If Fentanyl was around there would hardly have been a single band left from Seattle by 93.

True. Crazy how terrible fent is but pure smack is so much more pleasurable. Both are evil if used out of context and not for pain issues.

@@rsohlich1 Hi Oregone..Yeah agreed.. Its disturbing watching it tear through places like Philadelphia. The need for repeated dose at a much higher frequency creates more risk along with the randomness of dose, even out of a single bag, and the fake blue oxys are a lottery.
Also Fentanyl seems to be a lot worse psychologically for people. I'm in the UK, don't think its as bad here. Still cut gear about..I've been off for quite a while though.

Heroin didn’t start coming here until the early 80’s, at least in masses. I think it was just coincidence , coincidence that heroin came into the city the same time a burgeoning music scene did . Musicians /artists are attracted to drugs , that’s nothing new . There might be some other factors ( like our weather making people depressed ) , but I think they’re pretty small factors

Factor in the fact that Seattle and it's suburbs were going through a very serious recession, and the economy was tanking!! That brings conditions that lead to heroin and other hard drug usage, going up!!

My dad has been in the seattle rock scene and was close to many big bands. He closely knew all the heart memebrs before they formed, another big 70s band was the heats or as they were known the heaters. He knew the wipers in the late 70s and helped malfunkshun a ton He start a band booking company in the mid 70s for local bars events etc. He knew susan silver managed screaming trees soundgarden alice in chains. My dad also helped alice in chains before they really were something they lived in the neighborhood and he had a indie recording studio so he did sone early stuff before they were even aoc. Acording to him heroin was always around but really blew up in 1970. The conclusion of vietnam brought home men and their craving for heroin so heroin reallt exploded everywhere in all classes by 73 he said it was more than everywhere. But everywhere then isnt like fentanyl today thankgod or wed be living in a decimated society like what is coming in the near future.
Like anything it depends where and who youre with. But id say my dad being in the rock world and booking bands managing etc had a good scope on things. He has always been sober never smoked pot never drank even a sip of alcohol never used drugs he just loved rock music and hated drugs so im sure there was even allt more around then he even knew as je didnt use so others would want to keep that infro from him. He ended up closed his booking company by 1988 as it was to chaotic with drugs and the scene was starting to get alot of outside interest right before the grunge era exploded internationally it made it hard form him so he ended it after 15 years . He called ir quits and went to boeing and got into magement where he still is today. Drugs really suck, as fun as they can be that mever last, drugs should be used lightly and on rare distant occasions not monthly weekly or daily . Even drugs like pot arent harmless and require mature usage to not be mismanahed and abused. Drugs will never improve the outcome of ones life it will only hurt it in the long run . Feeling this qay i still believe druga ahould be legal and people should be able to access them through a doctor. Using the doctor as a guide to prevent or atleast inform the user aboit and how to prevent addiction and being a slave bit if u want to throw it all away i belive nobidy should tell you you cant use as you want. Only because worse drugs will always pop up and make it worse. They bamn a drug the replacement is 2 3 4 5 or 10x worse so legalizing drugs will keep the drugs in demand or circulation safer and easier, heroin was way easier to kick or treat then fentanyl. Pain pills beinf clamed down drove people to heroin and pain pills were alot wasier to treat controll than heroin.

As a 53 year old Seattle native and someone that was completely immersed in our music scene, I hate hearing it referred to as the “grunge scene” or “grunge movement”. Locals never have or ever do refer to our music scene in the 90’s as Grunge. It’s a word used by people from outside our fishing village that refer to it as grunge. Dead giveaway you’re not a NW music man at heart.

There was no more heroin in Seattle than LA, Boston, or New York. And honestly, they should of just let Kurt do what he wanted. Leave him alone.

His Heroin thing is none of my beeswax. His daughter, wife, money, family. Are all off limits to me. I'll just stick by his art, poetry, songs, lyrics, music, etc. Nirvana related stuff. Due to out of respect to Kurt Cobain. Not only as his rookie not groupie fan. As an individual in general. Why give him any bs crap about it. 😊🤗

I get your point but I think its all very intertwined. I don't think its any form of betrayal to try to see the traps he may have fallen into. Maybe actually useful for some. I didn't feel comfortable reading his diary when that got published so I see where your coming from. Although now I think he may of had foresight enough to expected that to published one day.🙂

I've not read any of his diary journal book. I bet he would've made a great author, philosopher, painter, writer, poet, chef, etc. I've checked in with American Spy Fox and he has a lot more data info based on Kurt, Courtney, Frances. But I may not be a fan of his content/concept. Due to private, personal detail on the Cobain fam.

@@bloodyzebbidy It's dangerous for people to look at it unless done in a _deeply_ serious, hermetic, personal and immersive manner. Any passive analysis of the topics the original commentator mentioned (his family, money, addiction etc) will inevitably result in obtuse, biased, divisive and shallow projections of what was like anyone (but likely more so with such an intense creative/melodic genius) a *highly* complex individual. A muddy, simplistic and even sardonic amalgamation of what was inevitably not just a _FAR_ more complex person - but _situation_ - as well.
One that would only serve to push everyone further from the Truth of who he was. It's actually very much the situation we are in now regarding Kurt Cobain. Millions of casuals who think they have Cobain - his personality, motivations, circumstances and demise - largely figured out and wrapped up neatly in a DGC, CLove/Charles Cross, Danny Goldberg packaged cliche that they can regurgitate in anauseatingly superficial soundbite or social media comment.
Something they can shoehorn in as an exclamation point on whatever narrative, ideology or precept they're trying to push anyhow. Like he's less a person and more a framed meme to hang on your wall like "You Get Out What You Put In."
Anyhow, sorry for the spiel. I agree with the original comment and like many of us, Kurt Cobain's art is very important to me.

Astute observations from Art Chantrey. The concentric circle model for people insulated by whatever they're into, it's not uncommon. Sometimes it doesn't even require something like a drug addiction. Just enough willing accomplices to play the pied piper for someone who more than likely doesn't have an internal dialog of their own. Plenty of other things besides drugs to lead a person off the rails. Hello 21st Century political tribalism.

You're right about rich junkies dying, but you left out one important part. They don't kill themselves. Not by shotgun anyway. They'll overdose, but they don't kill themselves like Kurt supposedly did. And why would they? If you've ever been on dope you'd know how it becomes your whole life. A junkie with tons of money is super happy because they can do as much as they want.

    • @Doyouevenart69
      @Doyouevenart69 Год назад +2

That’s a pretty over generalized statement and shallow assumption. I’m an ex junkie in recovery and money was never an issue for me, I always had dope, neither of those things inherently kept me from being depressed. Living life as a junkie is depressing no matter what condition your life is in. In my experience and experiences I’ve had with other addicts, it’s a pretty soul sucking and joyless lifestyle no matter who you are. Also, unfortunately people kill themselves all the time. The idea that he had money and an endless supply of dope, so therefore he was “happy” could not have been depressed and killed himself is preposterous.
