- A quick rundown of the room I've been staying in my last 119 days onboard Odyssey of the Seas. Near the end of the video I dive a little bit deeper into my thoughts about what it's like socially on a ship. I'll speak about that in more detail soon!
You can also find me posting Shorts, Reels, and Tiktoks regularly as under @bryanjamescruises on every other platform.
For the OG's that have been watching my videos the past couple years, thanks guys. A ton. More longform stuff is on the way. I hope ya find it interesting and slightly entertaining.
Hi Bryan! Thank you for being so kind to our daughter, Olivia, on your last sailing. The Beatles songs reminded her of her dog, Penny Lane, and cats, Desmond and Rigby. She'll never forget the memories. She's catching up on your videos. You have a new fan!
You guys were the best! I loved the fact that Olivia loved The Beatles even more than I do. Tell her hello from me!
Thanks for a great Cruise last week! My son Jameson loved signing with you.
Jameson is the duuuude!
Glad we were able to sail with you on your last cruise with Odyssey! Thank you for sharing your music with all of us!
Good luck on your next position! I fell in love with cruising and really enjoyed your content!
Hello again. Cant wait to see you on Utopia. I've got 2 cruises booked so far on that ship. Aug and Nov. We also saw you on the "Royal Caribbean Blog" in his video. We were in the background listening to you in the video. lol. Beyond that, you create a great memory for people when you sing. Thank you for being an entertainer.
I'll for sure be there in August! I'll see ya soon!
Yeah
What I wouldn’t do to be at liberty to be a cruise ship employee
Sounds groovy
Ty for sharing!😊
Hate cruiships, love ur honesty. Courage for your next trip.
Good friends are priceless!!!!
Everyone needs em!
I love you content keep it going !
Can't wait to hear about the new ship.
Same!
Love the video. Thanks.
Cruise ships not goving wifi free to employees is unacceptable
Honestly a human rights violation. We have to help
The fact that they don’t supply the crew with ample amounts of cartons of cigarettes is horrifying. Free cigs for the crew!
Maritime Internet is super expensive.
Currently, Starlink offers 5TB of data to ships for $5000 a month. This may go down in price in the future as a majority of Starlink satellites in orbit currently do not support high bandwidth mesh networking. The reason Starlink is cheaper for non-maritime is because most Starlink connections are only going through a single satellite node, being bounced to a ground connection. The satellites over the ocean do not have that option and have to use the low bandwidth mesh networking to get the connection to a ground based facility.
Edit: Remember, the 5TB is not limited to passengers and crew, but also would be used for ship operations/connections to their home offices.
But they do provide free accomodation, food, gym, a salary, huge discounts on drinks and friends/family, i think they’re fine
@@user-lr4bk9ui4tfree hookers too. It’s lonely on the 7 seas
Yayayayayyayayayay long form content!!! The day has finally come!!!!!
Hahah thank god
@@BryanJamesCruises But for real! I watch a short and it starts over and I'm like WAIT KEEP GOING!
Hubby and I will be on that ship in August! Hope to see ya there.
I was thinking of working on a cruise, but after seeing how small your room is or the chance I may have a roommate, I'll definitely pass 😂 Still love your channel ❤
Amazing stories 😎😎🚢🚢🚢
I’ll be on Utopia 8/5. I look forward to hearing you play!
Yes! See ya soon
haven't seen this dude in a bit, nice digs.
Much appreciated you watching the video
Can’t wait to see y’all play on Utopia!
Soon soon soon!
Agh. Saw you on Wonder of the seas last year and we are on Odyseey of the seas in July so bummed to see you leave. Best wishes.
Some very clean editing and j-cuts if I do say so myself 🔥🔥
Hahahh oh man, not my best work but thank you. Just needed to knock something out for my first video.
@@BryanJamesCruises haha still lookin forward to some spicy long-form vids from you, keep it up brother 💪🏻🔥
My favourite RUclipsr making long form content 🙌🙌🙌🙌💦
😂😂😂
What's the labor rights/organization situation like on the ships you've been on? I know dockworkers can have strong unions, but I'd imagine it's a much more difficult situation for the crew on the vessels themselves. Considering they're always moving, connectivity with the outside world is at a premium, the employer provides but also controls lodging and food and healthcare and pretty much everything on board... it sounds formidable to organize in an environment like that.
Ur a natural.
Cant believe you got off the day i got on... lol
We are booked for Utopia in early October. Now I'm going to be trying to spot a famous youtuber on board lol.
Love your videos man! I’m a cruise ship musician/youtuber as well, but I’m still growing my channel!
Do you shoot with an insta360?
Never mind! Saw your phone in the mirror in the bathroom lol! It looked like you maybe had an insta360 magneted to the door and then to the necklace pendant thing for the crew mess and tv part.
Hahah all good! I bring really nice gear with me but I never use it. Maybe starting these longer videos will get me in the habit. Overall I'm so lazy, so the phone really gets the job done 99 percent of the time
what is your next ship and how long is your contract on it?
What essentials do u pack for the first time? I have a 6 month contract
Hey, do you know a good recruiter I could speak with for a cruise ship job, my background is in law and I'm based in England. Loving the content!!
Do you get to choose solo cabin ?
One of the RC ice skaters uses free Wi-Fi at some of the port ministries or cafes to upload her videos
nice vision pro lol
It's been a lifesaver
Do you keep an apartment or storage unit with the remainder of your life?
That's one option! I'm really fortunate that my parents hold onto a few important things for me long-term. I try to keep my footprint as small as possible.
What is pay and benefits? There is a small chance I will try become mechanic on a cruise ship. I heard not everyone gets every accommodations/perks is this true?
The mechanics on ships that keep it all running are engineers. I think the salary would be around $12000 per month. Look into naval engineering programs for sure!
@@BryanJamesCruises would they hire someone with A&P (Airplane mechanic certification)
I just came across the article on your crew member cabin on the brand new Utopia. These ships need to make crew member's rooms bigger. The rooms are a step above a prison cell. There is so much unnecessary extra room on the ship for passengers that it's honestly disturbing to know that the crew is living in such tiny and uncomfortable rooms without proper accommodations (very limited cabinetry space; length of bed is too short for someone as tall as you are; bathroom shower is so low that you have to duck your head). A shared bathroom dies not give much privacy. It's constricting and not adequate. These ships should treat their crew members better.
Do you like Wanderlust Alley? :)
He is so cordial and handsome, I would not mind at all sharing a cabin with him for 8 or 9 months. 😎
What are officer cabins like?
They are really similar in size and style to the cruise director cabin. Depending on how many stripes you have as an officer, you might have a slightly smaller or larger version. I have short video on my page about the cruise director cabin about 10 videos down.
Hi papa bryan
Hello my child
Hello
Can't be claustrophobic
That cabin was quite large for a ships cabin.
I’m sorry but Royal needs to give employees free wifi. It’s 2024 everything goes off internet. It’s a turn off that Royal doesn’t give employees free wifi.
first
First comment on first longform video. Will never forget
@@BryanJamesCruises Thank you bro!
Brian....clean your room bud.
It’s his last day
Can you smoke cigarettes in your room? I want to work on a ship and just rip cigs in my room during down time
That's a big no, unfortunately. If you were to be found out, you'd be terminated. The ventilation in the rooms is all connected, so other people would be able to know pretty easily.
@@BryanJamesCruises ok thanks. Back to the coal mines I go
Gross. No inside smoking.
@@Smart_Think why? Everyone’s doing it.. you must not be one of the cool kids who ripped cigs under the playground at recess growing up
Hii. Is there a way to message you?
I just have a bunch of questions about working on a cruise ship.
Like what's your job, what kind of ecprience do you need to do it, how did you get into it, etc...
Can i send an email?
