Fouling players with poor free throw shooting abilities has always been a tactic in basketball. Especially against dominant centers who were typically poor at it. In the 90s when Shaq became a dominant player the tactic was called “Hack-a-Shaq”.
Appreciate the confirmation, definitely makes sense to utilise the fouls for advantage
The furthest the Bulls have gotten since MJ’s retirement was the 2011 Eastern Conference finals (Derrick Rose’s MVP year) where they lost to the first year of the LeBron-Wade-Bosh Heat in 5 games.
The Bulls were back as the 1-seed in 2012 and were looking elite, but D-Rose tore his ACL in the first playoff game and the Bulls collapsed and subsequently lost in the first round.
They had a few good teams and runs to the Eastern Conference semifinals in the mid-2010s but that was it.

Another thing to consider about Utah is that of all cities in the US, Utah consistently has one of the best home field/court advantages in the league because they play at elevation, which Utah players are accustomed to, but the opposing team is not. So for Jordan to play with food poisoning, and at elevation is a superhuman feat
Whoever gets fouled gets the free throws, unless it’s for technical fouls. Then the best shooter usually takes those

No, the Bulls haven't won a championship since Jordan...if Derrick Rose had not gotten hurt, I think he would have been a generational talent and won some rings.
