I heard somewhere that there was a scene like that in the original script, where they were checking their pianos to make sure everything would work right and joking with each other.
I love Eddie’s reaction to the canon. The PTSD he suffers from is no joke. The idea of toons killing each other as a funny gag seems to have disturbed him as a result of his trauma.
This was simply the greatest and most magical crossover in fiction, Donald & Daffy interacting like this is pure gold, even Mickey & Bugs shared a scene!
Funny enough, they had to share scenes because the two Studios (Warner Bros and Disney) agreed to let Touchstone Studios use their characters as long as there was no favoritism to either Company. So the Most Important Mascots had to be in the Same scenes to make sure there was no extra screen-time to either side.
The way they’ve made all the cartoons and real life stuff work together so seemlessly is a marvel of filmwork. Even though we’ve had many films do these sort mix between cartoons and reality, none of them will ever really capture the charm of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I think the best part of WFRR is how it depicts every character b4 they get to the max stardom they have today. Either they're just "those ducks" or Mickey and Bugs as some local characters that Eddy knows from his days on the force. They're never depicted as super Stars the way Roger is and that's because Roger is supposed to be the hottest new actor in this world, while everyone else is just an up-and-comer. It really adds a lot to the world and gives you a sense that the humans and toons aren't in a movie.
Actually, since HFWR is an allegory to Black segregation in Hollywood during the Golden Age its more like they are superstars, but they're not accepted in normal society. Remember Roger talks about Goofy and Disney has made pictures at least up to Dumbo. Daffy and Donald can't perform in normal theaters so they have to go to underground joints (probably an old speakeasy) to do work outside if their shorts.
@@blainehauswald3070 Interestingly, both Donald and Daffy's original voice actors (Clarence Nash, Mel Blanc) did a few radio shows together in the 1940s, one of them being The Burns and Allen Show.
