- This is going to be a video series about an impacted canine getting a braces treatment at Tooth Time Family Dentistry!
When a tooth fails to emerge through the gums, it is considered to be an impacted tooth. This commonly occurs in the case of canine teeth.
It is important to treat an impacted tooth in order to prevent the improper eruption of nearby teeth, cyst formation, possible infection or other negative changes in the jaw.
In order to determine the correct treatment for you, your dentist will examine your teeth and radiographs to determine the position of the impacted tooth as well as the condition of your gums. One of the treatment options is to surgically expose the tooth in order to guide it to the right position in your jaw. In most cases, you will need to have space created in your jaw through orthodontics prior to the surgical treatment.

My ortho just did this to me again for a tooth that wouldn't straighten. This was after filing between my teeth. After it only looking slightly off, it looks completely off now. He did the same thing you did with the rotation wedge and wire tie on that single tooth. I just don't get it. It's like the tooth butted out more the 1st day and is completely out of line. Am I missing something?

Ok you may not know this account but I watched your videos along time ago, when I first got braces! I had my braces for abt a year now. Today I just got

I have had removed impacted canine and baby teeth I am waiting for a gap to close I just got my braces 2weeks ago

I have this case also. They were creating the space for approximately year and a half. After year and a half I had impacted canine exposure surgery and I waited almost 6 months for the teeth to show slightly. My surgery was done in july 2020 and now it’s November of 2021 and my tooth came down completely. Now I need to push my teeth back on the right cause all of teeth are pushed about 0.7 mm to the left. I am waiting for my dentist to start that process but I don’t know how long it wil take but I am dreaming of removing my braces in summer. Be patient it takes a long time but it’s going to be worth after the teeth starts coming down!!

you can do a tooth restoration (broken in the front) before putting the braces on

Do dentists reuse brackets? Do they get sterilized and get used again or are they all brand new?
