Bummer you had to redesign your OWB. I have a newer G200 Heatmaster and have been pleased with it. Like you my OWB heats the shop and house. The one thing is I have the gasification model and it definitely likes and works better with dry wood. Stay safe out there👍TCT
I wish I made the plate in tow pieces so I could get it out. You can see under there with the ash pan out from the bottom so I could poke something out if it got stuck.
Thats what I thought too but then I started talking to a guy that makes the part I put on next and he said it was a draft issue. I pulled the top baffle up and it was almost completely plugged up. After I cleaned it out really good it drafts way better and I don't have all that fire and smoke!
Big Iron right there. I've been rebuilding a central boiler 5648, I carried the door about five steps to the work table and back and it was about like watching you wrestle that plate. Where do you go down in Kentucky? I'm in south eastern Ohio, right about where W Virginia and Kentucky meet.
This has been a few days is the plate and snorkel worth it. Also did you have the plate drilled with those holes and do think they make a difference? Thanks in advance and have a merry Christmas.
I would choose that over anything else if you have a Heatmaster like mine. It gives air to the top of the fire and re-lights the gas. Otherwise it does it when you open the door and introduce air that way. Just the comfort and safety is worth it alone. Merry Christmas!
It's the simplest part. Keeps the draft from the fans un obstructed, the coal bed is actually coal instead of deep hot ash and I have very little in the ash pan.
At the end of the day here’s my real MAN question : have you ever bought ANYTHING …. That you didn’t come up with AND FEEL THE NEED to adjust and modify to make YOURSELF feel like it was up to snuff and like YOUD made it that way to begin with ?!?!?!? Me too either !!! 😏🙄😳😂😎🍺
Ahhhh a great idea for another project someday. Very cool. ✌️🇨🇦🇺🇸♥️
You guys could use it allot more months out of the year that we do!
@upinsmokefirewood absolutely!
Hello Steve, great idea. My old boiler is natural draft no fans.👍🇺🇸
I bet it's nowhere near as finicky!
Good stuff Steve! That fire was trying to escape til you shut the door! 😂
Turns out it just needed a better path out the chimney. Guess you have to clean them every now and again LOL
Good job mate that should work great and keep you warm .
Lord I hope so!
@ Yea we get colder the older we get.
That's a real nice welder. My plasma cutter is 15 years old and definitely was worth the money. Great job
I love that welder. I bought a $600 plasma cutter a few years ago and it gave up the ghost! Looking forward to the new one!
Evening Steve , I hope that baffle works . That was one roaring fire . Take care . 👍🏻🇺🇸🪵🔥
So far so good!
Great idea! That fire got wicked! No need in trimming the beard during boiler season😂 Good stuff Steve👊🏻
It was out of control!
Some days I miss my boiler. Said no one ever. I miss the heat, i definitely do not miss climbing around inside the thing!!!
It makes me feel like Dick Van Dyke in Marry Poppins!
Man that thing was definitely roaring!!! Until you shut that door😂😂
Yeah I spent a few hours cleaning it after I watched that footage and learned a couple new things about my boiler and it doesn't do that any more!
Man that fire looks angry!! It melted hand hair season for me😂😂 Have a great one Steve👍👍
Ha, spoiler it was from a problem with my boilers draft (since fixed!)
My Crown Royal RS7300 blows up thru the shaker grate but also has a blower and air tube above the fire as well.
That's a smart design!

thanks Tony!
hi there interesting . might have a bigger old ash not fall threw to the clean out bin , time will tell . good show , john

why is there so much smoke and flames coming out the door when you open it, is the chimney blocked?
It was! Not any more. I found out the hard way that the top baffle pulls out to clean it and now it drafts as it should.
looks like you need a new seal around the door and if possible I would shut of the fans when opening the door to load firewood.

You're gonna play hell getting that out if it doesn't work 😱
It's working like a charm so far. Fingers crossed

Yeah 1/2" is a bit of overkill lol. We go about an hour South East of Lexington near the Red Rive Gorge.

@@upinsmokefirewood would you change anything on the design of the plate?

Never LOL!
why not just try scrap cast iron hot water radiator segments?
This was a design sent to me. Part of the next upgrade in next weeks video.
I can smell the burnt hair from here😅
me too !
Melted beard season 😂😂 gawd i hope i dont melt my beard
Wear a scarf LOL
@upinsmokefirewood wait... that's actually a good idea
