    Hi,
Happy to see our ancestors ancient knowledge is being tried to be restored. All the houses were unique in their own way of construction.

The mud house of the paddy farmer, with the mud courtyard.. That's the best. I've seen many mud houses and traditionally built houses throughout my life.. In villages of Bengal and here in Almora.... But a courtyard built completely with mud and not with stones, that too, not a small courtyard but a rather spacious one... That's so astonishing. Doesn't the rain erode it away? How frequently does it need to be repaired. How much time and energy is spend in maintaining it, putting a new layer upon the old worn out layer of mud.. So many questions in my mind..
Thanks to your team, all this beautiful, aesthetic and inspiring knowledge is starting to spread.
    🙏😊🙂

I liked the 300 year old mud-home of Wayanad Kerala the most. The bamboo mud attic space is wonderful!

Surprised to see how often the thatch is changed. In the UK a thatched roof will last 40-50 years. Maybe it is due to the tropical climate there?

In our region of telangana we have roofing made of wood for rows, coloumns and on coloumns we use small flat wood and on top of it a particular type of clay and sand type of soil that is found in the region is used that is called soudu, walls are mostly of stone or mud and coated lime plaster called dungu sunnam,
We in our village used to have a two floored house with same method of construction.
the stairs to the upstairs were the best and had smooth finish like marble with redcolour, I dont know what material they are made of, you can find these type of houses in villages around hyderabad.
But now they are rapidly being replaced by cement and concrete homes, I feel so sad about it.
My father saying that even poor people dont want to build a mud house and they are waiting for government to give money to them for building a house.

Please give contacts of contractors who can build these kinds of homes.
Please don't tell us that we have to build it ourselves, that is not practical for everyone.
    Thanks

Sharing what I did myself.. I hired 2 village workers with a head mistry, who was open minded and agreed to do as I instructed. 😄. I asked him to come for 2 days, showed him the videos of the particular mud construction that I wanted to be done. He understood. I watched over, as the construction work went on. It went more or less well.
What I didn't foresee, and I want others to be aware of... is that rats and mice start to make tunnels in the mud walls. And spiders and insects come in more.. So please search for traditional ways to make the walls.... adding materials that repel rodents etc.
Best of luck for your future project. 🙏👍
