It can happen that the ink in the color inkjet cartridges gets combined and it makes the printer print out wrong colors.
This is ink cross contamination and requires the cartridge to be opened and all components have to be cleaned.
This can happen if you overfill the cartridge or if you use methods of unclogging the print nozzles such as keeping the print cartridge in hot water for a long period of time or use other cleaning liquids attempting to unclog the print head nozzles.
The ink from one chamber can migrate into another color's chamber and alter the cartridge colors permanently.
There is a fix for this and you can see it in this video.
Showing how the printer starts to print streaks when the ink nozzles are dried out.
Also showing how to easily refill ink in your color cartridge after cleaning.
Please be careful when doing this and try to do this on a surface where ink stains are OK.
Only try this if you know you can do it.
Use common sense and STAY SAFE!

Use lots of paper towels newspapers or any paper to cover your desk and use gloves when handling ink.
This can be done on any brand and model of inkjet printer.
Demonstrated using a Canon MG2250 inkjet printer.

Color: CL-541
Black: PG-540

I have a confession to make.
When we made this video, a LOT of time went into it and it was literally a frozen video.

Oh MERCY!!! After watching this process, I appreciate the patience required to mess with cleaning, refilling or messing with the ink cartridges. I feel much better about paying the high price for replacements. That way I don't have to clean-up, fail or wish I was doing something else.
Note : To all who wants to repair any cartridges of Canon Cartridges I suggest to do it at your own risk. Canon Cartridges are air tight sealed cartridges so if you did'nt sealed properly the cover of your cartridges it won't work since air will flow underneath the cover of your cartridges. I did this since 2014 and it work only for black cartridges since color cartridges is really hard to seal.
Hi, @avidplayerexcel9412 I agree with you. I have tried this on a inktank cartridge. The black one works. The color one will draw air in the inktank pipes. Can you help me how to seal it properly?
@@sarlakhattar Use mobile folder pasting glue and dont put too much ink like the uploader or you will get vertical lines like him
Oh my bubble gum booty! This WORKED!! My printer dried out because my dumb ass left the heat on in my office 🤣 I did all these steps and OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! Literally printing like crazy right now. It was the color that gave me the trouble but I am golden now. Thank you again 🥰
Funny note, I didn’t have tape to close the top off so I used bandaid tape. Worked like a charm 🤣

Just done this before i saw this video. Just lift the tops off, remove sponge and wash everything under the tap. Leave head to soak overnight. Then dry, put few drops of ink on the jet inlet, refit the sponge. Then just enough ink for the sponge to soak up without any visible unsoaked ink to slosh. Refit the lid and taped in place. Works a treat.

I also have problems with yellow that looks orange, orange looks marron and consequently green is much darker, Magenta becomes dark blue, but I'm afraid to do that and get the lines since I need to print many docs with images and diagrams 😕

If you buy a refill kit, buy one with a cartridge refill support, is a plastic piece when put the cartrige to refill, and, also, after refill you can pull some droplets of ink, with syringe, without needle, and ink it will come faster.

Very good information. However, the nozzles and prechamber (channel under the screen filter that leads to the printhead) must be cleaned. This is the area where ink dries and is very difficult to get clean. I would recommend using distilled water heated to 140 deg F, then an ultrasonic bath. Clean for 5 minutes then rinse well with more distilled water. You need to keep cleaning until you see no more dried ink in the ultrasonic bath. Good luck! Also, always make sure the flex circuit is dry on the outside and inside before installing into the printer...the water can cause a short circuit and make your cartridge unrecognized in the printer.
I am using cannon mg3670 only for scanning rarely use prints. The catrige are dryer without using , any remidy to prepare or replace cartridge. Colour prints only red OK. B/w plain paper coming out.

I will use your method to clean my old Canon printer, but where do I buy the ink itself? I live in New Zealand and it can be hard to get certain items. Try to find local ink refill shops. They might do the refill for cheap or might sell refill kits. Otherwise ebay, amazon or local alternatives.
where can I find the same instruction for the HP 305 and 305XL tricolor? you see the dots of yellow and blue are opposite to what is on the label, here you have the same yellow and blue are opposite.
I refilled the hp305 followed the color dots then filled the yellow ink on the blue side and vice versa following the misleading dots on the label.
am gonna do what you did on this video and restore the cartilage.

I pry the using flat screwdriver....i take out the sponge in it and rinse with water and soak in hot water....can i also soak the cartridge hot boilling water?? Is it can break the chip attached to the cartridge??

It seems inject only about 3ml for each color, 5ml for black (but it's not much of a problem for the black on coz' there's no other color to get mixed with).

you can dry the sponge quickly by keeping it on a wire mesh and placing it inside any cooking vessel with lid covered,
Hair dryer on top first. Top comes off easier
When first installing it the printer will ask for permission to update the firmware. If the firmware is updated will this cause the printer to refuse printing after the cartridge is refilled ?

Peoples says after of 3 to 4 times in refilling and its head gets damage . Is it true ? Or it just gets jam by ink ?

It's true. The ink nozzles can be blocked and be fixed but if the electric part of it fails, you will have to replace the cartridge at some point. It depends on how many lines you are ok with.
I'd say 5-10 times refills are possible and after try to find third party cartridges

Great video, I didn't know it is possible to get to the sponge ... Probably you can get rid of the lines If you soak the head in cleaning fluid and then prime it with kitchen towel and vacuum cleaner.

I refilled mine 2-3 times but I dont use it and gets blocked again after few months

Use any tape you have, best is thinnest and similar to masking tape. Scotch tape masking tape, electrical tape anything

I TRIED THIS TODAY.
Since, I had no option left because my HP cartridge 680 Tri-color is terribly blocked. I haven't used the printer for 2 months so I did this process today. Removing ink from sponges is very hard. So, I decided to left it in distilled water for overnight. Let's see if it works or not. Please suggest something if you want to.
Try 50/50 ipa and distilled water and increase to 70% ipa and window cleaner 30% if still not good. You could try to repeat it few times.
@@IONHowTo So, after continously cleaning the sponges for two days in 50-50 ratio of distilled water and ipa with a little window cleaner, it didn't really helped. So, I put them in concentrate ipa, the sponges looks better than before. But, the magenta and blue one didn't get clean completely and I don't think it going to be as white as yours. SHOULD I CONTINUE WITH THE PROCEDURE OR TRY TO CLEAN THEM AGAIN TILL THEY TURN WHITE? (I cleaned it as much I could tho.)
@@shiwangi8310 it's up to you, at this point if it's still not ok, I would look at replacing it with original or compatible ones.

Yes you could try but IPA might be still better.
Try as long as it's only alcohol and no solvents or perfumes. Don't let it get dry on the nozzles.

Might work. If you have time to try it, why not give it a try.
Otherwise, new cartridge is always there as an option.
Hello bro , i have canon pixma g2420 with an error 5200
I filled the ink in each of the tanks, tubes and cartridge, but unfortunately the same problem is still present, and I also cannot control the commands via the buttons ( menu...) on the printer because it shows me an error (printed sheet count 2451-2500)

If you must have zero lines, you would need to get a new cartridge if it's this type with ink and print head as 1 unit.

@@movieslocation089 you can refill it, clean it like in the video if needed and try to be ok with a few lines left.
The more you use the printer, the less chances to get ink nozzles blocked.

16:39 your nozzle check sign is you need to replace your cartridge. cartridge lifespan is only 2year the Best way to remove that line is to replace the cartridge. Your cartridge is almost in the life limit used

If you can't get it working, you could try third party cartridges or even replace with original cartridges but it depends on the price of the printer vs new cartridges.

@@zelina364 you can't remove that small sponge. Try to get one of these: "ink cartridge suction priming clip" I will make a video about this hopefully soon but you could google it and find it pretty cheap. It draws ink thru the nozzles with vacuum. It's to use on black ink cartridges.
In the state of that cartridge i would buy a new one or a refillable one from another brand to start from new, It works yeah but the print looks like shit even after cleaning, Even if the off brand one might be lower quality than OEM it will look much better than what you currently have, Having all them lines would drive me crazy

Probably the electrical part is busted.
Get a replacement cartridge and refill that.

My printer is only using the color yellow whenever im trying to print pictures .. does it only need some cleaning of the cartridges? Cause whenever i look inside the printer i always notice that the blue and the magenta one is not flowing in the tube..
Need to refill them or clean them.
If you print at least once every 2-3 weeks and they stopped, you could take them to a refill shop or try it yourself if you have the ink.
You have already cut these 4 little walls inside the cartridge, am I right? I want to try to cut these walls at home and put some bigger sponges inside so they can absorb more ink

You literally made this entire process way harder than it needed to be. All you had to do from the start was open the cartridge to refill it. You pour just enough on top of the sponge and just give it a couple minutes to absorb the ink. Close the cartridge, tape it, done.
Not if the colors are mixed unfortunately. Try to print yellow after that
@@IONHowTo Sorry I didn't clarify. I meant prior to the colors being mixed. When you went to refill the ink initially. I never drill holes in the top to refill. I take the lid off as to not constantly "guesstimate" on how much I need to add.
Salut Dragoș! Mulțumiri pentru acest video instructiv. Din păcate, după cum ai observat chiar tu, problema nu s-a rezolvat prin curățarea cartușului. De ce? Pentru că dungile orizontale subțiri sunt date aproape întotdeauna de una sau câteva duze "arse", adică cu contactele întrerupte din cauza unei supraîncălziri. Ura și la gară, trebuie cumpărat un nou cartuș!
Problema era ca avea culorile amestecate. Cateva dungi au disparut dar unele au ramas. Ai dreptate, cartus nou e cel mai bine.

You welcome, i’m sure you will find it in china like AliExpress, There is also continuous ink systems to connect the cartridge through containers with tubes which gives massive ink solutions.
@@r240j it's everywhere, the continuous ink is not for me. We try to print as litle as we can.
A deep pitch voice and a continental accent means this video desperately needs sub-titles. I couldn't understand a single word.

or the printer will auto detect the ink level.
On this printer and most printers you don't need to reset the cartridges.
It says the cartridge is empty but it still works fine.
Some printers are more mean and won't let you print if the cartridge chip says it's empty.
For those, you can find third party cartridges or replacement chips online easily.
Best is to lookup cartridges info before buying a printer.

Try the printer nozzle cleaning modes on the printer, look in printer’s manual
How to Fix these lines
Hi, my cartridge spills everytime i refill it. I've only make a very small hole like only the pin of syringe can enter. When I refilled it, the colors went different because of spilling. How could I fix this problem? Please help.

salut , te rog sa imi dai si mie un sfat daca se poate , am o imprimanta CANON MP 460 , cartus color CL 41 nou , dupa prima reincarcare nu mai vrea sa printeze galbenul apoi dupa a doua reincarcare magenta printeaza foarte slab si cu dungi , singura culoare a ramas doar albastru , ... ce e de facut sa revina la normal ? ... am incercat sa ii dau clining de toate felurile din setari si nu misca nimic , tot asa se comporta , ... imi pare rau sa il arunc deoarece e nou , ... multumesc anticipat
Daca ai incercat sa-l cureti deja si nu e mai bine, trebuie schimbat... sau daca te lasa imprimanta - print using black cartridge only dar nu va mai printa color.

Now i opened my HP 21 Cartridge some time ago and broke the small partition and inserted a bigger sponge there by increasing the Ink Volume to 20 ml from mere 5 ml ,,, BUT alas i am not able to start the ink flow when trying to print (It Gives me a blank page and if i rub a paper towel on the print head it gives me some ink but if i just touch it without rubbing no ink is seen),,, ANY suggestions would be welcomed..
If you put the cartridge on a paper towel the ink should come out. If not, try blasting it with some warm pressure water or use suction from a vacuum to draw ink out thru a paper towel.
If ink comes out but won’t print. It’s contacts must be bad or damaged.

With mechanical pressure ink comes out, otherwise gives blank page indicates dry ink presence still near nozzle area of inkjet

My cartridge has gone bad and i'm trying to rescue it after a period of 5 yrs. Local ink fillers failed to fix this lining issues.

Use distilled water if you have to wash them. Better try that too before replacing them.
