psalms, maybe starting in Luke, and ask God to speak to you through it and to reveal Himself to you in ways you can understand. I do own a bible and do read it occasionally and being raised the Catholic girl that I am I still recite the Lord's Prayer, Hail Mary and the decades but I am happy with being me. You know what's really disturbing to me is how someone as obviously intelligent as AP - and a lot of other former Muslims - could spend years in the frame of mind of putting aside their questioning, critical capacity, believing that obedience to a very questionable doctrine is the right thing and that their questions need to be suppressed.
I've been listening to lots and lots of ex-Muslims over the past several years, and this aspect of human nature has become especially prominent to me - the ability of even very intelligent people to be brainwashed into accepting absurd, contradictory, just plain wrong things and putting aside their own intelligence in order to believe it. But the good thing is that all of these ex-Muslims also demonstrate that intelligence can finally win out.

@@TagSpamCop Reading your quotations of scripture reminds me of a saying I heard: ‘To be properly understood, the Bible has to read with the same Spirit who wrote it’. Since the Bible is God’s Word and His revelation of His will, it cannot be ‘sliced and diced’ to just fit someone’s pre-conceived ideas of what God must be like. There’s too much to go through, but a few points:
(1) God’s revelation of His will was PROGRESSIVE and this is proven by Jesus repeatedly saying : “You have heard that it was said........”. In other words, Jesus raised the bar morally from just avoidance of an act (say adultery), to not even fantasising about committing it. What God told the Israelites to do nearly 3,400 years ago has no bearing on attempts by Muslim apologists to find some kind of moral equivalence with their current actions or those of Muslims in the 7th Century. The laws of God as given THEN, was for that time, and is in no way transferable to modern society. (
(2): Jesus was God in human form and since God is love, whatever Jesus said was done in love. As far as enmity within families, Jesus wasn’t advocating violence or hatred, far from it, he was just warning his disciples as to what WHAT WOULD BE THEIR EXPERIENCE. In relation to the Syro-Phoenician woman, Jesus was drawing out and proving her real faith, and after all he healed her daughter. (
(3) Being terrible legalistic, bound apparently to the ‘letter of the Law’, Muslims have no capacity for judging the spirit in which these scriptures were originally written, hence their misinterpretations. (
(4) After the Genesis 6 angelic intrusion into the human gene pool, there were born half-human hybrids which God simply couldn’t allow to live, since they had corrupted the human genome, hence the order to utterly destroy men, women and children.
There are a few points for you to consider. Please don’t resort to ‘cutting and pasting’ scriptures. The true path to the true God is marked by an ability to think for oneself and to think out of the box. Shalom 😇✝️🙏
You just described the path to recovery from Islamic mental illness. Took me 2.5 years to overcome it. Took my friend 4 years. Life is much better after.
My only concern is how does humanity treat Islamic mental illness when more than half of humans are either indoctrinated in Islam or believe any criticism of it is "Islamophobia".
It's taking me quite a while to recover. Been trying to find other people online to have a sense of community but honestly it's kinda hard especially being alone and closeted in a muslim community. It kinda isolates apostates by not giving them a chance to actually form any sort of community which sucks tbh. Best of luck to you two tho :D
