      If you ever think about selling your popup I'd like to be first in line. I'll know your popup will be better than new off the showroom floor. I work with a guy that used to live in Elkhart,IN which is where most RVs are made he told me some real horror stories of stuff being put out of the factory. Main point I remember is you never wanted to buy a RV that was put together on a Friday.

      Sounds good. My in-laws brought a brand new rockwood hw296 a few years ago (subsequently sold it), but it had a leak/hole in the water holding tank straight off the lot.

    Where do I get the slide rubber for the lid.?

  • @skipwilliam5639
    @skipwilliam5639 3 года назад +2

    I had the same thing on my old camper I replaced the entire insides . The rubber around the lid was missing chunks when we bought it so I knew it needed work. I went to a auto recycling place (junk yard ) I bought a trunk rubber that goes around the body of the trunk and used that for the rubber seal. It worked perfectly

    My storage area is completely gone. Gonna tackle it next month. One thing I’m going to try and use is red guard or aqua. Defense. It is a roll and paint on membrane used to waterproof custom tile bath and showers. It can be used over plywood, Sheetrock , fiberboard . Makes a complete waterproof shield . Should work great.

    Did you ever find out where it was leaking? Mine is about like yours. My braces are rotten a little more in the corner I believe. I think mine is leaking from the top hinge somewhere. I was just curious if you had to remove your top area to repair the leak?

    Great video showing the water damage repair. We have a 2009 Jayco 1206 which has a very similar front storage box with access door as this one, actually it's identical just not as tall. Had it out twice this year and both times in the rain and I noticed a bit of moister just inside the access door of the box after our last trip. No water damage that I can see on the surface, but now after watching I want to double check underneath the flooring. Wondering if what caused this damage is happening to mine. I like the new access door that was put in, might think about doing that on mine.

    • @ItsPoppin
      @ItsPoppin  3 года назад

    omg. that was great. i just discovered i have some water damage too. i'm not fixing it , i'm selling the camper. i took 1,000 off the asking price. that should cover time and materials to repair. great job. my problem is trying to fix the crack on the covers on the cover . thats how the water got in.

    Did you have to cut the linoleum? Any concerns with cutting that away from the single piece of the rest of the floor? would that open it up for water getting under the rest of the floor. same problem on my 2016 Coachmen Clipper 108ST Sport

    • @ItsPoppin
      @ItsPoppin  3 года назад

      Yeah, I cut away the linoleum. If water is getting on the area where the linoleum was, there are water proofing issues elsewhere so I wouldn't worry about cutting it away.

    • @ItsPoppin

      Agreed, I'm sure that's why manufacturers either got rid of them all togethrt or made them standalone plastic boxes independent from the main box of the pop up.

    I think you’re going to be happy with adding those triangles in the corners of your rough opening. The will do a lot to keep that opening square. The triangle is a really strong shape. Did you glue them in as well?

    I am blown away with each vid that you produce. Thanks for the tip of using JB Weld wood restore, I was unaware of the product, (old dog- new trick). We always find useful information in every vid produced, by we I mean Wife, and myself. Wife would smack me if I watched without her. Larger access panel door would allow me to store our 4 solar panels w/ cables in a padded rack. Thank you for the inspiration, and information that each vid gives us. For future ref. Don't ever Cut metal at a straight 90 degree angle and leave it, Vibration will propagate a crack there in most cases, . Always Round off your corners. apologies if you did that. I think i would have cut the front section out and replaced it, using the cutout as a templet. But good job never the less.

    • @ItsPoppin

      Good to know. Like I said in the video, wish I would have rounded the corners out to match the new door anyways, which would have saved some work - lol.

    Nice restoration of that storage box, I have a very similar 2010 Jayco 1006 with the front storage box. Had a leak in the exact same area but mine was coming in from the screws holding in the piano hinge on the lid of the storage box. Caught it pretty quick but got water in the storage area and inside the camper along the side up till the door. had to cut out the linoleum so it could dry. There is no gasket material behind the hinge, I think they just put sealant on the screws. I plan on taking the lid off and putting a strip of butyl tape behind it and rescrewing it back in. For now I ran a strip of white duct tape across the hinge area. Just keep an eye on that. I'd hate to see you go through all this work to miss a spot.

    • @ItsPoppin
      @ItsPoppin  3 года назад

      Right on, that might be a good use for dicor self leveling lap sealant on top of the screws. I double check that area of the lid.

  • @mollieandresmatias4832

    Our old one did that! I believe it's because it wasn't leveled correctly when stored. Whole box rotted out.
