Obviously Madlib is a legend and u gave him a lot of praise, i dont think you gave enough credit to freddie on the versatility of his flow and how he adapts to the beats, you listen to any of madlibs instrumentals and they are never the easiest beats to rap to but i think freddie just showed how he can adapt his delivery to anything and thats why i think gibbs is real special and got somethin not a lot of rappers got

LOL, it's so funny to see all these "real hip hop" rap nerds whining about Freddie Gibbs. MF Doom and Madvillian are great, but not every MC Madlib works with have to be this weird, abstract cartoonish persona that only alternative/underground rap fans have to appreciate. The beats are as great as the rapping.

Hmm...sounds interesting. Can Kendrick's high pitched nasal way of rapping match up to Madlib's production? as you have seen, Gibbs and Doom could, bc their damn flows. I'd wait until Kendrick was a bit older. I didn't think Kendrick could make anything better than GKMC, but TPAB came out and I was pleasantly surprised. Now, can he top TPAB, or will he, like other legends, begin to make some less successful LPs? This idea would be a fantastic 4th album for Kendrick, I'm sure it'd be better than GKMC and Section.80

Just wanted to throw an opinion out. This whole album is an absolute masterpiece. One of the best hardcore/drug/gangsta rap albums ever. But the real opinion is that I believe Thuggin is a gangsta rap magnum opus. I love all the songs on this album equally, but I feel that thuggin is the song that truly sums up the whole album and genius collaboration altogether. The three verses are all perfect. I feel like the verses ascend in urgency and importance. Again, this whole album is incredible. One of if not my favorite album of all time. But I just feel the essentiality of thuggin every time I hear it. I say damn every time it finishes 😂

Loved every second of this album. Definitely one of my favorite rap/hip-hop releases of the past several years. Madlib's production is fantastic. I love how you pointed out his production style has some psychedelic qualities to it. I felt the same way. Freddie Gibbs surprised the hell out of me. He flowed effortlessly throughout the whole thing, like he was tailor made for this album. He's legit.

The passion when he reviews quality material is there, plus I'm not a music head whatsoever, much more of a gamer/film enthusiast/manga-comic book nerd. But everybody loves music. Before yesterday I had heard of Madlib and Freddy Gibbs but never listened to any of their music, for that matter I had never seen any of theneedledrop reviews. Let me say I am pleasantly surprised by all. Your reviews seem to be well thought out and based in genuine experience with the music. Pinatas was an incredible surprise, the beats were great and Gibbs' material was on point. As an 'old schooler' and with what is being sold to us as "hip hop" today, hearing this album was refreshing and helps restore my faith in the genre. Great work by all, keep it up!
