Hey cat lovers! Some highly-rated cat foods are linked in the description. 😺 But as always, check with your vet first! ❤️
Our vet recommended IAMS for our kitties :) so that's what we have them on even though the smell of that stuff makes me nearly vomit everytime x.x
@@RedRoseSeptember22 Hi! I dont think IAMS is any good. I have a cluster of kitties too and feed Wellness, Tiki & Weruva & I always add more water to their wet food. I am not offering dry as much, only at night. Dry food is bad for cats. My cats were drinking like crazy yesterday morning. Dont like that. When eating wet food, they dont drink so much.
Good Luck! I wish I knew what to feed my cats sooner. Its never too late
I hope you let people tuna is now one of the worst things to give a cat cause of the Mercury in it
What can I feed to outdoor male cat
@@RedRoseSeptember22 Hi there! Cat food should not be stinky! If you think about it, most cat food is so stinky because the ingredients are often not REAL meat, but fillers and animal derivatives. Cat food should look and smell like real fresh meat, (e.g. real chicken is white/beige not dark brown chuncks) not brown chuncks of wet food or brown pellets of dry food. I hope this is helpful! 😺
Thanks for this information. I have multiple cats (4 feral/homeless) & 2 outdoor ferals. I'm a senior on a fixed income, yet I manage to feed them well. I also share my fish, chicken, or other protein. No spices, just baked.
God bless you 🙂🥰🙏🙏💕
Thank you for sharing your food with them!! 😻
@@CarolaTesla no thanks needed, but glad it's appreciated. I just do this out of pure love.
@@jamiehuff6164 🙏 many thanks ❣️!!!
For meat: no salt or MSG!
My cats love these new smaller-portion "gravy" pouches of tuna or chicken and not so much waste for lite eaters. My vet always said to at least give a can of wet food every few days for the moisture so she was right on!
She also recommended using those drops for fleas & worms you put on their neck(Revolution)? Had a pet friendly neighbor say this was "poison" but it really works good and had two cats on it live to be pretty old!
There's no evidence that flea medications are harmful. That's why vets recommend them. I also love Revolution. It's what we use on our cat too! ❤
I buy multi packs of wet cat food portion size and mix it with dry cat food and my cat loves it 🥰❤️💕
Feeding my cat the dry food that my veterinarian prescribed made her throw up every time she ate. And she was not throwing up hairballs. She was throwing up food. So I looked for different dry foods that were easily digested, plus feeding her wet food. She is thriving on the combination. You have to really know your cat and what is best for them.
I have a geriatric cat who doesn't overeat. I free feed him dry food daily, plus he gets one small can of wet in the morning, one can of wet for dinner. He has bad teeth, kidney issues, hiatal hernia, blocked "back door" glands... He's still happy though! I take him to the vet monthly, they keep an eye on his hydration and weight. He's around 17 years old and has been steadily losing weight even though he keeps eating and things are coming out both exits as well as can be expected for his age. I always give him treats at least twice a day, and I try to make sure his treats are good quality, hydrating, nourishing, and of course tasty for him!
Thank you for making this video! I agree each cat is different, and it's a matter of try and try again until you find the best diet for your specific cat. Just like people, we all have our favorite foods, just be careful with the portions of any favorite foods for any species 😁🐾🐾👍😸😉
dry food is what's causing the problem. Get him off dry and you'll see his health improve. Do research, don't trust your vet. They have very little training in nutrition. They're always gonna push their products on you.
I feed my cat 3 times a day. Breakfast is at 8:30am ish, Dinner at 5:00pm and Supper at 9:00pm. His cat food is simple and honest. The ingredients are: 70% chicken, 29% chicken broth and 1% vitamins and minerals. It offers three different meats: Chicken, duck and beef. I can see REAL shredded meat in the tins too. It also offers a chicken recipe with some pumpkin chunks added. He also has duck and chicken freeze-dried raw toppers on his meals. These are the bought foods that he eats. I boil him fresh chicken or turkey a few times a week as a healthy treat as well. A meal for him would look like: wet food topped with water for extra hydration and freeze-dried raw toppers. I rotate different meats for different days so that he doesn't get bored of them. He eats his meals in a raised, whisker fatigue free, porcelain bowl. It's called Necoichi. I wash this bowl after each meal so that it's ready and clean for the next meal. The water in his water bowls get changed 3 times a day too. I changed him to this new food 2 months ago, and it really has changed his life! His fur is glossy, his eyes are shiny and he plays 4-5 times a day each session lasting 10 minutes! When I remind myself that he's 11 years old, it's really hard to believe! 💙 He is overall much happier and energetic since switching him to this food. 😺
what brand of wet food do you use?
@@sarigpoyyara8580 Hello! I live in the UK, so the cat food brands I use might not be available if you don't live in the UK. I use two wet cat food brands: Untamed and Canagan. I hope this is helpful! 🙂

Salutations 🐾
I mix wet (about 2 to 3 oz) and dry (1/4 - 1/3 cup) food plus 2 to 3 tablespoons of water for a stray cat that I'm feeding. I worry since it is getting so darn hot. I only get to feed her once a day around 12pm right before work.
A few months ago my dad told me that there was a cat in our backyard that waited for him to toss out food scraps. After he told me I ended up looking online what cats should be eating and I had to stop my dad from giving the cat scraps of chicken and fish because they had spices on them >o< I do cash budgeting so I don't have much to spend on my new furry friend but I always try to make sure that she is fed and hydrated.
Mine only get high quality dry food. Loki has food allergies so I have to be really carefull what I give him and the only hypoallergenic wet food available here, he just doen't want (he's a very picky eater) So both just get dry food. I do use food puzzles to feed them to keep them from overeating and they also have a drinking fountain to keep hydrated, that they often use.
They were a little overweight at their last vet check up a few months ago but seeing as they're about to turn 9, they're in really good health and shape.
Thank you.
I've got a senior cat who's over weight and I'm trying everything to slim him down.
I've got him on a modest amount of senior diet dry cat food but it's slow going.
He hasn't seemed to loose weight in the last year.
Have him eat some good quality wet food and ge will slim down. My 2 cats were alittle chunky and now they slimmed down just from.eating good quality wet food, plys their coats are very silky! Prior, Chewie, my kitty had almost sticky fur and dandruff, now his fur is very silky and no dandruff!
@@debbieshomes6984 Thank you!
I will try this asap..
Thank for the tip. 😎💚
I agree with Debbie that you should consider wet food! Best wishes. 😺
My littermate Siamese rescue kittens. For my work I had to load up the dry feeder for a week. The firepoint male started eating his emotions. Even a neighbor looking in on them stopped cutting it.
I got tired of cleaning up rails of unchewed dry food. Teeth are fine.
Mine only get wet food 2x day and greenie treats to help "brush" their teeth.
The polydactyl female will snub her nose at certain flavors. 24 hrs. My beautiful Blanket finally ate normal today. I hate caving into her preference 1st day. Grocery stores 2022 not consistent stock.
On wet food, I think 🤔 it’s worth it to get the Sheba or IAMS “ PERFECT PORTION” this is just one serving each time, ( no can to mess with !) I give one in the morning & one at night & this size they are well liked & it does not go bad usually because of one portion that is eaten & my Tobee cat 🐈 loves this Pate ! Of courses all flavor are good, but Tuna, Salmon, seafood! Is what Tobee likes best ! (( also do give around 1/2 cup of hard food at night)
Thumbs up!
Lots of knowledge power in these contents.
Keep it up :)
I so want to feed my cats wet food(with a little dry mixed in) but i have quite a few cats, so it is a small fortune!!!
It can be tough! But cats are so worth it. 🐈🐈🐈❤❤❤
I always add a little “water gravy” to my cats dry dinner. Also supplement with bits of chicken. A lb of chicken, baked or boiled is so much cheaper than canned. Freeze in small portions.
My cats (10 of them) get dry food in the afternoon but not a large amount and they are given it in their own bowls. They get tinned food last thing at night. We also have a water fountain which they all drink from. We do have one cat who would eat his own and everyone elses so he gets fed separately from the rest. That's working and he's slowly been losing weight and is now closer to the weight he should be.
I think the combination of 2 times a day dry food and 1 wet food is the best but it also depends on the cat too
@@Lonelywolf1312. My overweight cat did slim down and learned not to eat the other cats' food. He's still a big cat and always will be (typical ginger Tom) but I still keep a close eye on his weight.
What I just do, I give both. 2/3 of daily intake is dry food. 1/3 is wet food from a can. I think it's a great compromise, it gives some moisture for the cat and they really like the wet food!
I always pour water in my cats wet & dry food In dry food because otherwise she eats to fast & now she has to fish it out of her plate ( She almost never drinks water if it is only water)
My cat never drinks water so I always add water to her foods as well!
My cat has stomach problems and vomits a lot. He didn't seem to like wet food, and I got tired of throwing away food he didn't eat. He now eats only dry food for sensitive stomachs. It's also less disgusting to clean up half-digested dry food. I used to use the mixed approach with my cats, but my most current cat is just not suited for that kind of feeding program. I give him 1/4 cup in the a.m. and 1/4 cup at night. He's a very big boy, and it seems to be an amount that suits him. He certainly hasn't put on weight on this regimen. He's 13 years old at present. He's also not starving, since he spends most of his time lying around and sleeping. He doesn't really work off a lot of the calories he eats.
Dry has dangers. Lost 2 males to kidney failure. Changed them to wet and raw chicken and no more deaths to bad diet . Cost does not come into it.NB a pensioner here feeding five rescues
The same thing happened to me I lost a male cat because of feeding him dried cat food it caused him to develop kidney stones the vet told me it was the dried cat food I had to have him put to sleep I was heartbroken I haven’t used dried cat food since!
I mix wet and dry food together for my cat. I'm hairball control and weight loss cat food and Friskies canned cat food I put them together and that's what the cat gets everyday
A great video. I'm getting a Cat when i move into my own house so Ive been watching these
I tried giving my now 7 months old kitten cooked boneless chicken and even wet food from the can but he doesn't eat all his food in one setting. He eats a bit, leaves and then after a while returns to eat some more. After a while he refuses to eat the rest of the wet food. The problem with wet food is that it starts to spoil after a while (1-2 hours) and that bacteria start to develop. I don't see another option than giving him kibbles.
I give 'em half can for morning and night and a lunch of dry food. They may get treats as well at some point of the day. They are happy and healthy. Recently had a yearly check-up. Things are good. They are loved and show their love. I am home almost always (no work or friends, etc). So they have plenty of time they can spend with me. They do get outdoors if the weather is not bad. We are in the country-side where it's all forest and a lack of streets/civilization. Although the people out here are still like city people with the tech and all that stuff. Computers/internet, cars, modern day appliances and tools, etc. But our cats do well here and are loved. Especially by me, the biggest cat lover in this house/family. To me they are family/friends, not pets.
It seems like when I feed my kitty wet food she gets worms
I have self feeder, for the dry food. Then I add a heaping tablespoon full of wet on top of it for each cat 3 times a week.
thanks for this my cat is so fussy have tried everything but not the wet dry combination which i will give it a go and see what happens.
My cats only get raw meat - beef, little chicken, heart, liver, egg yolk, salt, coconut oil and crushed cuttlefish. 2 meals a day 100g each
My cat loves her dry food, a mixture of them, whiskas ang go cat indoor one, some treats, teeth ones. But she loves her Felix soup once a day. Doesn't really like cat food. Drinks water a lot.
My cat had uti few years ago so I have to buy special food ! It costs me $50 per month for special dried food and it would cost me $75 for the wet (canned) version
Cheers from Montreal🇨🇦
What is the kind of dry you feed your cat if may ask.
My cat uses the combination diet, and does just fine. And there is plenty of water for him all the time. His kitty potty shows equal offerings of the wet and dry food results, and he doesnt hesitate to thank me with his loud, deep, purrrrrrrring. But, i have a couple questions, #1, why doesnt he like catnip, which is fine with me!, and #2, he has never hissed at anybody or other animals, and that leaves me puzzled. He is about 8.5 years (human), (102 cat) and i wonder if he was even taught to hiss by his parents? But both his parents and sister threw hissy-fits at people.
To answer your questions...
1. Contrary to popualr belief, not every cat loves catnip, lol. Just like humans, they all have different likes and dislikes. So some are just not interested.
2. The fact that your cat doesn't hiss suggests that he just doesn't have anything to hiss about. He sounds like a happy boy. 😺
@@ThePurringJournal thanks for answering! I have heard that catnip does to cats like marijuana does people, so, i guess that my "Black Friday" wants to be a "sober" cat! As for the "non-hissing" he is the only cat that either me or my late wife had that didnt hiss, even at us! Not even when i did the "TNR" when he was only a kitten, as he came from a feral cat family. When it was time to release him and his sister back to the "wild", his sister took off to wherever, but he didnt, even after coaxing him to go. So, i picked him up, and he immediately started purring, loudly for a kitten. And the rest is more or less history, he has been my buddy ever since, even more so since my wife passed away in April of 2020. I recently posted a video on RUclips of one of his favorite ways to give me more gray hair than i already have, and i just dont understand how he can traipse through things without knocking them on the floor.
You have some of the lower quality dry foods listed as your choices / links. Best dry cat foods available that are fairly easily accessible would be - Dr Elseys, Tiki born carnivore, Acana and Orijen. All 4 offer different flavors and varieties. There are also 5 or 6 others easily more healthy / beneficial than the ones you listed.
2 of the cats in this house don't eat a portion of the meal, wait a bit and eat more. They eat all of it in one sitting. Their uncle (my niece's cat) is fed by her and I'm not entirely sure how much she feeds him. Usually just fry food. But he does constantly drink water from water dish and I know he does take his time eating his food, a little at a time.
My clan of outside/shop cats eat ALOT! Since there's up to 10 eating n 7 full-time finding a cheap solution was tricky. I can say the special kitty outdoor food gave pretty much all of them diarrhea but special kitty original is working good now. They also drink alot of water, about a pitcher per day
genuine video maker love that u r3ally love cats good information thank u so much for making great content
I use both I give them dry food before I leave work then a can of wet food when I get home for dinner
I free feed my cats dry food in one of those Catit feeders so they have to put their paw in to pull out one kibble. In the morning and at night they get wet cat food. We give them castor and pollox cat food gravy packets. Each cat gets half morning and night. Dry food is Acana. We spend a pretty good amount of money feeding our cats. I believe wet food is healthier but I have one cat that will keep us awake unless he’s fed more which is why I started feeding the dry food too. Their weight is fine. I was actually surprised the vet said the cat that demands more food could handle another pound of weight.
wet food is lower in Carbohydrates and this is essential for an obligate carnivore
The best food for your cat is the one your cat prefers to eat.
Put them side by side and play `which one tastes better to you?`
Both you and your cat will appreciate this game quite quickly.
Result: a happier cat and less food waste.
I used to give my kitty some dry food, and some actual fish. It solved the moisture problem very well..... I live in a coastal place so for 2 dollars you can get enough fish to feed a cat for 10 days on a only fish diet
I occasionally buy cans of sardines and my cats LOVE the sardine water
We have chicken, turkey, fish flavored cat food. Why not mouse/rat flavored. They could use the NYC rats make them into food- problem solved...am I wrong?
One of my girls is a big girl and my vet recommended that I cut back on her food and he let me know she has a tartar issue. So I cut out on the wet food. She was only licking off the broth and they did not regularly eat the entire can. Since then I don't think she has lost any weight, but I think the tartar issue has improved.
Almost EVERY cat I've ever seen or known would prefer running water to just a bowl. Those water fountains at the pet stores are crazy expensive!!!! So.....just go to the other side of the store, get a fish pump!!!! They can be purchased for cheap, 15-25 dollars, and then you can make your own fountain at home very easily!! Trust me, if you're a cat owner, you can do this!!! We have to been on our toes as cat people and we are typically an intelligent group!!! A friend of mine did this for her dog and it works beautifully!!!! She already had the pump from an old tank set up, she didn't have to spend a penny!!!
Yes, cat fountains are awesome! Our Maggie absolutely loves her fountain! ⛲ I don't doubt that they're expensive at pet stores. But they're definitely NOT expensive if you buy them online. The one we have goes for $20-$25 on Amazon and works great. The filters are inexpensive too. 😺
My cat Tiger-J gets both wet and dry cat food. He gets Purina cat food.
My veterinarian recommended feeding both. So that’s what we do here.
Cats are obligate carnivores. They shouldn't eat any carbs.
My cat won't eat unless we mix the dry and wet food together 😅
Cats can be amazingly picky can’t they?! Sometimes my cat decides she’s had enough of the wet food She’s been loving and I have to switch it up
What about raw food?
My cat sometimes farts and it smells awfull but I never hear him do it, any ideas
What if MY Cat doesnt like expensive food.?
My Cat is a Dry fanactic. When he was in the Shelter., they give the Kitties dry. Only. Im having a problem transitioning my Cat. I need help.
I give my feline 17 y/o option of dry all day and at 6 pm I give her wet food. She also gets treats.
Guys hellpp! is it okay if i feed my 3 year old cat wet cat food pouches every 2 times a day? and only wet food? and no dry food
Thank you for this information. I have three cats. You give them dry food and drink a lot of water. It is true that there is some weight gain, and I also buy wet food sometimes, but I also try to diversify the food for them. I give them fish, meat or Cooked chicken, of course, but they don't like it. I don't know why, although many cats eat this. Can you answer my question, please and thank you? Greetings from Morocco
thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thankfully my cats devour water even if I feed them wet food. So giving them dry plus water isnt an issue. Just can't be affording to feed 2 cats with good quality wet 24/7.
Never ever give you cat dry food. They need high moisture. Dry food causes death.
MEOW 😃
😺😺😺
Both,, my cat eats both and his coat is shinny..!
if I wet the dry cat food and give to them? I use an silicone small pot it's new and fresh what do you think? and just the amount they eat every time
Sounds like this would just be a "worst of both worlds" option.
Can you just wet the kibble?
I haven't tried it, she doesn't like wet food, mix is a good idea !
Unfortunately, cats don't do well with carbs. They may seem to have energy after they eat. But in the long run, they're going to get diabetes or kidney issues with dry food.
My kitten doesn't like water. As her mom.
I like dry catfood
Why can’t you buy dry food and add water to get the best of both worlds?
what happen if i feed my cat dry food only???
Millions of cats thrive on dry food. The balance of the protein and especially minerals will affect your cats health
@tensei1710 hard to argue with that simple logic!
My cat has significantly more energy with dry food
Most dry cat foods have carbs, but eventually it will affect your cat With kidney issues or diabetes, You might want to just stick to wet foods, but make sure it doesn't have any wheat or corn by-products Or look for cans that's say no grains .
In general I think wet food it healthier however dry food has it's place and for my unique situation I believe dry food actually helped my kitten I was feeding her a wet only diet and was having issues with her being slightly underweight adding a little dry food in to complement her wet diet helped her thicken up to a healthy weight
Wet food is always better
Steak. Turkey. No dry guts.
I love ❤️ my obese cat 🐈 😻 Gato
Heya! I know this is an older video, but your claim that kibble cleans a cat's teeth is an outdated myth. It sadly doesn't do that at all.
So, yes, kibble is easier and cheaper, but definitely doesn't do much for dental hygiene.
What you are saying is very true!
My cat like fish gills
Cat with a hairball? Wet food works great to loosen it up. As far as wet dry debate. Dry food every day with wet food every few days. Dry food if your cat has good teeth.
I try to give my cat more wet then dry but she will eat more dry then wet
The background music sucks, it made me think there was a mosquito flying around when it was the background music. So annoyying
Wer or dry cat food. For me, non. I believe that cats should be eating normal food like people(the ones that are healthy for them). They don’t need man-made food to be healthy.
SIX assorted floofballs! Is that called a case or half a case? I'm far too busy looking at all the floofy pastel colours to bother typing three words into a popular search engine... called Bong, I believe. Doesn't matter really. The things that DO matter are the 6 floofy fellows who are so delightful and delicious 😋, gently jostling as they dine... without any serious conflagration occurring, which is quite a surprise. I must be used to Siamese pussycats or something... but I could have my head turned by these shorthaired people who are floofy people and they will always be floofballs in my heart ❤️... forever ♾️ slave for the pussycats 🐈🐈🐈❤️❤️❤️😼🥰🥴👍❗🤪 Prrrs prrrs prrrs prrrs prrrs 🥰❗
I just add water to my cats dry food.
Its way bad I'm looking for vegañ çat food it's so the way and well made meals and ño sense less slaughter thankyou for vegan
How can this video claim that dry cat food helps a cat's teeth? This is 100% false and a myth dry cat food is high in carbs which is a sugar that turns to plaque which turns to tarter! Meat does not do this.
Sorry but wet food is cheap as hell at most being 1$ for a big can vr 6$ min. For dry food might wanna fact check
If you buy horrible quality food then sure
My experience is the opposite, try food is way cheaper.
Why do cats and dogs eat dry food anyways? They need water foods like people!
Wet food is the best. Dry food has no nutritional value is verybad for your cat.
It lacks moisture. To say dry food has no nutritional value is a false statement.
Dry food is the best
