Also before I get comments about it, yes I'm now aware I messed up explaining the "BFN is technically GW3" bit. It was a test name before things really got changed, I apologize for the confusion And one last edit just because I kinda expected this, please remember that what we’re talking about here is a hypothetical follow-up to a game centered around shooting Plants and Zombies with pellets and peas. I see some of the comments and have deleted a few, if you’re getting obscenely nasty with your replies I’m not engaging. Be so real, it’s childish to hate enough to threaten over a series like this :)
@@TwilightChomperEnthusiast actually tiktok was my inspiration for this video. About a year or so ago, I made a video explaining my thoughts on if we’d ever get a BFN2 or GW3. I said “nah, but the more likely of those two is BFN2 if that were ever a possibility” and I got sooooo much hate 😭
I don’t think having more variants and characters would be bad since not many people take the game that seriously and unlocking the characters and trying them is the fun part. I also think saying that there’s no room for innovation is silly because you can say that for any well received game.
Can very much understand where you're coming from, it could be just my perspective seeing what PopCap's tried and failed at. The game could possibly have something to innovate with, but the company behind the game isn't really all that great at this sorta stuff sadly.
Honestly, i'd say what we really need is a GW2 rerelease with maybe 1 or 2 more varients per class, balance tweaks, a couple new maps, a new way to get Unicorn Chomper but most importantly Crossplay, Cross Progression and a Competitive mode (I'd borrow TF2's highlander format) GW2 is basically perfect, it's just outdated in some of it's online play structure.
GW2 Switch edition would make me scream, tbh. I loved when BFN got that treatment, but now I gotta see at least GW2 (now I'm thinking of bundling the two games together with GW2's artstyle, like all the maps from GW1 would return in this Switch edition for GW2)
@@evilyoshimaster I just don’t ever see it happening. Bear in mind that PopCap has yet to make a PVZ1 remaster, and that’s some of the easiest money imaginable. It’d be interesting to see what would happen for GW2, but yeahhh I’m holding my tongue on re-releases until PopCap proves they could even do the first game justice.
I feel the best way to improve GW3 from GW2 is use a bunch of BFN’s best attributes (Regions, Prize Maps, A Multiplayer Hub World, ETC) and expand it into something bigger, we can add more original game modes to multiplayer, perhaps modes like: (Taco Bandits, Soil Survivors, Boss Hunt) and several new ones such as: (a Multiplayer Flag Of Power, Plants vs Evil Clone Plants & Zombies vs Evil Clone Zombies, A Boss Hunt where a team defends the boss from an opposing team and many more) on top of that BFN invented new game modes so I think they can do it for this as well. And on top of all of that it can have a compelling and interesting story perhaps something about the war getting so out of hand, that Suburbia is falling into an apocalyptic state, maybe have plants and zombies team up somewhere in the story to defeat the gnomes? a TRUE explanation on how this war even started in the first place? all of these things are what I want to see in a Plants vs Zombies story. And why are you saying they’re not gonna add new maps and new campaigns, of course they’ll do that how could they not? that’s what’s EXPECTED in a sequel is it not? Speaking of which have these maps and campaign be the most creative and best they’ve ever been. All of those steps including obviously adding new classes and variants, along with at least fixing the major balancing (Such as mid-air detonator characters) which unfortunately will break a lot things in the process and we got a game that’s massively improved what GW2 has done.
Bfn got fucked over by the fact that so many people went into expect it be a surrogate garden warfare 3 that it never got chance to be it's own thing. I still think it the weakest of the 3 shooters, but thats not saying much when it's still a solid 8/10. Besides, does anyone here actually trust modern popcap to make a good sequel? They're like valve. At one point i would have trusted them, but at this point in time, their current track record isn't doing them any favors
Tbh. It can't happen even if Popcap tried. The team who made GW1, GW2 (And Bfn ofc) have left and are doing other things. So if Popcap did make a GW3. It won't have the same charm as GW1 & GW2. Because if they hired new Devs on the game, they prob give them a run down on the game and won't give them much info on it. They would change a lot of stuff that the community wouldn't like. Like Foot Soldier would use a shotgun and he could switch weapons and other variants could do that can hurt hard. I love GW1, GW2, and BFN. But Popcap isn't themselves as they used to be back in 2009 to 2017. Their golden age is over and we have to accept that. The only thing we can do is wait for time to fly and see what happens. ( Also updating GW2 might be good. But then again, I'd rather stick to what we have now...)
I feel like gw3 would just be am expansion to gw2 rather than an actual new game I personally wouldn't mind if gw3 was just the same varients but as 2 but just more for the gw2 classes like have 10 corn variations like peashooter 10 imp varients etc maybe add party sunflower, all star and whatnot and maybe the bfn cast but thats probably all they could do for a gw3 other than new maps and modes.
@@_Celestial An expansion idea is neat, something like Persona 5 Royal or Pokemon Emerald. Though honestly they’d have a shit ton to work on if that was something they ever considered, and considering the state of the team… yeah not likely.
@@SylviaYSI Even the state of the game is a lot to handle. I wanted to talk about all of my ability balance proposals in one video, but the script ended up being ~8 times longer than any other video I've made. And that's not even considering the BFN abilities or the CHARACTERS themselves...
i don't think it'll ever come out, but if it does, i just want it to be like gw2, but better (if it's even possible). Great video Sylvia, wish you an amazing day, much love :3.
@@bouser It’s hard to top GW2 for a company like PopCap. This is assuming that the same team is working on the game, and well… we know the end of that story. It’s late in the evening, but I hope you have / had an amazing day too :3
for me all a gw3 would have to do is a new version of the backyard, a few new maps and making it so that every character has at least 1 legendary variant (can be unique or just a character with a legendary meter like the party characters)
BFN was pretty fun, but lacks substance. I think the lack of variants really hurts it because it just got kind of boring and repetitive, the singleplayer was really good and well-fleshed out, but the multiplayer got stale quick.
@@OrangeFRFR I see where you’re coming from, there’s some lacking parts in the game. If it got more development time, it’d probably have had more fleshed out areas and overall more content
I think also the very early release of bfn really hurt it in the long run, If it was allowed to have more time to Develop longer it would’ve likely been a much more successful release overall to the greater public Just having little content on release and through updates just didn’t help it’s case when garden warfare 2 just had so much of it already (arguably maybe you could count the very big art-style shift from GW2 to BFN making people not wanna play it)
@ocularzombie6679 in my opinion Rux's shop isn't that bad. It's supposed to be for newer players who aren't going to pay money for special abilities & characters. 35k is 2 full turf takeover games. I do agree that it can be lowered but should stay at a more expensive price since it is the challenge that is the most fun. I always had fun racing to 500k for abilities I missed and it is incredibly easy to accumulate coins for me.
First I want All characters to have 10 versions each and that they add the bfn roster. Also all the characters that got their ability’s changed from GW2 to bfn get their GW2 abilities also I want 4 new classes
I agree with your statement since if GW3 is released today it'll be plagued with many problems plaguing the AAA industry (primarily live service games): - Online-only (which means you cannot play the game without internet and also requires subscriptions just to play the game on consoles) and no single-player campaign. - Variants will be added but several variants get removed from launch for no reason just to add back later (just my theory) - "Release it now, fix it later" mentality allows EA to rush GW3, releasing it as a buggy unfinished game and fixing it later *cough* Battlefield 2042 *cough*
I agree with your statements regarding GW3 being pointless. But how would you feel if they decided to bring back GW2, and update the game? They could have some really cool features! Some would include, adding Cross Play, updating graphics, fixing bugs + glitches, balancing characters, and maybe even adding new maps, and brining back old mystery portal modes. I always hoped this would be a possibility one day because the player base in GW2 hasn’t gone down too much and it’s awesome to see people caring about the game 8.5 years later. Think of it similar to Overwatch. Overwatch shut down the servers to their first game, updated, balanced, and remodeled everything. Then made an identical game and slapped the number 2 on it.
@@ChronosPlayz That would be a very ballsy move for PopCap. The Overwatch 2 comparison is interesting, though I don’t think it holds much weight when you look at how that game is compared to GW2. OW2 succeeded because the game is ultimately just OW1 but free (and a little worse but realistically doesn’t matter much), GW2 would need to do something similar to capture people’s interests because I guarantee most people who initially bought GW2 wouldn’t buy the same game 8 years later.
also most of the reason people love gw2 is nostalgia, nostalgia plays a huge factor and if gw3 existed and was slightly different then gw2, people would be pissed
@@puzzledhypnoshroom1004I mean games that shouldn't be live services are becoming live services and these live service slop games fail quickly. In reality games should be like you play it you enjoy it and then you move on to the next game.
@@manachromeYT Nah. In my opinion it was Solid. Not great but Just Solid. I enjoyed Minecraft Legends. It’s Gameplay it’s controls are simple to learn & get a hold of, The Combat is great sending in units in different types of attack strategies is fun, the building is good but I would change the way you remove structures especially with Walls, Great Story & Plot as it acts like a prequel to Minecraft Dungeons, Unique Artstyle, the Versus mode is Very Fun & the Battle Can really begin to Heat up the moment You Build a Redstone Launcher to destroy structures and Sending Your Troops to attack the enemy base while being buffed by a Cauldron. I respect your opinion. They should’ve gave Legends a first Anniversary before Mojang & Blackbird Interactive discontinued.
I feel like this video called out the community lmao. She is right, the community has made both positive impacts but also very negative ones. They just want more of what they got, but the game already reached a limit where if they added more, it would break open and flood everywhere with more negativity. And you already know how negative gaming communities can be I bet. The community is a famished beast that is hungry for pretty much anything, but throws its food out if there is something new added and isn’t the same
the thing about sequels is that they always have to stand out from the last game with their new features. they cant simply just have more content or characters or whatever. then there would be no reason to even have a sequel if the new content could snuggly fit in to the old game. gw2 already has so much stuff, and anything that people think could be in gw3 could just be more stuff to add to gw2. people look down on bfn but it honestly isnt a bad game. they thought how hard it would be to add new variants to the characters and how overwhelming it would be to some people. so they took a good approach and added upgrades you could customize the characters with, so now you can basically build your own variants with there being so many combinations.
Honestly if they didn’t change the title to BFN, actually marketed it more, improved on and focused more on PvP while still keeping its PvE, had variants, didn’t lock characters behind paywalls, didn’t have a bad impression upon launch and was already well balanced and was in the more playable state it is today, people would herald it as a good GW3. Hell they wouldn’t need to change the title (unless they wanna attract more GW fans) if it was just better from the beginning, marketed well and all that, players wouldn’t be so harsh on it
Personally, l think a gw3 could have been could if it was released back in the day when the franchise was still willing to do big ambitious projects like gw2. I feel like the people working on the games back then would know how to go about a gw3 and avoid some of the pitfalls you brought up
Couldn't agree more. There's more zombies than Plants, which triggers my OCD. If the unfinished Iceberg Lettuce character was maybe added, then my OCD would finally be at peace.
@@MoebiusX9 Can you imagine if Iceberg Lettuce actually got added with proper balancing? That, along with those legendary upgrades too… I’d genuinely love it
Same here. I personally really like BFN despite its flaws, and I think having new characters and Legendary upgrades not only would provide sufficient variety as much as actual variants, but they would also be much easier to balance since you don't have to account for as many characters.
Tbh if they made a gw3 and just add all the characters from all GW games and all maps then I would be happy. Like tbh I just want solo play with every gw1 map
What id do is instead of making new variants get rid of the unpopular classes and replace with new Change the legendaries from party to somthing else Add new maps Fix the chompers Make new promtion rewards
GW2 updates is the thing (even if it is impossible), the game is ready, it's still expensive but it's the most realistic thing to happen to revive PVZ shooters. And about PVZ3, they are updating the game to put a Battle Pass, Almanac, Multiplayer content, more plants... What I'm trying to say is that they may cook with this game, even if it is bad now, maybe they are doing something, like these Supercell games that are pretty popular. PVZ3 is our only hope for the franchise, maybe it's time to criticize, but not hating.
I believe the best thing for them to do would be to resume updates for bfn, however thats not happening and even if it did, wouldnt have high hopes for it
Bfn was exactly what the fps side of the franchise needed. Something fresh, new, and different. And of course, the PvZ community took that dish and threw it at the wall, whining until the game closed its eyes. It still angers and saddens me to this day that bfn never got its proper chance from the players to shine
Quite unfortunate indeed. When designing a GW3, I always find myself coming back to BFN because of how many little changes it made that make the gameplay experience SO much better. GW2 may be the superior game, but you can't say that it doesn't have its BS at times lol.
realistically speaking imo, i think bfn was a good choice to stray away from the variants thing, it did have potential to be even better than gw2, but due to the mismanagement of the staff, and the overall negative feedback from 2019 to present day, that wouldn’t be the case, and that just breaks me apart like a lego set.
The franchise wasn't getting stale it only had 2 games if the game was marketed better and distanced it self from the previous games it could have been good but bfn changed to much from the previous games
Another thing is that, even if by some magical miracle Gw3 ends up being good, there are still a lot of factors to consider when it comes to sales. Think about it: the current market is quite saturated with her shooters. Overwarch, Marvel Rivals, Deadlock... and most of them are quite hated. And believe it or not, the pvz shooter games are also hero shooters (at least an extent), meaning that a Gw3 game will also have to compete with not only Gw2 and Bfn, but also its entire competition. So even if it ends uo being good, it will be hated anyways just for existing. And if there is something i learned from Bfn and Pvz3, is that recently EA hates adding some advertising. So, in other words, Gw3 might sell as bad, if not worse, than Bfn. But honestly, my main issue with this Gw3 thing is how muhc ober excitment there is for nothing. Like, what makes people believe that Gw3 will be an instant masterpiece? What makes people believe what we will get Bfn hidden as Gw3 instead of a proper Gw? Guys, just deal with it. Modern Popcap is not the same as old Popcap. If you eant Gw3, make a fangame of it yourself.
@@Otherface Regarding that last statement, based off of what I’m reading in the replies clearly there’s a project in the works right now. Perhaps the community can cook? Only time will tell, otherwise this game is a complete pipedream
@@SylviaYSI I've heard of it before, but the last thing I heard from said project is that it was canceled. Thought I haven't seen an actual statement about it.
Personally I think the hero shooter hate started with MS:A which failed due to a bad plot despite having decent graphics and being mechanically good. People then were expecting a story game. Not a shooter. Same deal with BFN people were expecting more garden warfare but we got something else. Doesn't seem like people understand what spinoffs are.
to be honest if they were to ever make a gw 3 they could just fuse the pvp aspect of gw 2 with the pve aspect of BFN and give all the new BFN characters variants in that game and be done with it, the thing that made gw 2 great is the huge hero roster that pretty much gives u a version of the character class that fits your playstyle with the only real issue for gw 2 being the lack of pve and co op content where as BFN was the opposite where the pve/co op was great but pvp aspect was greatly lacking compared to gw 2 due to the lack of variants despite the new classes so playing pvp in bfn got old and stale really quick where as the giant hero roster and fun crazy matches has been keeping gw 2 not only alive but thriving even though it's 8 years old, as it's 1 of those crazy whacky games you can hop on and enjoy like team fortress 2 and other games where it's non competitive craziness, it's 1 of the few shooter games that's family/child friendly, now i doubt we will ever get a gw 3 though but if it ever some how happens then i hope they do what i mentioned earlier and just fuse the pvp and variants from GW 2 and the pve aspect of bfn into a gw 3 and stick with whats tried and true instead of trying to change it since bfn removing character variants and pvz 3 both failing miserably made it obvious the fans want whats tried and true rather then something new that changes the gameplay up alot.
Gw1 maps + gw2 everything (including style, bfn is ugly) + bfn's better balance + it's characters + it's good side=perfect gw3. I think we don't need a brand new everything, we just need to mash up the good side of these three games.
I definitely hope that if in the unlikely scenario it does ever happen, GW3 doesnt erase all the good things BFN added, I love some of the characters added in that game.
As much as you give strong points there is the possibility that instead of all the characters getting more variants it’s just the ones that are lacking in some areas. Ex:imp getting new elemental variants.Theres also the possibility that instead we just get more continued support on gw2.
I think new updates for GW2 would be enough. I have dreamed countless times about GW2 getting new updates, like new maps and balancing and game modes coming back
I truly believe that bfn was the last good PVZ game pop cap made, but its problem was that the marketing was nonexistent and the majority of its audience was unhappy with it. The game was doomed to be compared to its already “perfect” predecessor, which ended in its reputation being that it was the worst game among the pvz shooters. Imo bfn as a stand-alone game isn’t even that bad. If bfn was given a little more time and attention I wonder if it actually would’ve been something to keep the franchise up float.
the "we know popcap" part is not true tho, popcap changed a lot through the years and tons of developers were fired, you can't know how they could've handle it, otherwise good video
I've been thinking the same thing these past few years. Begging for a titanfall 3 and garden warfare 3 would honestly probably ruin my expectations. I'd fully expect Ea to fill both with battlepasses and microtransactions or be a live service that slowly dies like helldivers 2. The magic of tf2 and gw2 wouldnt make it to a modern videogame and would just be a cashgrab.
Honestly, if I were to wish a GW3 into existance... I would just wish for more of a GW ultimate kind of thing. Basically, make it a Switch port (like with what happened to BFN) and fuse GW1 and 2 together. Might sound strange, but hear me out: What if we could play all the OG maps from GW1 in GW2, not just Wall-Nut Hills? What if GW2 had the sprinting mechanic like BFN? The possibilities for a Switch port are massive! (plus, I just wanna experience GW1&2 without having to get an Xbox)
I think what I would've really wanted from a content update or a new game would be to have more maps for a sense of variety outside of the characters, including recreations of GW1 and GW2 maps with adjustments to the layout to let the new coming characters fit in the map. I remember the reason that the GW2 Characters weren't normally playable in Wall-Nut Hills because they would get stuck in certain parts of the map. Though I do see how that concept would be quite ambitious for a new GW/PvZ Shooter game.
I guarantee that BFN would have been way more successful if they just added variants. Imagine how cool it would be to have returning variants like plasma pea or the party characters mixed with whatever new variants they could have made for the new classes
@@Bun_bunny195 I mean they kind of would, since it allows for much more playable characters and the hype of unlocking new ones. They'd make the game _better_, but not guaranteed to be automatically good as a result
@@Bun_bunny195the upgrade system is the replacement for the variants which is stupid. If there were variants to the game then there wouldn’t be this trash upgrade system and prestige would only go to master
I mean bfn got killed becous of not haveing character variants and wierd graphic style So in gw3 for me they shoud bring it back and i have idea for balance for exemple: bbq corn Burns every corn he shoots now i will add like Burn meter and enemy will get burned after 6 hit sounds balanced?
In a GW3 that uses BFN as a base for the newer roster of default characters for new variants would more realistically be like: Snapdragon and Electric Slide would either become variants of a class or be removed entirely. Wizard becomes standard. The current Swarm character would either get removed or become DLC characters like Torchwood and Hover Goat 3000 in GW2. No Iceberg Lettuce, Toxic zombie or other elemental characters as default (Berry Brigade and other scrapped characters would do). Torchwood and Hover Goat 3000 could become free starting characters with variants. The costumes could become the new variants but there would be no costume customization (legendary upgrades and their costumes would get combined to become new variants). The new Upgrades need to be designed and built for all variants no issue (some upgrades might as well become new variants).
My ideas & concepts for a potential GW3: * All game modes, characters (variants included), abilities, etc. from GW2 gets ported over * New classes & their respective variants * AI hero overhaul, including random ability loadouts & tweaks to AI behavior (where the AI heroes play more carefully at low HP) * Ability rebalancing, to make "useless abilities" more practical to use * Make the gnomes a more impactful faction in GW3's events & story mode
BFN is a pretty good game. That art style though… all the games in the GW series (and I am considering this game one) had this fairly gritty but goofy art style. The art style BFN is in is best described as “bubblegum”. You’ve probably heard that before, games like Overwatch or Fortnite have this very bright and plasticity look. It’s just not what we wanted, and don’t get me wrong the thing we got was pretty good. But when gaming news outlets and all the sorts told us of a Garden Warfare 3, we were not expecting this.
I think a garden warfare 2 remaster would be better. Just some updated graphics an anti cheat, more polish, a few new variants and continued support. It doesnt take much more than that.
I don't think EA and PopCap are blind to the fan desire for a new shooter game. The demand has shown itself. But as it stands I don't know if they are going to try and make a new shooter until they can even figure out what it might look like. Because lets face it, whoever makes the next shooter is not the team who made the original three. What's going to happen is most likely an entire refresh like BfN was, because replicating the past won't have good results
All the people who worked on gw2 are at dice and other places, so a lot of stuff would have been worse without all those people at popcap Vancouver being elsewhere This isn't the popcap we once had as said
Tbh, what I really dislike about the shooter games is that only BFN got a Switch port. Switch players be damned if they wanna play the OG shooters - Garden Warfare 1 and 2. Make of that what you will.
I think a garden warfare 3 is only remotely necessary because GW2 isn't looked after anymore. I think that a simple remaster/overhaul of Gw2 would be a better option than a fully fledged sequel though. Little quality of life changes, some bug fixes and adding the town hall portal game modes like capture the taco, boss hunt and cats v dinos to online play permanently would go a long way in keeping GW2 going in my onion, not that I think any of that would ever happen
@@Antbrat4.0 No shit, I’ve left other comments when this came out. I’m talking about the possible franchise support that this video has no way of knowing about since it came out a month ago.
This is how I would make GW3 or BFN 2 if Given the oppertunity and funding from the mr krabs of gaming to be their spongebob and actually make the games fun. I would take the best qualities of bfn like pve, loadouts, cosmetics and emotes with the best qualities' of GW2 like variety of weapons, abilities, gamemodes etc and put them into a blender that is like a mix of tf2 and overwatch with both teams having the same number of classes being around 12 which would be a good number. Make sure that both plant classes and zombie classes are similar in power to the point it can go either way instead of a class from plants being a direct upgrade from the zombie equivalent like regular kernel corn just being a better foot soldier not talking about variants or dead beard being a better sniper than cactus in bfn. there will be classes will be unique on each side like chomper and SB but those will only be like around two or three outliners on each side. Instead of having variants there will be mutations on the plant's side and weapons on the zombie side like TF2 unlocks IE the peashooter getting a weapon like the soldier's direct hit where his explosive peas can oneshot a scientist at a direct hit with the draw back of having no splash damage while also having a weapon that's the opposite being far less effective at direct hits but having high splash damage to make it an Imp's worst nightmare. ideas for new classes would be one based on fume shroom that can be a tank with the pyro's airblast being able to reflect zpgs back at soilders and getting the grave digger finally as a class that can summon ai zombies and has a shotgun to keep plants at bay. Start a beta that lasts longer than bfn in order to iron out game mechanics and take creator feedback seriously like not repeating the lack of damage dropoff and the hit detection problems bfn had until its last update which took them a year to fix. Another thing I would do is revamp other classes to better fit their roles kinda like what bfn did but more refined like Peashooter having more hp because he was on his winter arc and hit the gym and only having his clip be halved for more devastating damage that is twice as powerful as his original primary damage where he can actually rocket jump with his peas which with Pea spud would basically make him fly with the cost of ammo and an abillity alternative to the bean bomb that is like scientist's sticky grenades that can also be detonated by pressing the aim key which can also be used to launch enemies and himself into the air making him a hybrid between soldier and demoman. And if the soldier has to be the peashooter's counterpart then have him ditch his old gun by just having the ZPG as his primary of course it will deal less damage than gw2 and bfn unless if you use an abillity or make 80's the peashooter equivalent by giving him a rocket launcher which would fit him far more than the crossbow. Will be expanding if replied.
Bruhh ppl on pvz's insta comment section would always comment abt gw3 and when they will get it like "gw3 when" and such in ANY post. Its just straight up annoying💔
I think they could add a few more to balance some of the classes. They could also not bring torchwood back and the goat. think instead of expanding on variants and stuff. They could try and expand on some other elements. An actual story mode, yk with cutscenes and stuff. PVZ got some crazy lore and theres comics too which has been used in PVZ 3 kinda. This can be good honestly. I heard the first one and I liked it but that was when I was a kid. I did heard good things about the later ones tho. This could be like a conclusion to this series when we take back suburbia and make peace with the zombies or something like in PVZ 1. More maps and objectives are always fun and they could make them more interactive too. Nothing here to say other than that. One thing that could spice things up is adding the characters from PVZ heroes but not everyone can play them in a single game. players can support a hero in combat in multiplayer or something. Overall, I do think a third game can suffer with what you talked about but the old devs could probably think outside the box. PVZ being an shooter game still gets to me some days like damn.
the whole no variants thing is really ridiculous Imo , there is plenty that can be added and it wouldn't,t be bloat it would be exactly what bfn if it was actually gw3 should have done which is adding the rest of the elements to the classes that don't have them electric soldier, fire citron electric rose and so on
My thoughts are, remove the special characters from gw2 to 3, keep the original 8 classes the size they are in 2, maybe adding party variants to them at most, expand the 6 original “new” classes to have a couple more variants, remove hovergoat and touchwood, add in new characters with at most 4 variants, we’ll just say that the bfn campaigns are gonna be the gw3 campaigns, and that the hub world would still be giddy park, when they added the wizard and swarm characters that would be like hovergoat and touchwood where they don’t have variants and only have costumes. The reason people didn’t like bfn was beca they had higher hopes and they were met with an entirely new game without any of the char they loved and/or hated but instead they had 6 new characters that were all insanely strong and unbalanced with the woes being nightcap, absolutely destroying anyone in the beta due to now projectile drop or damage falloff, resulting in many people dropping the game
The thing for me with bfn is that it looks so childish and cheap, the designs are cool but the textures are like plastic, some drawings and sounds are like from a 2005 flash game, and the maps are so boring and unoriginal, also the sprint it's so uncomfortable to me, its like so bouncy and it doesn't fit the game, the people keeps running away from the battles. If they just make GW2 and keep adding characters and maps would be perfect, it should keep that realistic graphics with that dark bizarre 80s vibes
the problem is that popcap/ea pour all of their money and supplies into creating another game when you don’t need to, just build off of or update pvz games like gw2 bc of how popular it became. if gw2 still got updates to this day it would have been a trending game for sure. but you cant jusy make a game and not update it expecting people to keep playing it i think thats the main problem of this franchise
I think they should make a MK type fighting game but with the PVZ characters I feel like that would be really cool or a smash bros type game but with PVZ
Also before I get comments about it, yes I'm now aware I messed up explaining the "BFN is technically GW3" bit. It was a test name before things really got changed, I apologize for the confusion
And one last edit just because I kinda expected this, please remember that what we’re talking about here is a hypothetical follow-up to a game centered around shooting Plants and Zombies with pellets and peas. I see some of the comments and have deleted a few, if you’re getting obscenely nasty with your replies I’m not engaging. Be so real, it’s childish to hate enough to threaten over a series like this :)

Honestly if they were to add more variants they would have to add a new way of attacking/gimmick like with gw2 adding manual detonation.
my biggest problem with bfn was that it felt like they took what was meant to be a silly take on shooter games, and tried to make it an esport.
It was meant to be single player, EA and the fans forced popcap to make it multiplayer.
@@truegamer7760 I think I would be even more disappointed if it was. Especially if people were still saying it was a Garden Warfare 3.

@@TroboTicTac No it wasn't, did you do any research at all.
Honestly, i'd say what we really need is a GW2 rerelease with maybe 1 or 2 more varients per class, balance tweaks, a couple new maps, a new way to get Unicorn Chomper but most importantly Crossplay, Cross Progression and a Competitive mode (I'd borrow TF2's highlander format)
GW2 is basically perfect, it's just outdated in some of it's online play structure.
GW2 Switch edition would make me scream, tbh. I loved when BFN got that treatment, but now I gotta see at least GW2 (now I'm thinking of bundling the two games together with GW2's artstyle, like all the maps from GW1 would return in this Switch edition for GW2)
is far from perfect
@@555tragokorto Well yes, but I mean in terms of what we want from this particular franchise
@@SylviaYSI They also haven't ported PvZ2 to consoles. That is also an easy way to make mountains of money.
Prize map suckedv
I think PopCap will come back to their golden age.
I feel like gw3 would just be am expansion to gw2 rather than an actual new game
I personally wouldn't mind if gw3 was just the same varients but as 2 but just more for the gw2 classes like have 10 corn variations like peashooter 10 imp varients etc maybe add party sunflower, all star and whatnot and maybe the bfn cast but thats probably all they could do for a gw3 other than new maps and modes.
Garden warfare 3 should have A LOT MORE MAPS than it originally had I want to double the maps across all of the game modes

I think also the very early release of bfn really hurt it in the long run,
If it was allowed to have more time to Develop longer it would’ve likely been a much more successful release overall to the greater public
Just having little content on release and through updates just didn’t help it’s case when garden warfare 2 just had so much of it already (arguably maybe you could count the very big art-style shift from GW2 to BFN making people not wanna play it)
the fact you have to pay 35,000 coins for ONE CUSTOMIZATION and the damn Rux microtransactiona
I agree with your statement since if GW3 is released today it'll be plagued with many problems plaguing the AAA industry (primarily live service games):
- Online-only (which means you cannot play the game without internet and also requires subscriptions just to play the game on consoles) and no single-player campaign.
- Variants will be added but several variants get removed from launch for no reason just to add back later (just my theory)
- "Release it now, fix it later" mentality allows EA to rush GW3, releasing it as a buggy unfinished game and fixing it later *cough* Battlefield 2042 *cough*
5:21 someone literally tried arguing with me before that starfruit is the worst plant in the game because it can't shoot straight forward

the thing about sequels is that they always have to stand out from the last game with their new features. they cant simply just have more content or characters or whatever. then there would be no reason to even have a sequel if the new content could snuggly fit in to the old game. gw2 already has so much stuff, and anything that people think could be in gw3 could just be more stuff to add to gw2. people look down on bfn but it honestly isnt a bad game. they thought how hard it would be to add new variants to the characters and how overwhelming it would be to some people. so they took a good approach and added upgrades you could customize the characters with, so now you can basically build your own variants with there being so many combinations.
I feel like the people working on the games back then would know how to go about a gw3 and avoid some of the pitfalls you brought up
Well said… I’ll make my own pvzgw3.
tbh, I'd kinda want them to return to BFN and improve that game and add back the scrapped new classes than a whole new game
I think variants could work if you just either give one extra to each character or give only the new classes variants
What id do is instead of making new variants get rid of the unpopular classes and replace with new
Change the legendaries from party to somthing else
Add new maps
Fix the chompers
Make new promtion rewards
GW2 updates is the thing (even if it is impossible), the game is ready, it's still expensive but it's the most realistic thing to happen to revive PVZ shooters. And about PVZ3, they are updating the game to put a Battle Pass, Almanac, Multiplayer content, more plants... What I'm trying to say is that they may cook with this game, even if it is bad now, maybe they are doing something, like these Supercell games that are pretty popular. PVZ3 is our only hope for the franchise, maybe it's time to criticize, but not hating.
if the Prequel (GW2) is ALREADY a masterpiece how could it's sequel not be??
looks at BFN: Ohh yeah...
The campaign was so good in bfn better than gw2’s campaign in my opinion
Quite unfortunate indeed. When designing a GW3, I always find myself coming back to BFN because of how many little changes it made that make the gameplay experience SO much better. GW2 may be the superior game, but you can't say that it doesn't have its BS at times lol.
realistically speaking imo, i think bfn was a good choice to stray away from the variants thing,
it did have potential to be even better than gw2, but due to the mismanagement of the staff, and the overall negative feedback from 2019 to present day, that wouldn’t be the case, and that just breaks me apart like a lego set.
The franchise wasn't getting stale it only had 2 games if the game was marketed better and distanced it self from the previous games it could have been good but bfn changed to much from the previous games
tbf the launch was diabolical, but again only because of the leaks
But oh wait, the whole debacle with popcap banning fangames on roblox

@@SylviaYSI I've heard of it before, but the last thing I heard from said project is that it was canceled. Thought I haven't seen an actual statement about it.
Personally I think the hero shooter hate started with MS:A which failed due to a bad plot despite having decent graphics and being mechanically good. People then were expecting a story game. Not a shooter.
Same deal with BFN people were expecting more garden warfare but we got something else.
Doesn't seem like people understand what spinoffs are.
Maybe instead of gw3 we just got more updates for gw2 like quality of life and maybe some more maps
Maybe if they remade alot of gw2 maps and added it to gw3
to be honest if they were to ever make a gw 3 they could just fuse the pvp aspect of gw 2 with the pve aspect of BFN and give all the new BFN characters variants in that game and be done with it, the thing that made gw 2 great is the huge hero roster that pretty much gives u a version of the character class that fits your playstyle with the only real issue for gw 2 being the lack of pve and co op content where as BFN was the opposite where the pve/co op was great but pvp aspect was greatly lacking compared to gw 2 due to the lack of variants despite the new classes so playing pvp in bfn got old and stale really quick where as the giant hero roster and fun crazy matches has been keeping gw 2 not only alive but thriving even though it's 8 years old, as it's 1 of those crazy whacky games you can hop on and enjoy like team fortress 2 and other games where it's non competitive craziness, it's 1 of the few shooter games that's family/child friendly, now i doubt we will ever get a gw 3 though but if it ever some how happens then i hope they do what i mentioned earlier and just fuse the pvp and variants from GW 2 and the pve aspect of bfn into a gw 3 and stick with whats tried and true instead of trying to change it since bfn removing character variants and pvz 3 both failing miserably made it obvious the fans want whats tried and true rather then something new that changes the gameplay up alot.
Gw1 maps + gw2 everything (including style, bfn is ugly) + bfn's better balance + it's characters + it's good side=perfect gw3. I think we don't need a brand new everything, we just need to mash up the good side of these three games.
Honestly I think Popcap should stay on and update GW2
I definitely hope that if in the unlikely scenario it does ever happen, GW3 doesnt erase all the good things BFN added, I love some of the characters added in that game.
As much as you give strong points there is the possibility that instead of all the characters getting more variants it’s just the ones that are lacking in some areas. Ex:imp getting new elemental variants.Theres also the possibility that instead we just get more continued support on gw2.
I think new updates for GW2 would be enough.
I have dreamed countless times about GW2 getting new updates, like new maps and balancing and game modes coming back
Yes!
GW2 is probably my favorite game of all time. What made it really special for me was unlocking all the characters and playing al of them
I truly believe that bfn was the last good PVZ game pop cap made, but its problem was that the marketing was nonexistent and the majority of its audience was unhappy with it.
I think continued to support to gw2 would have been really great in my opinion instead of a gw3🦅
I totally agree that GW3 won’t and shouldn’t happen, what should happen instead is finishing BFN

Honestly, if I were to wish a GW3 into existance... I would just wish for more of a GW ultimate kind of thing. Basically, make it a Switch port (like with what happened to BFN) and fuse GW1 and 2 together. Might sound strange, but hear me out:
What if we could play all the OG maps from GW1 in GW2, not just Wall-Nut Hills? What if GW2 had the sprinting mechanic like BFN? The possibilities for a Switch port are massive! (plus, I just wanna experience GW1&2 without having to get an Xbox)
Lets start talking about GW4
I just want GW3 to be like GW2. More variants if they add the characters from BFN, A better hub world
I think what I would've really wanted from a content update or a new game would be to have more maps for a sense of variety outside of the characters, including recreations of GW1 and GW2 maps with adjustments to the layout to let the new coming characters fit in the map. I remember the reason that the GW2 Characters weren't normally playable in Wall-Nut Hills because they would get stuck in certain parts of the map.
Though I do see how that concept would be quite ambitious for a new GW/PvZ Shooter game.
I would way rather see a gw2 update like a new town hall mode, character that sort of stuff and balance changes obviously
I think they should only add new variants for corn, citron, rose, nut, snapdragon and nightcap. Also bring back every map
I got this next to a video called "Lobster popsicle:
Garden warfare 3 would be the best game ever made if they made cat tail a playable class
When i say more variants i mean like mainly for the newer characters that are missing ones like toxic or frozen corn
I guarantee that BFN would have been way more successful if they just added variants. Imagine how cool it would be to have returning variants like plasma pea or the party characters mixed with whatever new variants they could have made for the new classes
Cold Snapdragon 🥶
Varients alone will not make the game better
@@Bun_bunny195 I mean they kind of would, since it allows for much more playable characters and the hype of unlocking new ones. They'd make the game _better_, but not guaranteed to be automatically good as a result
True but they'll be a nightmare to fight against because of BFN upgrade system especially for new players
@@Bun_bunny195the upgrade system is the replacement for the variants which is stupid. If there were variants to the game then there wouldn’t be this trash upgrade system and prestige would only go to master
I mean bfn got killed becous of not haveing character variants and wierd graphic style
So in gw3 for me they shoud bring it back
and i have idea for balance for exemple: bbq corn Burns every corn he shoots now i will add like Burn meter and enemy will get burned after 6 hit sounds balanced?
I've only ever hear people say the game is bad because of the former.
In a GW3 that uses BFN as a base for the newer roster of default characters for new variants would more realistically be like:
Snapdragon and Electric Slide would either become variants of a class or be removed entirely.
My ideas & concepts for a potential GW3:
* All game modes, characters (variants included), abilities, etc. from GW2 gets ported over
* New classes & their respective variants
* AI hero overhaul, including random ability loadouts & tweaks to AI behavior (where the AI heroes play more carefully at low HP)
* Ability rebalancing, to make "useless abilities" more practical to use
* Make the gnomes a more impactful faction in GW3's events & story mode
BFN is a pretty good game. That art style though… all the games in the GW series (and I am considering this game one) had this fairly gritty but goofy art style. The art style BFN is in is best described as “bubblegum”. You’ve probably heard that before, games like Overwatch or Fortnite have this very bright and plasticity look. It’s just not what we wanted, and don’t get me wrong the thing we got was pretty good. But when gaming news outlets and all the sorts told us of a Garden Warfare 3, we were not expecting this.
I loved BFNs single player sections. Relaunching the series as a co-op single player shooter would be a slam dunk now thsy everyone is sick of PVP.
It’s super unfortunate you’re probably right
Idgaf if it would be good or bad I’d prolly sink time into it
Tbh if I had a choice I would rather just have more new maps and a couple new characters in gw2 than a whole new gw3
an update with the classic maps and some balancing patches would be the correct way
Tbh cattail is KINDA balanceed w the high sun cost and only being placed on the pool
All the people who worked on gw2 are at dice and other places, so a lot of stuff would have been worse without all those people at popcap Vancouver being elsewhere
This isn't the popcap we once had as said
I think they should make GW3 a 3D fighting game like JJK Cursed Clash or All Star Battle
Little quality of life changes, some bug fixes and adding the town hall portal game modes like capture the taco, boss hunt and cats v dinos to online play permanently would go a long way in keeping GW2 going in my onion, not that I think any of that would ever happen
screw gw3, what i really want is bfn 2, i really want it to be given the second chance it deserves
I think the best possible future would just be a modern gw2 with all the best gw1 maps kinda like a combination of both games
Ea closed the Popcap Vancouver right after they cancelled Bfn.There will never be a Gw3 sadly.

Bro sounds like MatPat
We all know GW3 wouldn't be good. PopCap and EA makes lower quality stuff nowadays
Bruhh ppl on pvz's insta comment section would always comment abt gw3 and when they will get it like "gw3 when" and such in ANY post. Its just straight up annoying💔
This is also including the fact the shooter game team have been broken up and will never return;; all is tragic
PVZ being an shooter game still gets to me some days like damn.
the whole no variants thing is really ridiculous Imo , there is plenty that can be added and it wouldn't,t be bloat it would be exactly what bfn if it was actually gw3 should have done which is adding the rest of the elements to the classes that don't have them electric soldier, fire citron electric rose and so on
I would take the bas characters from gw2 and bfn give them 5 to 8 new variants and have non of the old ones return
Is it bad that I prefer garden warfare 1 because of nostalgia?
Heartbreaking loss of beloved child (gw)
I just want a new shooter in general, even IF it's not gonna be Garden Warfare 3.
This video only makes me wonder if PvZ GW2 was a mistake (if it should be a DLC for PvZ GW1 instead of its own game)
Damn you EA, you ruin everything
0:00 goofy ass laugh
the problem is that popcap/ea pour all of their money and supplies into creating another game when you don’t need to, just build off of or update pvz games like gw2 bc of how popular it became. if gw2 still got updates to this day it would have been a trending game for sure. but you cant jusy make a game and not update it expecting people to keep playing it i think thats the main problem of this franchise
Why I like it because it’s pvz but it’s a shooter.
but can go in multiple ways when it releases
1.balancing crisis
2.terrible anti cheat like tf2
3.p2w
4.very rushed and a buggy mess
@@hadijahabutazil9132 agree, but it will NOT BE PAY 2 WIN, okay maybe a little, but the first game was pretty much fine
I think they should make a MK type fighting game but with the PVZ characters I feel like that would be really cool or a smash bros type game but with PVZ
