Still the scariest chase in the series for my money. I love the chase in the first Halloween, but in here, Laurie is in an even less familiar setting (at least in a house you know where the door is) and is running for her life on an injured foot whilst drugged out of her mind on painkillers, it’s that survival instinct that keeps her going.
for me it’s the revamped score that makes this chase more effective. those ticking notes in the background present even more urgency for the situation to me, making Laurie’s whole escape that much more engaging. i love the malevolence behind this version of the score 🤘🏻
@@lucasgrezaud6582 That is a good point. I agree with you, and what I think is particularly neat about the Shape Stalks Again is that it begins exactly like the original with the simple piano notes, then all of a sudden it throws these new sounds into the mix which instantly creates a heightened level of anxiety and tension. It’s very effective both in the film and on its own.
@@horrorfanandy4647 100%! question though-what’s your favorite version for the Halloween theme? from 1978-2022 of course. i dig the Halloween Ends (End Titles) version the most because of how high it builds at the end-it’s the only version of the theme that i can recall doing that and i just love how intense its peak is, kinda like a progressing fire (which suits the film)
I had serious nightmares of a chase like this when I was a kid, I’d scream and scream and in my sleep and then my mother and father would come rushing into my room to comfort me and then after that I had to sleep on their floor mattress for 4 weeks. Dick Warlock the greatest Michael Myers all time. The walk is bone chilling perfect.
Any time I've had a Michael nightmare, it's ALWAYS Warlock. I've had fucked up Michael Myers dreams as a grown-ass man lol every time I see this, I'm reminded that Laurie is 17. Could you imagine how terrifying a situation this would be for a 17 year old girl?
Could not disagree more. Dick Warlock plays Michael like he's an android in need of an oil change. He walks so insufferably slow and moves like a machine. It's just dumb looking. Nick Castle simply moved like a man. He walked at a normal pace, often quicker when trying to close in on his victims. When Laurie escapes, it feels like luck and it has us on the edge of our seats. But Dick just slowwwwly moseying across a parking lot giving Laurie every chance in the world to escape and then WALKING THROUGH A GLASS DOOR? Ok.. he was intended to be this mysterious embodiment of evil, not Evel Knievel lol.
@@jeremymfontaine dude michael got freaking shot so many times, obviously he can't walk normally, so dick warlock kinda did play michael right, plus about the glass breaking what would you expect from michael? He's just built different after all, Just saying
@@deetan3631 Well which is it? Is he built differently or is his affected by his injuries? Lol. He jumps up from the shadows in H2, climbs through windows and walks through glass doors...seems fine to me. It's just Dick's interpretation of the way the character moves, that's all. I just think it's a strange choice and it's one that subsequent stunt actors latched onto and copied. Again if you watch Nick Castle in the original he does not move like a stiff robot.
Correct, Dick Warlock was by far and away the best Michael portrayal. I'm aware of Debra Hill's negative remarks of his walk but she's just wrong. He's not walking like a robot, either. He's walking like something non-human. And, both the original and part II serve as the perfect transformation story of the character, from something more human-like into something more and more supernatural. I'm not interested in what their intentions were or weren't, it's the result that I admire. Warlock's walk is highly disturbing. It communicates strongly a "man" on a mission with nothing else mattering to him.
According to the commentary of *"H/>LLOWEEN 6: The Producer's Cut"* with writer Daniel Farrands and film composer Alan Howarth, Michael's breathing sounds were done by Howarth himself.
Halloween II was my favorite sequel, I could have said it would have been a great ending to the other films. But people really loved Michael Myers so much they wanted him back, and you know what, I loved him too. At first I thought this sequel would suck like many others, but this one was not bad. I like Carpenter's return as the composer, and Dean Cundy's return to serve more crazy and really cool shots is fun. He has a very unique set of skills like John does, and the shots are really awesome to watch.
I liked Halloween 4, the idea that Michael had been in captivity and in a coma for 10 years. But where I think they messed up is not bringing Jamie Lee Curtis back. They loved the name so much that they called the little girl Jamie 😂
Best chase scene of the series the way Laurie running for her life and Micheal's just walking like it dosnt matter how fast you run I will get you he just dosnt seem human in this Dick Warlock amazing

Yep, different actors and plus I believe Dick Warlock didn’t want to completely do the exact same thing that Nick Castle did the first time. Seeing as how Michael had been injured several times since the end of the original Halloween (injuries that would be severe or even fatal to most anyone else), it actually makes sense that he might be walking a little slower or stiffer due to this.
