I have been searching for a tutorial on rectangular crochet for bottom of baskets, bags, etc..and I have to say this is the absolute BEST video I've watched. EXTREMELY detailed, LOVE IT. Thank you so much for creating this very detailed video. Now I'm off to making rectangular baskets for my bathroom, and beach bag for my daughter, and granddaughter. 🥰🥰
you do a FANTASTIC job at explaining things in a way that makes it easy to understand. I appreciate you taking the time to drop the hook and use the needle to point out how to find the stitches. I've been crocheting for a while but you made it simpler especially when there's a end or beginning of a row. Additionally, I've never learned this stitch before where you crochet into the V. It was also helpful when you explained how to raise the hook so the loops match in length. This is somethig many people in other videos just state to "watch your tension" or "it'll get better the more you do it" vs. you actually showed us how to keep tension even. Thanks for this tutorial!
The stitch is called the waistcoat stitch. It’s pretty dense and it’s often used for fair isle crochet and other graph patterns. It’s great when you want to prevent stretching or holes
Ausome tutorial and an awesome teacher, and I agree with all the comments before me. You are the only one who really wants to make videos to teach not to get likes and subscribers. Thank you a lot
I have been doing this base follow other RUclipsr but they aren’t guiding well and I gave up trying until I found ur video! Thanks and looking for more.
Long time crocheter here. Just had to say thank you for this great tutorial on how to make a rectangle - which is exactly what I'd been looking for to make a bathroom rug. I have previously made several baskets after watching your tutorials for square baskets - and they also came out perfectly. You are one of the best crochet teachers I've ever come across and I highly recommend watching you - for any level of crocheter. It's never too late to learn new and - better - techniques!! Cheers!
I love your tutorial because it is easy to follow. As a beginner I learned a lot and I look forward to seeing more videos on bags please like those of the puff stitch bags.
Thank you Julia for your perfectly done videos! Can you also show us how to connect to make the walls of basket? Or is it the same as the ring basket? Thank you
You explain things so well and show each important step clearly… instead of assuming we know where to put the hook or how the stitch should look. Been crocheting a while but I’ve learned a lot watching you!
This is one of the best tutorials for the rectangular base I have followed. You made it very clear especially the invisible join. The only thing I couldn't work out was when you closed the hole with the end of the yarn. As I followed you, you carried the end yarn with the first row so when I came to close the hole the yarn wasn't in the correct place to do it. So I had to re do it without carrying the yarn. I hope this makes sense to you. Thanks again I will definitely be recommending your chanel.
Thank you for your comment ❤ As you can see I've almost made the same mistake of leaving too short end of the yarn and therefore it was not very easy to close the hole with it. That's why I wrote at the beginning of the video at 1:35 a tip for all of you to leave a longer end of yarn than mine, so that you don't have the same problem as me.
Thnx very much Julia👍. I bought similar pattern on etsy but got stucked joining the yarn to the 2nd row. With your tutorial, I finally managed to do this kind of rectangle. From the bottom of my heart, kudos Julia!
Hi Julia! Thank you for sharing your knowlegde and your expertise! I am crocheting a rectangle starting with the oval, but mine is lopsided. I, too, am joining, but don't like seam it makes. Your technique seems to make that seam disappear! Can you please explain why you crochet your sc into middle of the stitch? Is that part of the technique to hide the seam? Does this technique work when changing colors? My project has 1 line stripes throughout. Thank you for your assistance...hope to hear from you soon!
Your instructions are very easy to follow, clear and comfortable voice..while others tutorials make me confuse, yours are make it far easier for me, thank you, love your tutorials... I already subscribe your channel and click the bell too 😉👍
This is really helpful - thank you! I've been getting so frustrated with the holes that appear no matter how consistently I try to crochet. You also made the invisible stitch to join much easier to follow along with than other videos I've seen. Thanks!
Did you see how my rectangle looks like in the end before the wet heat treatment? Does your rectangle look even worse? If it's the same as mine then you just need to do the wet-heat treatment 😊
Best tutorial of a rectangle. Thank you so much! Also am I able to use this pattern on any stitch? This stitch for me was creating holes on the ends and I did it too tight it was hard to get 3 stitches in 😩
There is a video how to make the walls in a rectangular basket? I watched the square basket but there is a difference in the corners to build the walls.
Thank ever so much for this amazing tutorial:) I have been trying to figure out this pattern to make a basket...you are awesome...thank you. Liked and subscribed to your channel and clicked the bell too... xx
Hello Julia, I've just started watching your video to make a crochet rectangle. At the beginning you say if more chain stitches, then the rectangle will be longer but narrower and vice versa if less stitches. I am trying to make a laundry basket 50cm long by 30cm wide. Can I use your pattern amended? Can you help?
n chain. n-1 sc, on the nth chain, put 5sc (mark 2 and 4) move onto the other side: n-1 sc, on the nth chain, put *4* sc (the 5th one you already put in!!!!) 15:02 how to join After that first round, you do the same but addingg 3sc at the ends not 5. You mark the 2nd stitch. 48:56 how to join when you finish the last row (aka how to end/close
Hi thank you for the tutorial!! ^^ But may i ask you? In the last chain of first foundation chain you make 5 sc, is it just for tshirt yarn or any yarn? Because i've seen another tutorial they just make 3 sc. Thank you in advance ^^
How do I keep from getting big holes at the end of my rows? I think I am messing up the first sc or the last 5. I end up with a big circle in the middle.

You can use this video: ruclips.net/video/erBMJ3D_1Es/видео.html
What brand is your hook and yarn Julia? They seem easier to work with 😁
I don't remember the hook brand but about the yarn I use you can read on my channel in the Community section or in the description to my latest videos
The hook looks like a Tulip Etimo.
Hi... I just started a project using this pattern and I have a question. How do attach/connect if I want switching of colors?
n chain.
n-1 sc, on the nth chain, put 5sc (mark 2 and 4)
move onto the other side:
n-1 sc, on the nth chain, put *4* sc (the 5th one you already put in!!!!)
15:02 how to join
After that first round, you do the same but addingg 3sc at the ends not 5. You mark the 2nd stitch.
48:56 how to join when you finish the last row (aka how to end/close
What does this make a basket ?
Hi thank you for the tutorial!! ^^ But may i ask you? In the last chain of first foundation chain you make 5 sc, is it just for tshirt yarn or any yarn? Because i've seen another tutorial they just make 3 sc. Thank you in advance ^^
It's just two different ways of crocheting a rectangle :) You can try both and see which one you like more
What size is this rectangle?? Great tutorial :)
Around 24 cm length and 11.5 cm width
How can you add sides would you do it the same as the square one
Yes🙂
@@CrochetwithJulia thank you
@@CrochetwithJulia can post a video on how to start sides it seems you connect rows different then the square size I would appreciate it Julia
can i use this to secure the bottom of bags? i wanted to make a crochet cross bag but i cant find a thing that could support the bottom😔

How do I keep from getting big holes at the end of my rows? I think I am messing up the first sc or the last 5. I end up with a big circle in the middle.

Hello how much t-shirt yarn did you use on this projects
Tholiwe from SOUTH AFRICA,KZN.
How many inches was this?
9.45
I don't understand how I see the bumps in your chain, but not inine. 🤔
Do you have to use Tshirt yarn?
You can use any yarn or cord but the size of the rectangle of course will be different
