They claimed my piano recording of fucking Debussy
A band I was in did a live, public cover of a PARODY of I Love Rock and Roll. I uploaded a video of it because I sang lead and my friends and family wanted to hear it. I got hit with a copyright infringement notice and like 90% of the sound was removed. I even gave credit in the description. After I complained to RUclips it was restored, but I thought wow, there are millions of song covers on RUclips that don’t get removed. I guess we sounded too much like Joan Jett & the Blackhearts or something. I guess I’ll take the compliment. 🤷🏻♀️😂

I do cover songs, and every single song, whether it be a parody, My lyrics, My background track, or a pre made background track, Every single video has been copyrighted with them running adds on them. I am a small channel so idgaf, I get no revenue either way. but it does suck.
UMG doesn't give a shit if a video is monetised or not. If they claim a video, they get a choice on what to do with it.
1) Completely remove it from RUclips (even if a the claim gets contested by the creator and they immediately retract the claim, the video cannot be restored. It HAS to be re-uploaded.)
2) Unlist it or make it private.
3) Disable monetisation on the video if it was enabled.
4) Split the ad revenue with the creator (They get to choose the cut they take, up to a 99% cut.)
5) Divert ALL ad revenue to them. If the video was not previously monetised, this option will enable monetisation and they will receive the ad revenue as if they uploaded it themselves and it was always monetised.
