Ps: Regarding *Debbie Thomas.* I remember so clearly when she was in the Olympics. I was in College and because it was an HBCU (🐯 #GSU4Life), the streets around campus were deserted! ALL of us were in our lounges and rooms in the dorms watching and cheering her on. When she fell the first time, that hurt. But I still remember the next time she fell and we realized that was it for her; she would not be getting a medal. We poured out of the dorms and everyone was crying and hugging each other. It may seem weird now, but Debbie was our ONLY Black figure skater so, in a way, when she fell, we all did. Man! Weird, how I still remember that.
Hearing that made me instantly remember Richard Pryor's line "WHAT?? I'm not white! Do you know a lot of adjustments have to be made!" - See no Evil, Hear no Evil
"have you ever thought of using dogs?" Why yes, they have: Jamaican Newton Marshall ran the Iditarod in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. He finished twice, which is brilliant, because many mushers scratch about half their attempts. His book "One Mush" tells the tale...
" I didn't know that Jamaica has an army who made Jamaica mad? I don't know how you can be mad at them if you are something wrong with you" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I died at that part and clearly he hasn't heard the phrase We likkle but we Tallawah
"...and intense concentration for up to four minutes, none of which Jamaicans were thought to have." Not feeling that joke at all, but loved the feature of Devon Harris. 🇯🇲 to di world!!!
I think the point of the joke is that that is what the world or at least the "Western" world thought of Jamaica, not that that was true, at least not among people of culture. Also, to the shock of the world that Jamaica was able to pull it off being a tropical paradise.
I truly wish that Roy could do more of this segment. I would be down to watch an entire show of just Roy doing CP Time, covering various historic black figures, and actually getting to interview some of them as well.
This Ugandan saw a photo of David Emong as Tofiri Kibuuka and was confused for a second 😂😂😂😂 PS: David Emong is Uganda's most successful paralympian, winning silver in Rio and a bronze in Tokyo 🇺🇬
There’s a great documentary episode on her on one of the streaming services. I think the series might be called ‘Losers’ (obviously about exceptional people, she is not a loser).
The segment wasn't nearly long enough to mention everyone who has competed or medaled in the winter Olympics. Not that there were many more but it was a super short segment. He didn't mention my personal favorite either. The figure skater Suriya Bonaly.
He was packing parachutes and rolling doobies for the Jamaican army. Looked at a bobsled; “What fun joy it be to race downhill in a Giant spliff…watch da style!” The Jamaican bobsled team was born. Probably the (only?) coolest thing about the Olympics to date; The Jamaican Bobsled team. V
I am Ugandan and I didn't know that 😂😂😂 🇺🇬 what the heck was he doing all the way there😂😂😂😂 But it is of course a heck of a great achievement...i gotta share this with a lot of other east Africans🔥🔥 amazing
Mr Wood’s pause and then triviata call out was dope. I obviously don’t get the joke but I laugh along anyways knowing most of us don’t get it. Well done, adding culture to the culture.
It did make some sense. It was my understanding Jamaica has a sport where people drive self made pushkarts down hill and that's how they recruited the bobsled team as well
This particular segment was a masterclass of comedy. Perfect setup and nock-em down.
As a Jamaican who watches CP time all the time this made me ☺️☺️ big up yuhself Roy!
yuh know!
It's the accent for me. Slays every time :)

Uganda here. Didn't know about the man Kibuuka but I'm glad to learn about him on CP time #ForTheCulture.

"If you mad at Jamaicans, the problem is _you_ " 🇯🇲
