      Yep! I work full time while taking classes at AM. But everyone's life is a little different. I know some of my friends work part time. Or dont work at all to focus on class. I will say I am fortunate enough where im at my desk most of the time and our computers are pretty beefy. So it deffinitely helps when I take my lunch break, I can fire up maya and work on my shot a little more. I will say AM's Artella system is awesome when you are working between multiple computers. And if you are just working off of one computer, its great to still have your shot there and you can roll back to previous versions if needed! (As long as you save and upload to Artella frequently)

    • @ganserproductions
      @ganserproductions  3 года назад +2

      Hello! Weekly work load looks alot different for other people. Our assignments are due on Sunday at 12pm PST. So what I typically do is work on my shot in pieces for an hour or so after work throughout the week, then Friday night and most of Saturday I really use to push as far as I can get my shot on. Sometimes even a little more on Sunday. I like it because its still alot of work, but you can pick and choose when you want your class to be, and you can find the time to work on it as you see fit. What may help is to checkout the Students of Animation channel I am working with my friends on! We have plenty of tips and tricks over there!

    Hello! I just wanted to ask how big the school is and whether it is doable with a full-time job? I hear alot of good things about the school but I also wanted to know whether there was any downsides e.g. the people who dont find jobs or dont end up with a good reel at the end of it. I understand that a lot of factors would affect that e.g. motivation, finances etc. The student showcases look awesome though! Would love to get to that level.

    • @ganserproductions
      @ganserproductions  2 года назад

      Hey! I'm not sure how large AM is actually, My guess is somewhere around 5,000 students globally. I am actually working full time while taking classes so it is doable! Depending on your job of course. Luckily my job is at a desk most of the time, so over my lunch break I can fire up Maya and work on my shot a little bit. Their Artella system is awesome for that! Makes switching between different machines so much easier since its all synced to their server! One great thing I learned is there is a constant need for animators just about anywhere now, and all of my friends who graduated (almost instantly) got a job in the industry! the AN06 class is more of a class dedicated to making your reel the best it can be and tailored to what kind of job you are looking for, depending on if your goal is to get into tv, vfx, feature film, etc.

      Nothing! A little computer knowledge does help since you will be working with it the most. But you can start with the Maya workshop with no knowledge at all! They teach you the basics and how the software works. Then starting AN01, you start learning the fundamentals of animation and start learning as you go! I started with pretty much no knowledge at all when it came to Maya, only very little I learned through blender since it was free and the few tutorials I followed on the internet. Yep! They dont have a full course like they do for 3D Animation, but they do have a couple workshops for 2d Animation! If it helps. Most of what you will learn in 3D animation can also translate into 2D since most of what you will learn is the mechanics and principles of animation. So you can get into 2D pretty easily if you take their courses even though they are mostly 3D!

      It's hard to choose! I typically check what time the classes are and pick the ones that work the best for you. Then I would go though their previous classes and take a look at their critiques on other students submissions. That way you can tell what kind of things they look for in the shots, and how they give feedback. It varies between each mentor and depends on if they are typically in games, film, tv, etc. Overall, You really cant go wrong! You can really tell each mentor loves what they do and they will do their best to get the best resources for you to learn and grow!

    • @ganserproductions

      Of course! I didn't know anything getting into AM! I would start with the Maya workshop: Animation Basics, they will teach you the layout of Maya and how everything works, then work your way up into some animation exercises. Once you are done with that, you will be able to start AN01-AN06!
      Of course the more you work with Maya, the more tools and settings you will use and find. But the Maya basics workshop is the best way to start! Maya can do a lot more than just animation, but they really did a great job on narrowing it down to just a few tools you really need to know, and plenty of exercises to get you comfortable and ready to start learning in AN01!

      Nope! This is 1000% my honest opinion of this school! Its online, affordable, and amazing to get feedback from alumni, peers, and mentors all in one place! We all work together to build each other up and its truly like nothing else I've experienced! I am currently in AN05 and even after having to re-take classes a few times, I still definitely recommend it! A few times I failed some classes, but that was just because I was not ready to move on yet. And at the end of the term they give a thorough review on your work and what you should focus on to improve! Every class I've had the mentors were great and always checked in with everyone in class to see if anyone had specific questions or needed more help. Its also awesome to have multiple mentors from different studios so you can learn different workflows and find the best that works for you. AM is more of a 3D animation course, but they do have a few 2D courses as well! Either way, the main principals are the same!
      I know there are many fake videos and posts out there for advertising. But I can definitely say 100% This is my pure honest opinion on the school! I've been to a local community college, looking at going to a larger school, and none of them come close to what AM has provided! If she is looking towards animation as a career, this is an excellent choice! One example of the community, a group of friends and I have actually created a RUclips channel called Students of Animation, where we share tips, tricks, experiences, and sharing just about any useful information for other animators out there! ruclips.net/channel/UCF_NHQ2Is5qXVVn4UO1n49w
