I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
I'm always impressed with your flawless casting ability.
Practice makes perfect!
Film edit helps too.
@@MattStefanFishing no perfect practice makes perfect.People can practice all they want doing it wrong that dont help nothing.LOL😂
This time of year is probably my favorite time to throw a small finesse swim jig... Definitely looking forward to picking up a few of these
Get them while you can.
Hey Matt, My experience with river jig fishing is that, while effective, Mr. Pike always ends up with a few of my jigs. On the positive side, that leads to more knot tying practice! It is a great technique with a lot of smallies coming to the boat. So fun.
Pike eat everything
You can use a foot of 40lb FC as leader and you will keep your jiggs. You still might have to re tie it as pikes will still make some dmg. :)
Thanx Matt. Favorite way to catch bass is swim jigs. Mostly largemouth for me. I like the versatility of using it like a jig or swimming it. I rarely do well with white or baitfish color swimjigs.
Right on!
Excellent video Matt ! I always learn something from your channel such as the knot you used . I will have to try it on my next trip . Tight lines !
Great to hear!
Excellent video as always Jason ! Learned that it's tough everywhere in September and you just need to slow down and key on the time of the day . Thanks for the tips .
You can do it!
Nice demonstration, Matt. I bought this exact jig. I have noticed that bent wire weedguards will get the line wrapped more than straight ones. It does not matter as much on a straight retrieve, but if you let the jig drift or skip it, it can happen.
It can happen
Matt, I have switched to the Miller knot after your video on it. My eys and dexterity aren't as good as they used to be, and the Miller knot is one I can tie fast and consistently. I can't wait for Core to have tungsten offerings! I'm in loon country - no lead.
Glad I could help!
Thanks Matt for the awesome video on that small swim jig. I trying my best to build my confidence in the swim jig. Like the tips on fishing them in a river since I do a lot of fishing there myself. Looks like the best way is to fish them up stream!! Will have to order some of those 2/0 size. Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
You can do it!
I fish skirtless bladed-jigs that way often with a bulky but shorter worm as trailer for perch. The blade helps me have it higher in the water and get abit more movment and hangtime on "the drop" after I poped it a few times.
Sounds good!
I tied the Miller knot for around 50 years; before I ever knew it had a real name!!! 😂
Haha
I’m pretty new to bass fishing and swim jigs are my favorite.
Glad you like them!
Loved this show reminded me of fishing a local river when I was in high school back in the 1960’s.
Thanks for watching!
Finesse swim jig has always been the absolute juice for me. Finds the fish quickly and helps to weed out the dinks. What more could an angler ask for?
Agreed
That is a great tip I have been struggling to get bitten on my half once black and blue jig might just be a little bit too big
Yep
I am really envious of the river you have to fish.
There’s about 10 like this within a couple hours of me
I threw this exact swim jig back in August with a white Berkley The Deal as the trailer and had a blast putting fish after fish in my hands.
Love this!
I've caught a lot of fish on the 2/0 1/4oz. They are great swim baits. Only issue as mentioned by someone else is the line does foul on the weed guard. But the core tackle are my go to swim jigs paired with a baby menace rage tail. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the support!
What you call an Alabama shake I call an Oroville California shake been fishing that way for 45 years realy works great on the spots.
I like it!
Great video Matt awesome bass catches with those jigs. Thank you sir 👍🏻
You bet
What's unstoppable is the sales of the finesse dirty bill. I've been checking back regularly, and they are always sold out. Got some of the other colors. Keep innovating boys. And what does a guy gotta do to get a pair of them nifty core tackle fishing shorts?
Haha! No shorts for sale yet
Love the swim jig videos. Have three of them right now
Thanks for watching!
I’ve caught lots of fish this year on the core tackle swim jig!!
Me too!
One of your best videos ever. Keep this content coming.
Thanks! Will do!
Ordered 9 off of Tackle Warehouse yesterday.. Going Fast!
Awesome!!! I hope you enjoy!
Yep. There it is. Skinny water Smallies the best.
So fun!
The 2/0 version is amazing. 3.5 swammer or Little Dipper and you’re set for a fun day of fishing. … what action rod are you using?
7’3” MH fast
I like it and I’m getting me some of those jigs
you should!
THanks.
You bet!
ORDERING RIGHT NOW WELL BE GREAT ON THE LAKES I FISH
Best of luck with them!
Lighter let’s it fall great in that current
sounds good
Really like watching your videos
Thanks for watching!
Are you willing to make one even smaller? Recently I've been using a Keitech Mono Spin jig and catching a wide variety of species, which I enjoy. The keeper on the Keitech breaks very easily and I would gladly use a different jig.
Considering it
Will 3-4 inch paddle tail swimbaits fished in a shallow part of milwaukee river work for smallmouth this time of year?
Absolutely
I have both the 2/0 and 4/0 versions. I really like them. I have had a few hookup issues with the 2/0. I notice you use the same size wire weed guard for both sizes. Could that be a reason why? And I'm curious why the 2/0 doesn't have a smaller weed guard. 👊 EDIT- Nevermind, just got to the part in the video where you talk about it.
I like them too haha!
How do you get that big boat in such a little river?
It’s just parts of bigger water
1/4 ounce I like the 1/8 ounce has been working great for bigmouth Bass. Even smaller in the mini king. 3.5 trailer bait how about the 2.5 baits 3inch is maximum for my pown I fish inn.
Nice!
Right when I started fishing swimjigs someone told me I needed to wait until I felt pressure before I set the hook instead of reacting immediately like I would with a spinnerbait or chatter bait. I have found that to be true. Not sure why other than maybe they have to double-clutch to get the bait firmly in their mouth because of the weedguard. Is that your experience?
Yep let it load up
Would love to get one 👍
Available at TW
Was up north past weekend and they seem to have moved away from the banks where we usually find them in the summer time. Caught a few but not like how it was. What are your thoughts on this as we transition into fall?
Start to move away from bank with falling temps
@@MattStefanFishing where do you tend to find them as they move away from the banks? Do they find hard structures in the rivers systems?
So efficent with the left hand retreive. No switching hands B.S. I dont understand why guys do the switching hands crap.Any how thanks Matt nice little jig.
Thanks for watching
Hey Matt, What are your thoughts on A-Rig fishing?
I don’t do much of it
What color Grass Pig are you using?
Pearl is my favorite
Where can I get these jigs?
www.tacklewarehouse.com/Core_Tackle_Swim_Jig/descpage-CTSJ.html?from=MSFG
If you ain’t ticking the grass on the way in, you ain’t catching.
Haha
Why are you in your regular boat and not the jet boat on this river?
Coin flip

Thanks for watching
This has nothing to do with this video . I bought a megabass 110 jr. yesterday. It already had what I believe are the Aaron Marten hooks , definitely not the Katsuage hooks .
Hmmm interesting
Very seldom throw anything more than a 3.25.
Thanks for watching!
🍺🤠👍.
