Would have been nice to hear the plane
The sounds of a plane are important to a lot of people, so the smooth jazz over the engine noises and takeoff roll, especially since you mentioned rolling over the runway lights produces a sound, was an odd choice.
Is the music used to mask the atrocious sounds?
how'd you get all the Alaska airlines planes to populate? Did that come with the KPDX airport add-on?

do you know what's up with the speedo? sweep gauge seemed to be mph and number drums seemed to be kph. Then the drums stayed at 150 even when stopped at the gate (and sweep hands were at 0).
one is gs, one is ias and the other is tas, all in knots. Could be wrong but that’s pretty industry standard. Almost no planes display speed in mph or kph, because we don’t measure distance in km or miles
@@blindsight_music_ doesn't make sense, though, because it was still reading 150 when the plane was parked(!).
Only reason I said mph/kph was that actually made the ratio from the dial to the drum work out out to the right numbers...
anyhow, just couldn't unsee it...

With the engines waaay in the back you can't even hear them anyway, even at power. Just ambient cockpit noises which are themselves fairly quiet

Does anyone know if shared cockpit functionality is included or coming in the future?
I have no doubts MSFS will develop shared cockpits in the future. They have bigger fish to fry right now though. So in answer to your question, no it doesn't.
@@MrBillUp hey, I didn't mean MSFS, in the past there was a patch for the FSX version that includes shared cockpit for the maddog from maddog itself.
@@denisbrenner6321 Yes, but for that to work, the sim needs to be able to P2P our connections, so any patch for the Maddog wouldn't work.

@@denisbrenner6321 No Dennis mate. I'm just aware that there is no way to share a cockpit atm from within MSFS. It has been asked for several times with other aircraft. As I said, I have no doubts its on the list of job to do, but not a priority.
Hard to learn ? I’m comfortable with all CRJ models for FS2020 :) Still a big step-up !
The MD-80 is a bit steeper of a learning curve and has a number of quirks that other aircraft don't since it's caught in that mid-ground point between modern tech and the older tech. As long as you're prepared for that, there are a lot of resources available to help learn from the P3D version of the plane that are still mostly applicable on this version. I'd highly recommend taking a look at Chuck's Guide for the P3D version to get an idea of what goes on with operation. Let us know what you think if you decide to take the plunge!

Another YT'er posted a video and said there were no internal sounds, i.e. button clicks, etc. Is this true?

How are we to hear all the sounds when you inset music everywhere in the video? You lost me at takeoff describing sounds you can’t hear because of the music you put in.
I'd give this review a 5/5 star rating, if that was possible. Thank you for providing relevant information within a decent 20 minute time frame and not talking for the sake of talking.
Well, it seems to be more or less exactly the maddog we know from p3d, just flying in msfs. That means to me, I'll stay with what I have and not buy another maddog at full price - to enjoy the plane itself I don't need fancy landscape. Certainly an interesting plane for those who did not yet have it for p3d or for those who feel the need to fly it in msfs.
The video isbgood but the music is extremly anoying and you cant hear the sound of the aircraft

Personally I liked the touch of Jaaaaaz over the video. Makes a change from electronic and rock music etc... Also this is a showcase, not a review. There are plenty of videos of the Maddog reviewing the sounds. I liked the style adopted for this video. It was brief and to the point.

dude that's not the plane why would they add jass music for the engine sound. They put as background music. I cant with some of you people

Nice plane but 90 EUR is far too much for me. Lets see what PMDG or Justflight is offering.
PMDG offering isnt going to be cheaper. We are lucky if they even price the 700 @60USD.

You're obviously new to Flight Sims lol. For a "study level" aircraft, thats pretty cheap. I take it you don't play War Robots, or World of Tanks, or any of these A+ titles where you spend upwards of £100 for a single robot or tank. Also you wait until FS Labs has a crack at MSFS, and their base pack A320 costs you £145 lol 😂Now that is a rip off.
