Good tip re: insulating the exhaust hose. I think the fan constantly running might be a good thing as it keeps the air moving. P.S.: Screw Summer!!🙂

I've got the same one but the 12,000 btu version. I agree it's great at cooling but noisy. I need my bedroom door open otherwise it's as cold as a walk in meat cooler lol

How to keep the compressor running to cool the room constant

I have this New in box unopened in a store room for maybe 3 years now... We wanted to have if if/when our main home AC goes out and needs repair... because it's unbearable being without AC..... Last time ours went out... someone had one similar in storage and let us borrow it.... and we were fighting over it because we have separate rooms.... so we planned ahead to have TWO of them in case of emergencies...

This is a very smart idea. My mom has central air, she still has one of these in her room because it gets hot like an oven. I know I will save mine when I finally get a place with central air. Like you said, you just never know. It is best to be prepared. The last thing you'd want is to be forced to buy one while you're trying to find the finances to fix a central air system at the same time 😭 better to buy them when the central air is working great 🤣

@@ToyotaCelicaDude1 Oh yea... definitely don't get rid of it.... The only thing I dread is cleaning them... I know they get dirty inside and I've seen vids of people taking them apart to clean them...

Just bought a 6000 btu lg portable. Its freaking horrible. The vent pipe gets so hot its like having a baseboard heater on and the room.
The coldest it gets my room is 79-81 degrees. Its going back to home depot.

@@jimbo4260 that's a bummer, I'm sorry yours didn't work out. To get these running efficiently, you have to insulate the hose. I used a blanket, and I can chill the room to the lower 60s 🙏. Plus, you gotta insulate the window panel as well. I'd say if you're in any position to do such, shoot for a window AC unit. Portable units are known to be more finicky 🙏
