Here's another fun fact. National Bandstand was the name of an Australian Dance Show that may have been inspired by American Bandstand. It was the show that Olivia Newton-John and The Bee Gees performed on in the early days of their career. Also as many of you know Barry Gibb wrote the theme to Grease. For Olivia doing the Classroom Scene must have been so surrreal. Her late Father Brinley aka "Brin" was a College Professor who worked his way to being a College Dean and her Big Brother Hugh who became a Doctor attended the same School their father worked at. When Hugh decided to apply their Father said "Don't think you're going to get in because you're my Son and if you are fortunate to get in, you'll get no special treatment!"
Decades observation - This movie was made in the 1970's and it was a big difference 20 years prior - 1950's- However if a movie was made today about 20 years ago - you really couldn't tell much of a difference.
I love when the T-Birds mooned the cameras on National Bandstand, then the principal claimed that she had the FBI investigating the case, and if they turned themselves in they would have leniency. As if the kids would have fallen for that.
The movie probably jumps forward in time. When the first forty minutes of the movie all cover events in the first week back at school, they had to make a big leap forward to get to graduation by the end of the movie. I suspect a bit of time elapsed between the drive-in scene and Thunder Road.
We install intercom systems and every time we do a page all that sound comes on. Matter fact we’re in a school putting a new intercom system and the lady at the front just told that that sound reminds her of this movie. 😅
