Here's my theory on what this story is: they are both lonely but they cannot be together because of what they are, the boy being winter and death and the girl being summer and life. They are incompatible in every meaning of the word, being complete opposites in nature. Because of their persuasion over nature their very existences do not allow them to be anywhere near each other without something disastrous happening, thus making them forever alone.

It's not either/or. They're metaphors for each other: winter = death & summer = life. They're also dependent on each other: living things depend on decay/dead things to sustain life (like fertile soil), while death comes from life.
Summer can bring death as well in other extreme environments like dry season were vegetation & water is low. I think it’s more spring & winter, since spring always is full of life. I remember watching documentaries about Africa wild life & how terrible dry season or summer was for them.

Just stay alive no matter what ridicule happens to you and please remember there are other countries that deal with the exact same thing! Oh man, this was such a wonderful short film. But the moment I saw the puppies I knew there was going to be some tears, and I was right. I know not every story can have a happy ending, but the scene where they're playing with each other at the end was the closure I was overjoyed to see.

Actually the whole thing was about the seasons changing. When death (the boy) was gaining on life (the girl), it killed everything, like in autumn. This caused life to be afraid and try to run and hide, like in winter. But right before death completely overtook life, it retreated, like in spring. Then life came back and brought everything back to life, like in summer. Then at the end, it was just showing the continuous balance between the seasons. :)
I just don’t understand why the scenes and the characters are so cute and beautiful but on the whole it gives people a very depressing feeling? It’s just beautiful omg😭

The love and the curiosity between that can never be together the opposites that want to be together but are pulled apart. The sad truth of the world is that to many are opposites that compliment each other but can never be with each other only with another that the other can not love. On the bright side they can always be friends.
