I like the T1 for very particular circumstances. But I find the locking mechanism annoying as well (it would have been nice to have a tensioner, to customize the strength). Sometimes the soft lock is useful, most times it isn’t.
They've designed it like a calliper instead of a measuring stick. It depends on the use case but a laser measuring device is designed for the calliper style measuring. Plus all they needed to do was put a finger brake pad on the bottom to have a good locking mechanism.
Are you saying you think they intended for this flaw to exist? If you watch their promo videos it seems they did intend this to be operable with one hand, which it’s really not.

And its only 25 ft almost every tape I have is 35 ft
Hum, I always thought of the standard length tape measure as being 25’.
I feel you. But just use your fucking finger to hold it underneath
My $5 tape measure can be used one handed. This $200 one can’t because of a silly design flaw.
