Danny Carey has talked about having soooo much used saved content... he talked about wanting to do another album with Tool before he gets too old... I pray they do.. Tool is the greatest band in the world..
The first track is like nothing i've heard from Justin before. Has the oriental touch, then shifts out into something you'd hear in an Interstellar type of movie, in and out and then finishes with the beefy ending. And then into Descending. Wish i could've seen them live back then, but i didn't even know them until 2017-2018.
@@connormccullough2226 I thought so too, but it turns out that Justin has Synesthesia, so he's seeing colors when listening to music. My guess is that this trippy line is... well, trippy for his eyes. He's playing what makes him see pretty and/or trippy colors. I don't know if that's the influence he went off of, but it definitely doesn't sound like random gibberish in bass form. With a delay pedal. Pretty interesting to play, too, almost got it down completely, effects and everything.
Holy fuck that transition into the bass riff of Descending was the smoothest thing I’ve ever heard, it took me a second to even register what I was hearing
Guitar rhythm is descending, Bass feels like a combination of pneuma and invincible, Drums are similar to some in fear inoculum. This song really is like a birth canal to a lot of things on the album. Which is why it's kinda annoying some people just shrug this off a early version of descending

There may be an ‘Ascending’ track that’s released in future- I truly hope so! These live sound clips certainly tell a story. There’s elements I prefer in this live clip of ‘Descending’ in the second half, than what ended up on the album. Sacrilege! Haha.

I think you're right about the time signature. For a couple years they played around with this piece, even used it as an intro to Schism once. Definitely finds its home with Descending, but for one reason or another didn't make the cut.

My favourite Tool album that isn't performed or written by Tool is 'Cognitive' by Soen.

In my humble opinion, TOOL should have scrapped one of Fear Inoculum's interlude tracks and included this bad boy instead.

Had the basic structure written well before the release of FI. THey did the same thing with "wings for marie" during the Lateralus tour
