How Venezuelans Penetrate Trinidad's borders

- In this video Journalist and Videographer James Lanser explores how Venezuelan migrants get from their coastal Venezuelan city of Guiria to Trinidad. This video specifically deals with West-Trinidad and East-Venezuela cross points.
It should be noted that although Chaguaramas is the closest entry point it is not the only entry point.

Trinidad and Tobago does not have borders, we have coastlines, the Coast guard is not doing what they are supposed to do, also news around is that a lot of illegal stuff is coming through the legal ports of entry, so somebody "eatin ah big plate food"
Right
Great information indeed. Now I guess your next video will be on how the Syrians used that same route to transport their drugs and guns. ‘Tis I wait with bated breath.
Exactly 👌🏾
Well, does Trinidad have a large Coast guard to keep a track of approaching vessels around the island ? Drug smugglers are using submarine type of vessels to transport illegal drugs and weapons. Hard to track those, if you don't have the equipment to track them. ruclips.net/video/qBq35ilprvg/видео.html
@@ncci70ie This has been a known issue for over 25 years, and how many new boats have we gotten since? Trinidad and Tobago is not that large, the proper coordinates and gridding can make a difference, they need to do more, because what ever they are doing definitely isn't working. There is always help from and working with foreign nations.

Great info, but the majority of Venezuelans come through our south coast. The drive is literally 30mins via boat

Guys I went to Cedros and maybe a video on it too!!! Ahaha

Very true.
My father and his family came to Trinidad 🇹🇹 through Cedros! He stopped after a boat 🚣♂️ he was on capsized and there were sharks in the water. He told us of the horror they faced; a shark 🦈 took a woman’s baby, some who could not swim drowned because they had no life vests. It took him a long time to get over that horrifying experience.
Do one . How the Syrians control the money system in Trinidad.?
Well when they work hard they reap the benefits.
Dey does work...
LOL yuh want d man to get assassinated like Dana Seetahal for eg.
Having the mindset of being your own boss. If all those CEOs and Directors had this mindset things might look a bit different in Trinidad and Tobago.
Daz probably he family lmao
I believe you need to give minister young your drone to give to the coast guard because like they don't have any so they can fly over the islands in the gulf.
They do need to be supplied with modern technology. But what does the average citizen know.🤔
Lol that still waste of time
As a Venezuelan/Trinidadian I am proud of our regional culture and beauty of our people and our scenic environment. Thank you for educating us.
Este video es pura musiquita, puro closeup del tipo, minutos y más minutos sin contenido, y mucha pérdida de tiempo. De "EDUCATING" → Nada.

I appreciate all your videos as a Trini out here in California US. I share them so people know about what has been going on with the migrant crises from Venezuela.
The country is very nice Trinidad,I am a American citizen don't let people come and corrupt your country bless up
I’m a Trinidadian and it ain’t nice anymore unfortunately bless to yuh too brudda
Every country in this world are corrupted and sadly our country, that's LADEN with resources will attract governments in fraternity with devils , as is my beloved country ,Trinidad and Tobago, besides is not the first time Venezuelans has ever migrated because of the dictatorships , as it was in the 1930s Perez Jimenez dictatorship, many trinidariands has got Spanish surnames,as a,consequence of them being a descendant to Venezuela roots
A few of you criticized James' use of the "border" term. It's really just symantics in this instance people. Perhaps "coastline" was the more technically accurate vernacular, but any adult viewing the video should have still comprehended the main message of the report.
Would you say that T&T has closed its coastlines. How does fit in internationally?
@@islandgirl3330. Didn't the video already answer that question Ms. IslandGirl?
Only if the adult has the knowledge that Trinidad is an island. We don’t have borders.

If the Ven situation does not change, they are going to outnumber the Trinidadian population and with their track record they will fight the weak Trinidadians and government, as they are already doing, who will not have the guts to stand up for their country. Just my opinion. Its coming. You better learn Spanish. The greed for money and corruption make things worst. Some people who are on this planet for a short while just think of their pockets and don't care how they destroy their country. One day these people will treat the locals like garbage.
O Gosh brethren easy we up with the music
Fr
I really appreciate the proper way you vlogged this. Well done!
No Venezuelan wants to leave their country unless they're wealthy and have a house in Miami. It's a survival thing. Do you think they like our murder rate, xenophobia and gang violence? No. And don't treat Venes like they haven't done anything for Trinidad. Many of our families came from there and still have ties. What amazes me is how slow the UN Applications are moving for relocation and this is a problem even before Covid.
If they don’t like it, there are several other countries neighboring them they can go to. And maybe they do like those things since it’s similar to what’s going in their own country. The nerve of you to make snide digs at our county while feeling entitled to live here.
Trinidad is pretty small island. I would think it would be easy to catch them once they are there.
That's what I'm thinking this whole video 🤣🤣🤣.
This is eye opening and I really wish there was more we could do the contain and fix the issues with Venezuelans crossing illegally.
One of the first things the former PM did when she got into office was sell the high-tech coast guard boats the previous PM had bought, so for five years T&T were operating on some really low-tech boats. Then again, everyone knows that our coastline is totally open. Their population is about 30 times that of T&T and at this rate it would take just about five years for them to be about 1/3 of our population.
LORD HELP US😮
its the same method the narcotics enter as well, you forgot to mention.
Good point
He not talking about drugs.. he talking about migration
It is unfortunate but that's every country so no real news there buddy!!
Trinidad is a very tiny island in the Orinico delta. Native peoples have been traversing the waters for centuries...even up and down the Americas, on every island, in their little boats! We’re also actually closer to Venezuela than to Tobago. Don’t forget that we been going to Venezuela (and other islands) that way too.
Not at 60,000 at a timr.
Trinidad and Venezuela were once connected too
Venezuela stand up for Jesus, live truth live catholic, our helper Holy Spirit.god bless Trinidad and Tobago our godly gates.
They come in from Moruga and Chatham as well.
They come thru the gordenau river from chatam to debe
You are bringing awareness to all these problematic people that would in the end bring down 🇹🇹 please keep reporting this will bring more awareness to this situation Thank You ❤💪🙏

Your attempt to explain how Venezuelan citizens enter Trinidad and Tobago does have its merit in its approach to HOW it may be done. However you keep using the term “ MIGRANT” throughout your video, which is absolutely ridiculous. These Venezuelans cannot be considered as migrants, since they enter into the country outside the proper “legal” channels. Therefore those entering Trinidad via your description are considered “ ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS “...not Venezuelan migrants. There are proper ways of “migrating” from one country to another across international borders via air, land or sea. Anything outside these proper channels are illegal and those found to be doing so can be prosecuted by law. Also, don’t be fooled by those dock owners talking about the reduced influx of illegals. In this world...MONEY TALKS my young friend. They’re not going to expose themselves if they’re up to any wrong doing as long as they’re being handsomely paid.
Trinidadian politicians sell passports to the highest bidder. Since those illegal immigrants aren’t poor do you simply overlook ?
Protect us Lord and thank you for keeping us abreast.
It's a sad situation, as many are leaving due to wanting a better life...BUT, they become victims of trafficking and smuggling in this process. Not to mention the stigma, discrimination, and exploitation by local citizens. This may lead to Gender-Based Violence, poor mental health, and STI/HIV transmission. What I have noticed is many Venezuelans are using technology to migrate. In close to legitimate ways by going onto social media sites and capturing lonely and irrational men and women into believing they are in a relationship and asking for assistance in documents and /or apace to stay. What is sad is to unsuspecting, nieve locals they believe in finding love in a relationship on Facebook or Instagram and put their lives at risk. The result you are harboring an irregular migrant who may affect your life here not only by just being illegal and being a fraud but they could produce anchor children at the state's expense to stay or transit to another country.
Down south Rio claro they come along south Seas where car's pick them up through very high bushes at night
I don't know how the other venezuelans came here but I did reach by airplane from Caracas landing at Piarco airport.
lol
Did you get a long stay visa? I hope you stay legally.
Thanxs for this vid. I'm from Trinidad and I never realized the two countries were that close. Very informative vid. Another thing, all those large boats docked in Chaguaramas belong to trini?
Wow what r they teaching in schools not knowing Tdad is close to Venezuela
Venezuela, like Guyana, should be a tropical paradise. They should be raking in money from oil, tourism and expats. Instead, they have been badly mismanaged and are poor and listless. So sad.
Informative video as well as great editing 👍🏽
I was thinking you went the trip from Chaguaramas to venezuela and back to make this video. I would sure like to see Giuria
Trinidad is such a black market country eh its scary but our whole economy depends on drugs, narcotics, crime and other things when you look at behind the scenes.... With regards to the immigration this is amazing info.
Boats with “Latin American feels”, interesting!!! Never thought about it hehe Interesting video by the way. Greetings from a Latin American (Panama) living in Barcelona, Spain
Really think that “penetrate” was the wrong choice of word. It paints Venezuelans as criminals for entering Trinidad, which is kind of inaccurate given the current situation. Also Trinidad and Tobago does not have borders, that’s an Americanism. We have coastlines.
we have borders miles off of our coastlines. Like most borders there is no physical evidence of this. You are confusing the specific Mexican border (which has a physical barricade to prevent entry) with the general word border. Every country has borders my friend. Whether it be land or sea. That is what makes you a country. Our borders and Venezuelan borders are many times a point on contention.
They are criminals if they enter illegally
It is a crime to enter a country illegally regardless of the circumstances. With our without borders, any country has immigration laws that should be followed. You're the one inaccurate here.

Thanks for your video, I remember when I was a child my parents used to take us to the beach, because I was born in Separia 🇹🇹 and show use Venezuela,
I’m from Siparia too
Not wanting to be negative, but most if not all of your footage showed Trinidad... Alcan fishing depo and our islands....the video lacked any real credible info...all you showed is what we know...other than an ad for the camera man.
Some Venezuelans even come across from West Africa
We should place permanent ferries in place between the two cities (Port of Spain and San Fernando) and Gueria in Venezuela. It is the only way to ensure safety and reduce illegal migration. Migrants would need to register on arrival and pay taxes during their stay here.
That what the TT goverment need to do but if the are criminals there self who care
Just now trini would have no place here vene would take over now trump posting thm here we suffering enough already
The question now is how to solve the problem...what can be done to help those in need of it?
Solving the problem starts with pointing out the source of the problem.
The rulers crate horrible economic conditions.
All this time, we've been duped into hating another people's for fleeing horrible rulers.
But that is just the problem...
Thats exactly what they do create problems. So we need a different mindset to solve....js
@@caribbeangirl100 The problem is society follows the rulers with out thinking.
The solution is to think and act as a collective, apart from the rulers.
keep their best football talents make them Trinidadian and then send the rest back.
Good job young man!!

Great work ! Concise yet informative.
We need a wall.
In the sea??
No a Dome hehe

great video man . i am from guyana and learned a lot
sorry not very well researched. There have been over 200 points of illegal entry into trinidad and tobago identified. including Guayaguayare, Marouga, Icacos, and La Brea just to name a few of the other well known sites and everyone already learns from school that Venezuela is only 7 miles away. What are you actually trying to say and or prove.
South is closer less coast guard patrol too
They're in Guyana plenty 🥴🥴
Interesting videos gd job!
This is just for some nincompoops out there who are quick to say there are no borders just coastlines. Please be aware that there are certain areas in the sea that are restricted from entry, just as entering the airspace of some countries. Stop criticizing.
Let me just say this as a born Trinidadian... in my country money talks and bullshit walks....everybody running racket and I don't like the idea that people from other countries coming to mines and taking over this goes for the Chinese nationals as well....because they dont support us but we always have to give them our money ...whether is Chinese food they selling or there physical bodies
Some of these comments r unbelievable the comment about a white boy with Trini lingo u know that's not new there has always been white Trinidadians
Good reporting James, thanks for the content.

Great video, James. Love the drone shots! Keep them coming
Spectacular video James! Keep up the good work 👍
Bro good info I see you did some research but really and truly bro they mostly come in from south Trinidad like cedros and mon diablo fishing bays because it is closer to a town or city in Venezuela which has more human activity and sort of like a well know fishing area or bay ....that part for Venezuela from the north western side is more forested and lightly populated and to travel in Venezuela to that point to take a boat is a tougher task then just entering south Trinidad
Hence the Venezuelan population is dominat in south Trinidad
@@voiceofthetruth8047 Pretty soon they will move up further because it will get too crowded. Waiting for COVID to go away to visit my island to see what is left from my childhood memories.
