Great video Cliff. Any recommendations for a cheap microphone or do you just use the phone mic? How has the stream quality been with just a phone plan compared to using a LiveU?
Thank you so much! So far, I've used the inbuilt mic, Ulanzi J12 and Rode Wireless Me. The Ulanzi is my favourite of the three but has a few issues I should probably cover in a video. Maybe comparing all three? I've done a few streams with a Belabox and Sony 300/3000 and will do more once I have all my own parts. Sadly no funds to compare these with a LiveU. Maybe in the future? At the moment... I prefer the "look" and "simplicity" of a phone stream. Less moving parts / hardware issues that can go wrong but I can see the advantages of an "IRL Backpack" like bonding multiple connections :)
@@cliffcreates It's double the price (still considered affordable in wireless microphones space) but the saramonic blink500b2+ might be worth it over the Ulanzi J12. Well it'd be great if there was a 100% guarantee of a solid connection everywhere but mobile connections are very fickle and can cut out at any time. For example, I have internet dead zones in my own home so I'd avoid them while streaming but when you're doing IRL you have no idea where these dead zones can be. Lots of people in one space can cause connection issues too. And this is where disconnect protection comes in handy for when there's no signal in a given area your viewers see a friendly BRB message until your connection is good again. Hope that explains it a bit. Thanks :)
@@cliffcreatesyes it did help. My problem is I want to do IRL I have 1 phone, iPhone 13… and I want to stream with it I have unlimited data but like you said I can always hit dead spots, but that’s where the disconnection protection comes into play. Should I pay to get a hotspot or just use cellular data? Rather save money.
@@Takota419 Oh I see, the cheapest way would be to learn where you have a good connection and stick to those places if possible. That way you won't need anything extra - but I guess that also limits where you can go. I'd run a speed test before live-streaming so you'll know if you'll be fine. A change of mobile provider might mean better cellular connectivity but there's lots of reasons why that might not be possible (only provider, contracts, etc). After that you can either optimize how you're streaming with a codec (H.265) and protocol (SRT) better suited for it like what I talk about in my other videos. Or you can do connection bonding using a hotspot and an app like Speedify but ofc you've got extra costs of the hotspot and sim card plan. Hope that helps :)
Hi, can you create a tutorial on how to set up a stream with 2 different cameras (action cams) and how to switch between the two cameras? I saw streamers like Jinnytty having a setup like that. thank you !
Sure, I've done a two cam setup using NoALBS and also Loopy, the second of which (Loopy) I'm currently using. I'll put it on the list of future videos. Thanks!
It could be that you're holding it vertically before going live, then rotating it afterwards. Next time make sure you're holding your phone horizontally, count to 3 seconds, then press the "go live" button. Once you get the hang of things you won't have to do the countdown part. Hope that helps :)

Hey, all good. I actually did a test stream using the RUclips app a while back. It’s a fine app if that’s all you’ve got but it lacks in a couple of areas like not being able to stream above 720p and if you’re in a rough connection area the stream will stop meaning you’ll have to start a new stream every time that happens. You also can’t add overlays like your social network info and a few other things. Hope that helps :)
as someone who is interested in eventually doing IRL streams, my one weakness is understanding plans and data, and how much it would cost :( Its very confusing for me
It depends how often and how long you'll IRL stream, also mobile data plans available for your area. 1GB of mobile data for every hour you stream should give you an idea of what you'll need. For example, if you only do one stream of 2 hours that works out to 2 x 1GB = 2 GB. We have capped and unlimited plans where I live and I basically started with what I had until I ran out of data. I upgraded to a 20GB plan, then again to 100GB plan, until I switched to a provider with unlimited data plans. Of course, this is my situation so you might be fine on a smaller plan, it's different for everyone.
@@cliffcreates thanks! I feel If/When I do stream It will be like 12 hours a day as it will be a travel stream. It makes me wonder how people do 24 hour streams, do they just buy multiple sims cards?
