ITS ALWAYS THE MAGENTA!!!😂 (but yellow is a close runner up for the title of “bane of my edible printing existence”.)

I have the Power Flush system from Photo Frost. It works great. You don't have to wait 4 to 6 hours for it to soak. It blasts the clog out right away. It has saved me so many times. It seems like the magenta is always the problem with clogs.

You don't necessarily need to soak the printhead for 4-5 hours. It will depend on how stubborn the clogs are. Even 30 minutes is often sufficient. However, the Power Max system does not require special faucet connectors, and barely any actual manual labor. So it's just another great option.

Thank you for this tip! Its very much appreciated! I’m sure we’d ALL be grateful for more edible printer videos, there are so few of them around and Lord knows, there’s always an issue. 🙈 even if that is not the case, it’s always good to learn something who uses it more regularly, as trial and error is pretty expensive when it comes to edible printing. Thank you again! ❤️

Thank you for making this tutorial. My Canon TS702 is supposed to arrive today 😀. I figured that edible ink would likely have clogging problems so I made sure to get the bundle (on the site I purchased from) that included a cleaning cartridge. However, I also thought there might be times when a more robust option might be needed. I paused your video and ordered the Power Max kit immediately so that I have it on hand. Also, thank you so much for including the test image! I thought I would need one to try to keep the printhead flowing since I won't be printing daily, but wasn't sure what image to use.

You're welcome Carol! I make sure to print a few times a week. Plus, if I'm not going to print for a while (like if I go on vacation), I always make sure to remove the cartridges, wrap them up, and soak the print head!

Hey Karolyn, thanks for the video. I have to ask you and anybody else on here, have you been having problems with the ink since they changed the formula? Ever since I bought new cartridges back in April I’ve had problems. I had my edible ink printer from Icing Images for two years with absolutely no problem. As soon as I got the new cartridges with the new formula ink, I’ve had problems so much so that I ended up buying a new printer just like you and now I have the one that you have. It was fine for a little while, but now it’s back to printing crazy colors again. I can’t tell you how many times I have cleaned the printer head. I’ve gotten all the air bubbles out of the sponges like they said. But it’s just still not fixed. I have talked to one of the managers at Icing Images and one of the customer service women over and over about how to try to fix the problems but like I said it’s just ever since they changed the ink formula. And if they just made this cleaner, I’m thinking, maybe they have people complaining about it. So have you had any problems since the new formula?

If i saw this video years ago it would have saved me 3 printers. Now hopefully I can get the magenta to work on the printer i have now. Because I'm ready for an eco tank printer now.

Thank you for this. Now, for the home bakers who may only use the printer 2-3 times a month, should we take the print cartridge out like you did when you went on vacation?

    • @KarolynsKakes
      @KarolynsKakes  11 месяцев назад

I don't think that's necessary, you can just print tester pages 1-2 times per week to keep the ink flowing. If you take the cartridges out, you'll have to clean the print head too. You have to decide which one you prefer to do!

I’ve had to buy now 2 new printers strictly for the printhead because I couldn’t unclog! It’s been a nightmare I even tried running my printer once a week after the second printer purchase and after the second week I had streaks n lines which you know what that means!! Ya had to clean it! Soooo even if I print once a week I was still having issues with clogs not sure what I’m doing wrong here….

    • @KarolynsKakes

It’s super annoying! I find that I’m frequently cleaning the print head just to keep the colors vibrant.

Thank you! I was thinking of getting an edible printer, but would only use it about once a month or so. So my question is, would I have to clean after each use, and take cartridges out to store in plastic every time I use it to prevent clogs? Love your content, and your beautiful cake decorating!

No you wouldn't have to clean it after each use. I recommend printing tester pages 1-2 times per week to keep the ink running through the system. It's only if I go away for an extended period that I will clean the system out and wrap up the cartridges!

It seems like a lot of work to clean it but when I see you create with it it looks well worth it. That's a shame you had to throw out a printer system. Next time bring it to Feasterville and I'll take it off your hands lol 😂. Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 😂💜

When you consider how much work it would take to hand paint an image on an entire cake (if you have the special talent to do so), edible printing is so much cheaper in money and time, that some special care for the printer is definitely worth it.

I haven't heard any issues about the new ink, this is the first one. I didn't get the new cartridges / ink yet, but will order it as soon as mine runs out. Hopefully I won't have a big issue with it!

@@KarolynsKakes oh, OK. I talked to them this morning and she said they improved their cartridges in June. I had bought mine back in April. Hopefully everything will be fine when I order my new ones. Not the one that’s called Max it’s the other one.

You don't have to with this solution. I'm sure I will still use it on occasion, really just to push hot water through the ports to clean it out before I soak it.
