Fun Fact: the guy who is playing Gary from Are you Afraid of the Dark is the meteorologist in Global TV, a Canadian broadcast! Dracula, the series was the bomb!! I recommend it!
I miss the 90s YTV 🥹 Thank you for making this video. Good nostalgia. I remember when The Dead House was premiering on YTV, and then it was Buffy the Vampire slayer. My brothers and I were glued to the tv. Good time 😊
I was one of those kids from New Brunswick trying so desperately to get the call through.... ( wish i had speed dial ) lmao I also was born in 1986!! I was the perfect age Demographic at the time for YTV's Dark Night, i remember all those great shows!! I still watch em today lol btw i actually liked Dracula the series it kinda reminded me of another show i liked called "Forever Knight" i was obsessed with Vampires Also that Twilight Zone episode "Monsters" scared the shiat outta me at the end XD same with the episode "Night Shift" from Are Afraid of The Dark" That vampire was horrifying as a kid. Halloween in the 90's was special ahh good memories
Legit Canadian 90's kid stuff!!! Powerful nostalgia blast from the skull, I might download some goosebumps and are you afraid of the dark for spooktober, thanks for reminding me!!!!
One of my friends was the home winner from Video and Arcade Top Ten, he got a game and some other show branded stuff, it wasn’t hand delivered by Nicholas Picholas though.
Haha, I live in New Brunswick! And I tried so darn hard to win one of those prizes every year! Dark Night was appointment viewing for me each year, for sure! Happy Halloween! 🎃
Great retrospective, I was too young to see any of the Dark Nights when they first came out. My first YTV Halloween experience was Halloweird in 1999. BTW Dark Night 6 wasn't a game show, it was a weird surrealist horror segment set in a kid's new school. You can find it on Retrontario's channel.
Great and informative video on this block of YTV's! Would've been great to see back then, if I had been around. Hope you make more videos on other YTV stuff like this!
I remember taping YTV one year during Halloween while I went out. It had a vampire...really bad make up LOL! But he was introducing the shows. It had Freaky Fridays and the first 2 episodes of buffy back to back on. I was SO excited to come home. I miss those times man. I think this was either 1997 or 1998... Oh. That made me feel old. LOL!
There was just something special about the week leading up to Halloween on YTV, capped off with their Halloween night lineup. For many of us Canadian kids, I think YTV was fully incorporated into the fun of Halloween. I have fond memories of catching the tail end YTV's Dark Night, sitting in the living room, still in full costume, pillow case full of candy in front of me... Good times!
When I was a kid, I did win a couple YTV contests. One of them was 100$ and some game for the PC. YTV was pretty cool. ALSO, my jaw dropped when you said you've never watched "Are Your Afraid of the Dark?" and "Goosebumps." I may ignorantly assume you grew up in a relgious household lol
I remember catching some of the 1995 one at a friends place. I saw the Freaky Stories and Goosebumps episodes for sure. Pretty sure the 90's Outer Limits debuted that night too on another channel. It was the Under the Bed episode.
Something I'm surprised wasn't mentioned: the troublemaking kid in The Tale of the Water Demons is Tony Sampson, who would later go on to voice Eddy in Ed, Edd n Eddy. He's retired from voice acting, and currently works in the Canadian oil sands industry. He's also been a musician since 2013, which I only just found out.
Tale of the Dead Man's Float totally wrecked me, I think I was 12 and didn't want to go swimming for quite some time!!! Then AvP Requiem gave the NC17 rating version eh!!
As a filthy American, I remember Nickelodeon advertising the hell out of that Chameleon episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? because of the guest stars. Whenever a well-known actor or actress was in an episode, they advertised it a LOT. I remember they advertised the one with Melissa Joan Hart a lot, too.
Spooky Stories was my highlight of each Halloween. It wasn't nearly as good when it became a regularly aired show. Also that wasn't the Civil War, redcoats are British. It's likely that was the Revolutionary War, or the War of 1812.
What a throwback
Canada in the 1990s as a kid was the absolute best childhood anytime or anywhere

One of the best episodes if not the best , definitely most memorable visuals along with the dollhouse episode.
that Smarties blanket rules and I want it.
As a kid of the 90s, I have no memory of this somehow.
You’re my favourite creator, this was amazing! Thanks for bringing back some fun Canadian memories!
What city are you in by the way!?
How many of y'all ate smarties i remember getting so many rolls of those in the Halloween goodies bag
I remeber watching are you are afraid of the dark from back when it was on nickoldeon
I was convinced Freaky Stories only had one episode when I was a kid. 😂
I forgot all about PJ Jenn, I had a big crush on her when I was 9-10 years old lol
