    Shhhhh, no one must know this dagger kicks ass! I think the reason most people don´t use it is that it´s a very unique weapon (it´s not straightforward to play) that requires a weird stat investment for a perceived low payoff. It´s great to see this weapon get some love (Im also so sorry Bloodborne did not get the pvp it deserved). Great video man!

      I find it so weird that int and dex don't often go together. It really makes sense that the two should compliment eachother given that dex lowers cast speed. Friede's great scythe and Aquamarine fix that. But It's not quite enough. Especially since, in order for you to be able to use sorcery extensively, you have to dump a lot of points into attunement.

    • @iota-09
      @iota-09 6 лет назад +1

      dex-int it's weird? wut?
      i mean, i didn't get many mage classes, but the ones i did so far all used a good chunkk if not mainly dex, and still worked perfectly...
      then again, i used rapiers,scythes and knives mostly with them.

    It's all about how you carry yourself, how aggressively and actively you play. Movesets are important, but as far as melee weapons go, all it boils down to is getting a feel of the range, making smart guesses about your opponent's next move, whether or not you need poise or long roll, and stamina management. Like those flaky asshats who spam R1 with the Pontiff Knight Curved Sword and points down like there's a trophy for flailing like a magikarp.

  • @BigPanda096

    One thing I respect immensely about JM, is that post script message he usually leaves. Tell someone you love them, you never know when the last time that may be.
    I told my fiance I loved her for the last time on a regular day, on my way to work. Said "love you gorgeous, see you later" and she replied "love you too baby, see you later! I'm making tacos tonight so don't be late!" And my final words ever spoken to her were "that sounds great, I won't be. Love you!" And walked out the door. She had some sort of complication from covid, that neither of us knew she had. Worst part is we were 1 week out from our vaccine appointment first dose. I found out something happened from my neighbors daughter, she called me saying she seen her fall over in the window, and ran and knocked on the door when she didn't get back up. She had scaring in her heart and it caused it to get clogged and just, stop.
    I'll always keep in my heart the ladt words we ever said to eachother, and words can't express the relief I had in the chaos and turmoil of this situation, that at least the last things we said to eachother were full of love and happiness, and that we both knew we loved eachother. I can't imagine how I would be doing if we had a fight that morning, and we said mean things to eachother.
    Like JM says, life is short and ends suddenly, forever. Tell the people you care about that you care about them, you never know when you'll never get to ever again. Don't rely on the hopes of an afterlife, because chances are it more than most likely doesn't exist.
    Make things count in this life.

      The Dex/Int build that the Aquamarine requires isn't TOO limiting. You can use Friede's Scythe, the Greatsword of Judgement, and even the Immolation Tinder if you allocate your remaining points correctly.

      or a dark/crystal rapier, which can also parry when in the left hand, in fact, it would probably be a decent left weapon choice to pair with the dagger(although ability shields and just simply two handing would most likely give better results)

      Dinzo Mirrivan is triple split leveling(dex/int/fth) that weird? My main character is 163(for minimum lv140pvp) at 30/35/30/35 and it works pretty well...(and yeah, if i was at a lower more meta level i'd probably sacrifice no more than 11 levels with these stats, with fth untouched)

    I use this weapon regularly, and I LOVE pairing it with sorceries. It seems like a silly thing to do, but spamming someone with projectiles or using homing soul mass allows you to control the pace of fights really easily, and sets up lots of opportunity for rollcatching, which the dagger does really easily. Also a decent pair with the greatsword spell, since you'll have INT anyways and the slow windup can catch people very off-guard

    • @Ezekiel_Allium
      @Ezekiel_Allium 2 года назад +1

      absolutely insane Elden Ring's weapon roster is so much less creative than DS3. Even ignoring the dlc, basegame DS3 had the farron greatsword and four catalyst weapons. Including DLC it's not even a contest. Even the overused magic shooting katana was more interesting both visually and move set wise.
      My opinions on the changes to poise aside, I think this was the biggest disappointment to elden ring for me, I was going through the whole game waiting for them to bust out a truly unique weapon, but in the end the most exciting thing an elden ring weapon can do is shoot one of several varieties of death laser.

    When I first heard Dark Souls 3 was coming out I was hoping that the weapon arts were going to be something of a play off of Bloodborne's trick weapon system or at least similar to the first Witcher's combat stances, but better. When I first played and used the straight-sword Weapon Art I was like "cool, but isn't this heavily situational and doesn't the telegraph give it away?" And then a million shitty weapon arts later I decided From really screwed the pooch on what could have been a better utility for switching it up more.

    I certainly agree with the dagger being underrated. My favourite thing with the dagger, is due to it's speed, it's a poise eater. When ever a player with a big slow weapon tries to poise through my attacks, I bait them to swing at me, then I was always able to get in enough hits to kill their poise before they get a second swing. And before they realise what hit them, a lot of damage has already been done. I've also done a new game + play through with it. It's a lot of fun. I haven't got to Midir yet, and I expect that to be the toughest boss with the Aquamarine Dagger.

    You know what's something I really miss from Bloodborne? The transformation attacks. I really hope if a Dark Souls 4 ever happens, that they actually give weapons special attacks to transition from 1h to 2h modes, it'd make things more interesting with combat flow

      Dark souls is over as long as Hidetaka Miyazaki has any say in the matter. It's been long confirmed that DS3 is the last dark souls game. (At least for a long time)

    I think the aquamarine dagger is one of the most aggressive weapons in the game. It fits my playstyle perfectly

    • @raistlyn117_8
      @raistlyn117_8 5 лет назад

      People don’t expect you to be THAT aggressive with a dagger, they expect you to be passive and fish for backstabs.

    Yep, knew from day 1 this thing is really good. It's a dagger with a dagger's weaknesses covered. Your playstyle doesn't have to be simplistic, you have good mix ups and you have a better way to chase people. It's a good time

    I use it as a secondary weapon for my white walker frost build(roughly). I use crystal dragon breath, snap freeze, and two other various dark spells. Friedes scythes x haysel pick SL150
    When I first saw the dagger I tossed it aside; until I got bored with my current build. You did what I thought to be the best strategy, chase them with the weapon art

    I like how the pyromancer accurately predicted 2 rolls in a row and still missed and the scattershot can be rolled through. Casters in DS3 folks. Love the channel and the gameplay though. Replaying the games in order almost entirely due to your content.

    I actually picked this little weapon up on my first playthrough of Dark Souls 3, my character happened to be a dex/int boi so it fit right in
    It's actually really fun to use, really nice for catching people off-guard. :D

    I remember using this weapon even before when it’s stamina consumption was crazy. It was a great fast weapon with tight mix ups that nobody expected. It didn’t do beefy enough damage, not like my babies the curved greatsword or even normal GS’s or UGS’s, but it was still a sexy sidearm piece for my magic build, which primarily used the moonlight, of course.
    Same way I used the witch’s locks on my pyro/dark build, as a fun mixup tool to trick or scare less knowledgeable folk. Like throwing out a projectile just to apply pressure.

    The Aquamarine dagger really is a great weapon on its own, though it’s also an amazing side weapon when paired with friede’s great scythe. The both of them go together like peanut butter and jelly. Not to mention the both of them have major style points when it comes to visual design. Both weapons are flashy in great ways and they both are an amazing pair together.

    I use the aquamarine dagger as a second weapon, being the moonlight my primary. On my mage build I wanted something more fast, and I use the dagger against shorter range weapons, also because it's more fun. When you learn how to use it it's great!

    It's a little bit late but i'd like to thank you for this video. I was in love with this weapon but i didn t use it because of it s poor damage... Hell i was wrong!
    After seeing this, i pratice the weapon and the result was really worth it. With this playing a mage was no longer a pain in close combat range!
    Now I can enjoy this cool weapon that i always wanted to play after testing it.
    Thanks for your hard work for breaking the usual meta.

    I love that thing. Use it as a secondary with a magic +10 Lothric Knight Straightsword.
    I use the +3 C Ring with +3 Steel Pro Ring, MGC Clutch Ring, And KGHT Ring to drain more stamina from the enemy when I hit them.

    I'm about to do a Darksouls 3 playthrough as a magic swordsman that will utilize this, the Eastern Iron shield (with great magic shield buff) and either the Heretic's staff or the Cristal staff for the longer range sword sorceries.

    This actually just me some confidence. I just started a melee sorcerer build and I maxed this weapon out more as a curiosity than a practical replacement for my Greatsword of judgement. Not a great weapon for fighting bosses, but as a PvP weapon it looks pretty promising. Might have to make a trip to the undead match arena and try it out.

    I love to have the AD as a 2nd option for the friedes greatscythe since alot of the bigger weapons can just poise through the weapon art and trade with you and the dagger can counter exactly those weapons.
