Shields off is like driving in the rain with the windows down. Lol, I will be using that one in the future. Just saw Deville's video, and I'm so psyched for you to have your own board! Congrats on everything!
I dunno how much skaters follow the news but RIP Tyre Nichols. His passion was skateboarding. He was a skater since age 6. His local skatepark held a vigil for him. He was one of us.
I feel like Andy could have fun skating anywhere and it would make an entertaining video no matter what. Enjoyed this casual sesh! Appreciate the share.
Classic Andy and Dan moment where Andy starts a badass line and then stops it to bait Dan into filming nothing too crazy for an extended period of time 🤣 loving the vids Dan 🤟
I live in Arizona and have skated for 23 years. always kept my shields in because i NEVER HEARD OF TAKING THEM OUT ( except for cleaning). I had sets of bearings that lasted years. Started taking shields out in the last couple years, and bearings were getting destroyed one-by-one.
From working in auto repair for years I know the importance of the bearing race shields probably seems like a silly topic or thing to worry about. Here Andy shows that the shields indeed keep bearings lasting longer. My theory on the bearing race shields are they are absolutely needed to reduce wheel seizing. That might not seem like a big deal but it goes along with wheel bite, to simplify ... shields = rolling away more often vs seizing from wheel bite, because you probably don't imagine your bearing flexing a lot but it does flex a fair amount from impact and it also bends out of rotation which dramatically reduces the life of the bearing
thanks to everyone involved in this video for the show. you guys are all amazing. out of this world man. also thats why i use ceramics , they dont dent (used them a year now no shields) and its not like driving with your windows down the rain does not blow back out
"38 seconds of not a trick..." That's 37 seconds longer than what I would have lasted. Poor tree and bench , just minding their business. This was the funniest session EVER!
Andy's right the sand goes in and sticks to the grease in the bearings and it is hard and scratches the bearing balls. Glass is made from sand so it's like having little grains of glass against the metal a lover, them yiu're putting your body weight onto it, like 160lb of pressure drilling the sand into the balls, plus stair set drops etc. The sand there like here is very fine and micro scratches the shit out of the bearings. Like a car, imagine all the sand the goes in and doesn't all come out even when you vacume. So if you clean your bearing eveey time you sk8 it still isn't enough cause they're scratched up.
Damn, Ray Corey is a beast. Skating that tripple set like it's nothing. btw those videos all seem so high in detail and quality of the video. With what device are you filming them? Newest iphone or something else?
I used to do that little ollie north kinda trick that Zach was doing at @1:57. They're so stupid and so fun. I tried it down a small set one time just goofin' around and almost killed myself though. Dumb idea.
Andy is 100% correct a shielded bearing will out last and out perform and unshielded bearing full stop. When and unshielded bearing is brand new it will obviously perform well but over time the the rain is going to get it and damage those seats so roll your windows up boys and girls
Shields ALL the way as you need them to keep the dirt and moisture out while retaining the lubrication for the bearings. If you don't mind buying new bearings constantly because you like the sound they make when shieldless then be my guest. They spin slower as well due to the lack of lube and added grime. I don't know if the Bronson Shieldless bearings have a special coating or are made with different materials to combat the dirt and lack of lubrication?
Once the shields get bent at all, gotta chuck them they actually slow the bearing down when bent. So be careful when you take them out to clean your bearings or you will ruin them.
The Powell team is legendary and full of genuine and amazing people. Much love and respect to you all.
🙏🥂
@@DanCorrigan I love the whole powell team as a whole and each skater on Powell individually. You are all awesome, talented and inspiring.
Lol that's sounds odd but I think you know what I mean 🤔
@@Unlockingparadoxes poo poo on your nose

"It's like driving with your windows down, the rain that comes in is going to go out!" What an analogy
Love you guys out casually having fun with nothing. These are the best.

He’s just Mike V reincarnated

try cleaning them instead of throwing them away

Mental framework skateboarding displayed for corporate learning!
I can’t be assed to name tricks anymore but those Vairal thingys were awesome! 👊
Could there be anyone more fun to skate with than Andy Anderson? Dude make anything a spot!
Ive always been shields on.
Its like everyone needs a lil extra protection
i just can imagine being there with all of the team, hope one day this come true.
I expected this to be a video of Andy Anderson sitting in deep meditation for its entirety.
I wish this was longer... :)
Anybody else just hit the like button before even watching Dan’s videos like I do? Guaranteed good content.
That last line he made shows how creative he is how did he just come up with that on the spot 😭
Can't wait to see the footage of Andy's trick in the new Thrasher. An NBD that will NBD again 😂

Andy doesn't do tricks. It's art
The rain that comes in is gonna go out. Andy Anderson 2023 🔥
So beautiful when Andy broke the bark off that tree
Looking forward to hear this sesh quoted as a skateboarding origins story from the kid at 05:00 lol
Andy destroying stuff (or not) is cool and all... but Dan slappy-ing stuff is top tier
Bless you kind sir
I second that.
Buttery smooth sesh 💯
3:48 - This bit about Powell Team credit card card.. bruh
I leave my shields on. Like Dan.😁
Good quality title

🤣🤣🤣🤣 but if you leave the windows up, no rain gets in at all! 🤣🤣👌🏻
Shields on make them last longer, but I hate taking them off cause I clean my bearings.
Hahaha... That was 38sec of not a trick! ...Dan Cracks me up.
luv this vid shields in !!!
Any timeline on an Andy part? Woulda thought he'd have something out for Etnies and/or Powell in '22.
andy's still fun to watch in the parks but these street videos are my favourites
Experimenting with Andy 🥵🥵🥵

It’s like driving with your windows down… the rain that comes in is gonna go out. 😂 suspicious facts
3:50 if a pipe cleaner was a person

I just keep the bearing as it comes. If you have a good product, it'll preform well.

Loose balls were so noisy in the 70's. My first Power Paws were a godsend with sealed bearings. Stealth mode for sure.
