Punk isn't about what bands you listen to, or what clothes you wear. It's about a mindset of living life to the fullest and not caring about what other people think. The Clash and Green Day are both extremely influential, talented groups who embody the punk ideal (or used to).
Can you imagine if you were one of the guys who got up on stage to do a dive and almost 20 years later you were looking on RUclips and saw yourself on stage with what is considered one of the biggest bands in the world today?
there's still this girl that i think about from high school, its been 7 years since graduation and she never knew how i felt. this is why i love green day, every aspect of my life has been epitomized in several of their songs. I actually had a dream about her the other night and woke up in a cold sweat, crazy.
Damn, I love this song! I remember seeing them way back in the day (in Austin, TX) before Dookie. So cool to have seen them live before they hit it big. Of course, I love seeing them now, as well! This video, though (even though filmed while they were in the UK), brings back some very cool memories. Life is so badass!
they're not sellouts they've just grown up. I love their old stuff and their new stuff equally, its just different. Just because its more popular doesn't make them sellouts.
Actually, Dookie and Isomniac are way more "punky" than their underground stuff, and in Warning and American Idiot they start to talk about political stuff instead of their old love themed songs. I think punks only don't like money, there's not that much about being "true", "rebel" or actice politically. Descendents and Ramones talk about love all the time and punks fucking adore them. The fact that Green Day became popular not much time before Blink-182 and cia also doesn't help.
@TAcobjobCO I believe he started this show playing Blue, and then either broke a string or had a wiring issue and had to switch. Also, I found it intriguing that they used to play in such low tunings... the low E string here sounds almost as low as a D! I guess it was for Billie's voice.
DUDE I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Reminds me of the good old times when me and my friends partyed with greenday all night long...that was in the 90's ....i miss those times.. :(
tre cool’s so important to this band. mike & billie are great but how hard is to find a drummer of tre’s qualities for punk rock? any other drummer wouldn’t lift their songs in the way Tre does. it gives the songs power
Great song by a band that is still wonderful! Whatever you say about the newer stuff they've made, wich i find really good, it's one of the best bands on this planet! Peace.
@Blackenedwhiplash Yeah I knew that but early shows were always somewhere between E and D. I also learned most of those songs by ear, and Paper Lanterns was hard because its not exactly in D if you know what I mean. Thanks for the comment!
@sdjp1991 Actually, their first album, 39/Smooth, was in standard E tuning. Paper Laterns I know was originally in D tuning, I don't know if that whole EP was or not. Then Kerplunk! was when they started using Eb tuning, which they did until Nimrod where they switched back into E tuning and kept it that way. I know this because I know how to play almost all their songs and a lot of them I learned by ear.
God, i love this song and this vid. makes me wish i could go back in time...Billie, Mike, and Tre' are the best. I bet Al was sad he went to college when Dookie hit mainstream...

July 27 is GREEN DAY DAY! Every Green Day fan must support the band that taught us that it was ok to be the minority and how to be a Basket Case It doesn't matter if you liked them since 39/smooth, Dookie or American Idiot. Wear any T Shirts, jeans, hats Request their songs to radio stations or play their music on your ipod If you're a fan of this band, spread the word of this to everyone Post this on any RUclips video with Green Day Music videos, fan videos, ect

The guitar solo, that's why I'm here
Green Day at their best.
I don't know why but I just love how he sings the part "but my pen was writing wrong so I said it in a song"
That’s my favorite part one of my favorite Green Day verses

@@randomperson4570Still waiting for an update?
I wonder if Billie just searches these and looks back like ''Damn, we've come a long way.''
Well, if not.. I sure do.
aastheniaa he actually does. He has talked about watching some of their old concerts on youtube from like ‘89-‘93
@@landoflogic107 They've never forgotten where they came from, which is awesome.
could have watched this, could have read this comment too
Billie got friendzoned so hard he had to write a song about it.
Tbh you got a point, most of his music that’s in kerplunk and 39smooth was about being young and We can sort of all relate to all his problems
I thought it was about him confessing his feelings?
@@ayo_its_bri5544 I can relate to Billie in so many ways
Best comment I've seen😂
@@ayo_its_bri5544 that’s the judge’s daughter i believe. but all those songs had that common theme
This is so raw that the FDA had it checked for salmonella
😂
