Hi! I hope you're all doing well! 💕 I know I’ve made quite a few feather swirl videos over the years 😬, but I recently watched another soapmaker on RUclips make a really beautiful feather swirl soap (Shonna of Nezumi Soaps - ruclips.net/video/WB34VWuuUvo/видео.html), and she inspired me to make another one. I think the feather swirl is definitely my favorite soap swirl technique. 😊 If you have any other swirls, techniques, or ingredients you’d like me to try, be sure and let me know! I can use all the soapmaking ideas I can get. 😁 Thanks so much for watching! -Holly :)
Hello from Oklahoma Holly! I think I've found the "Holy Grail" of soap recipes!!😃👌A few days ago I tried, for the first time, your feather swirl technique, and also using your recipe. I did swap out the lard for beef tallow, cuz that's what I had on hand. I'm new to soaping, and still in the trial and error stage, and haven't landed on a soap recipe I really liked, until NOW! I love that, unlike other recipes I've tried so far, that I can unmold my soap in less than 24 hours, and it's nice and firm! Not squishy and tearing on the sides. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning when it comes to unmolding my soaps!🎄🎁I just can't wait to get in there and get them cut to see how the inside turned out! I'm having so much fun learning how to implement different soap designs. This was a really easy and fun one to try! Btw, a couple months ago I also tried your Charcoal Swirl Soap technique and had so much fun doing that one. Even though it took MUCH longer to complete compared to the feather swirl, the beautiful design of the finished soap was so worth it! I love watching all your amazing videos, and how precise you are. The color combos you put together for all the different soaps you've made are absolutely gorgeous!🤩I've learned several EASIER ways of doing things from watching your soaping process, and have begun using many of your preparation techniques. You've taught me SO MUCH, and for that, I'm very THANKFUL to you🙏💛Blessings to you and your Family!
Hollllllyyyyyyyyyy thank you so much for teaching me this method. I did this yesterday after watching this video for months. I followed every step and nailed it. You are a great teacher and mentor. Hats off to you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
😍🥰 wow.... Very elegant.. prettiest pink soap I've ever seen... Is definitely very very motivating to try this technique... Very lovely colour and texture...
Really just beautiful. The feather is so clear and precise - definitely going to be in my next collection! Can't wait to make it. Thank You for posting and sharing with us.
Another beautiful Soap Holly! Did you know that you can double click on your oils in soap calc to automatically add them to the list on the right? If you didn’t, you do now.
Beautiful, as always! I really love the pink color from the oil infusion. I really need to try a feather swirl. It’s one (among many😖) I’ve never tried. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us Holly!❤️
Hi Holly, I made my fist feather swirl and it turned out nice, but It didn't come out as nice as I hoped, I put to much pink in the bottom and it didn't make enough room for the light pink, but, im going to give it another try , everyone loves it though, they think its so pretty, so thank you again for showing us your beautiful pink feather swirl 🥰💞❣
Oh this is so beautiful Holly! This is my favorite besides the ghost swirl, I think that's what you call it lol, but, I really love the Indigo, I like the pink better than the blue, but they are both pretty 😍. Thanks and I hope you're doing well 😊💞. Oh, the embroidery soap is beautiful too!
I love the way it turns pink. I’m in process of seeing if my indigo powder will do the same. Holly I really want to thank you for sharing such beautiful soaping videos and your generosity in sharing recipes. What a beautiful soap you made and soaps you make.
Thank you & you're very welcome! I hope your indigo works for you. I've done this with BrambleBerry's as well, but it's been several years. I know suppliers change over the years which can change the results. 😊
Thank you for your videos! I had never made a feather swirl soap until I watchef you videos, you inspired me and I did it! It turned out pretty good! Its a lot of work (as I had to spoon the soap in) but was worth it.
Another lovely video, thank you! I'm curious to know what would happen if you tried reusing the indigo at the bottom of the jar until it no longer "gives" color?🤔
Thank you! That’s a great idea. I still have the jar and will see what happens. Since I only used a little heat for the infusion, it’s possible I could get another batch of infused oil.
Haha yes, I’ll definitely film it. 😁 My guess is it will get weaker and weaker. Just not sure how quickly that happens. As expensive as the powder can be, it would be nice to know if it was reusable a time or two.
I'm s bit confused, I've use indigo powder in an oil infusion, directly in the soap and even steaped it as a tea. I have never gotten the color pink. I love it.
I made a recent video explaining how I discovered this. Weak infusion, don’t shake it, and let it sit until the powder settles. Some brands are always blue, but some give me a pink color. It’s one of those happy accidents when experimenting with natural colorants. 😊
soo pretty ! i have indigo powder infused but it's much darker..Why do you use lye concentration and not water precentage in soapcalc? or 35 % lye concentration equals how much water ? it's the first time i see this and don't know about it :D
What is the temperature of the oils & Lye water when you combine them? I've had trouble knowing the correct temp for the best results? I have cracking issues many times. I'd like to fix that.
Hi Holly! I love this soap & tried to duplicate it myself. The oils were such a beautiful almost ruby color- until I added my lye. The batter turned a light to medium grey color. So disappointing! Well I added a tiny bit of pink mica & corrected the color. Not sure where I went wrong. Too much indigo - or not enough? Your feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks Holly!! Cathy (Gold River, CA)
Hi Holly, I made an Indigo and olive oil infusion and it turned out nice, I can see the pink Hugh 💗, now, my question is, when I use what I need, do I strain the powder that's left at the bottom or can I use it in my soap? Thank you 😊 💓.
Wonderful! I’m so happy to hear that! I usually get all of the oil out and then toss the powder. I’m actually about to try infusing the same powder twice. Since it’s such a weak infusion, another soapmaker suggested trying that. So you could add some more oil and see if you could get more blue or pink oil. Thanks for letting me know it worked for you! 💕😊
How lovely!! Holly, I have only used indigo tinctoria and it didn't have any pink tones to it. Is your indigo from Nurture Soap Baphicacanthus Cusia (Nees) Bremek Powder? If so, I would like to purchase some from Nurture, but if not, I don't want to buy any more as I have an already large supply and it's pretty expensive! Thank you in advance.
Oh yes you showed us that the jar is from Nurture ,but is the Baphicacanthus Cusia (Nees) Bremek variety that Nurture sells now? I'm a bit confused because none of their descriptions or reviews mention a pink shade, only gray blue. Right now I have indigo tinctoria and it doesn't turn pink. I am so excited to try to make a pink like you have and I would prefer not to have more indigo that won't give me a pink shade. You have really inspired me, Holly. Thank you again! :)
