Thank you for posting this I have been cosplaying for a few months now and have always struggled to get my hair in a wig cap and when I do there is always a bump somewhere that just looks awkward before I found this I was literally considering cutting my hair because I was tired of struggling so thank you because doing it this way I get to keep my long hair and still wear cosplay wigs
I am not a cosplayer, but I want to start cosplaying, and no matter what, there was always a bulge in my bald cap. I considered cutting my hair too, until I found this video.
Just so you know, your video is still helping beginning cosplayers even eight years later!!! I've cosplayed and worn wigs before, but never with my long and thick hair I have now. Thank you so much!!! If you want a picture of my first cosplay in literally ten years, let me know!! You deserve a photo of the success you helped create ❤❤
This really helped! I'm in a theater production playing a much older character - I have waist length thick red hair so of course I have to wear a wig. This method is quick, simple, and doesn't require too many pins. Thank you!
Thank you. I'm unable to French braid my own hair. I tried doing the two regular, low, braids, and pinning those up. But each braid is so thick, that it just looked bumpy all over. It worked out under my pink Shuna wig (from "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime"). I recently got a Nezuko wig, did a test wear using the pigtail braids criss-crossed and pinned method, but it felt quite bumpy. I shall give this method a shot. Liking the idea of being able to evenly distribute the hair under the wig cap on my head.
Thank you so much for this…I have thick long hair too and I’m so sick of having to keep my cloak on to hide my ponytail running down my back because I can’t get my wig to look right🤘**THANK YOU**
Tysm, I really needed this bc I have thick, but not very long hair. I’ve been cosplaying for about a month and a half now and always struggled to put my hair up bc I didn’t know what type of style to use and couldn’t put a wig cap on bc there’s always a bump on the back of my head. I, ofc wore a wig and a wig cap before but I always had my mom do it whenever I wore wig for Halloween when I was younger. I wasn’t really taught at how to put on a wig or a wig cap correctly. *Ty for this video, I really needed it =)*
tHANK YOU! i’m going to be ariel for halloween this year and all i could find was the braid thing but my braids are HUGE and make giant bumps on my head, not gonna work at all, i haven’t tried it yet but i know this will work PERFECTLY for my hair 🙌🏼🙌🏼 i’ve been stressing a little about it, so thank youuuuu !
Thank you for the help. I’ve struggled getting wig caps on because of my thick long hair. This really helped. I’m cosplaying Yuno Gasai and Junko Enoshima!!!!
YES ty for this. I have hair just like yours. My Italian and Irish blood gave me a wild mop. I was still putting in two low braids, crossing them at the back of my head and pinning them to hell and back, then adding a wig cap. I had a Hatsuni wig that came with something but ended up not liking it so I never got into the better techniques. My husband got a beautiful one for me at Christmas for my streams. Gunna wear it live for the first time today and i wanna make sure it looks good. Its a really pretty wavy long purple one ^.^
OML ive been looking for a video like this, i found other videos but those people dont even have thick hair like mine and you do! So i clicked on this video bc im going to start cosplaying so thanks!
Ughhh I have three feet of thick curly biracial hair and I managed to get it to look as your hair does in that wig cap but the wig still didnt fit. Can you give me any tips on what I should do please? Im so stuck and annoyed. Its every wig i ever wear
I would suggest straightening your hair first and maybe adding a second nylon cap. I hope that helps a little bit! Just mess around with it and see what works for you =)
I'm Jamaican and Afican American so my hair is extremely thick. Sometimes I even wear braid extensions and am still able to put it under wigs. Sometimes too much flat ironing can lead to damage just to keep your hair tucked up under a cap. What I do is braid four cornrows straight back and In between, I bring the ends of the cornrows up and snuggle them in between the cornrows. Pin them down then begin the 2 cap process. This should work out better for you! No bumps :)
Bittersweet ! A mood. Every time I try to put my hair up in a wig it bulks so bad and looks like I have an egg shaped alien head in the back! Ugh. The curls make it worse too lol. I'm hoping to save money for some proper stuff, and maybe a proper wig will help too.
This is basically what I would do, but I secured it a little better. I separated it in half just as demonstrated. Then I used giant barettes on each side to clamp it down to my head all over so it wouldn't move or slide. then I put a wig cap over that whole thing.
OMFG!!! YOU’RE THE FREAKING BEST!!!! I NEEDED THIS SO MUCHHHH. I’m cosplaying ladybug and my male “best friend”(friend with benefits ig u could say 🤪)is gonna be chat noir but, I’m waiting on my colored contacts and I had NO IDEA how to put a wig cap on my annoyingly thick hair! You are the best! New subscriber for sure!❤️
ack thanks- ive been seriously thinking about just giving up on cosplaying, because i have long curly/wavy hair and it just makes my wig sit too high- i was actually thinking about cutting it, which i really don’t want to do- i’m hoping this helps
Thank you! I recently got a Cure Happy (Precure) wig and with my hair being long and thick I wasn't sure on the best way to go about this :> this is helpful!
This helps but my mum wants me to cut my hair so either way with hair cut a little it will be easier she won’t let me get it short though so this really helps me
Thank you this helps me so much because I recently started using wigs for cosplays and I have curly and thick hair which this video helps me try to figure out how to properly put a wigs cap on
omg thank you i decided to choose to cosplay monika which meant i had to learn how to tie the hair in ponytail to create the pulled back look on the longer attachable one and also because the wig comes with the sideburns and the bottom of the hair folding, you can see the wig grip sometimes but it takes me ages just to get it on right and it keep still falling, so i tightened the clips around my head and now it goes on my head but the back doesn’t move over the bump of hair 😭😭
luckily all my other wigs have either short hair in general, short hair with clip in ponies, or long hair that’s down so i’ve had it easy so far 😭😭 i’m going as monika for halloween and two days after i’m going to a con as madoka which is going to be so much easier to style and wear 😭😭
Thank you so much. It will be my first time going to comicon soon and my hair is very thick and it ends around the bottom of my ribs. Last time I put a wig on (I watched vids too) it told me to braid my hair and pin it up, that ended up with me having more volume than I wanted 😂 thanks again, you're really saving me from embarrassing myself.
Hi, I have the same problem (my hair's thick and goes halfway down my butt) but every thing i've tried always leaves it looking like my hear is really big in the back, and i end up feeling like my head's being squeezed too tight...any advice?
I always try to smooth out the hair lump in the back after I put the first cap on, before I put the second on. I mistakenly forgot to show that step in this video. But maybe try to spread the hair out evenly around the crown area of your head, so it's not a lump in the back? And perhaps your wig cap is too tight? Hopefully this can be of some help! Good luck!
my issue is with just how bulky it is in the back... nothing to you, it does the same for me. it makes short wigs fit strangely and all wigs slide around easily because it's hard for them to stay on with all the weight.
How hot does your head get? Are you able to wear the wig all day and be comfortable? Is a larger wig cap a better choice for thicker hair than the average size? I have thick hair like yours and am buying my first wig.
SecondHandJan It actually doesn't get any hotter than wearing one wig cap. Since you've never worn one before, expect a little discomfort. The heat actually isn't the issue I have. Sometimes the compression of the nylon cap squeezes the front of my hairline and gives me a headache, but I carry Advil on me for that reason. Sometimes if it happens and I know I have to keep the wig on, I will slide the second cap back on my head a little and pin it down under the wig. But that's really the only issue I have found. Good luck! I hope this helps ^_^
My hair isn't super long, but it's very thick and because of this when I have a wig or helmet on, I tend to get very bad headaches, so I'm hoping that putting my hair up this way will really help.
I've been wanting to wear a wig but I have long thick hair. This video calmed my nerves. Where do you get your wigs? I want a silver one but I'm so confused. I saw a few on wish and Amazon that I like.
Kaitlyn Schepisi my two favorite places to get wigs are Arda and Epic Cosplay. There are plenty of sites, but those two seem to be the most consistent and reliable. With sites like wish and Amazon you never really know what you might get. It could be great, it could be Halloween store quality. I would just make sure it has good reviews and go from there! Good luck!
I feel like this video is under appreciated. No nonsense, no chitchat, to the point. Thank you.

So glad I could help!
Yes! Exactly! I've been having the same struggles, because I have both long and thick hair and there are always lumps, but this hack really helps!
I am not a cosplayer, but I want to start cosplaying, and no matter what, there was always a bulge in my bald cap. I considered cutting my hair too, until I found this video.
@@SamanthaFlynnCosplay When you say you put the bobby pin upside down, do you mean that the wavy side is up?
Just so you know, your video is still helping beginning cosplayers even eight years later!!! I've cosplayed and worn wigs before, but never with my long and thick hair I have now.

How do you get the bulge out of the back of your hair in the wig cap. I am having that problem. >.
I'm having the same issue
same problem :(
Same for me!
It is the DOUBLE wig cap that is keeping her hair in. With virgin hair, braid it. With her type hair, follow the twisting, etc.
You don't, she had a big bulge herself, people won't notice it like you do trust me
:D!!!! Thanks! I’m cosplaying Erwin Smith from Attack On Titan and I have the most thicc hair! This really helped!
Jeffrey Salad yay!! Good luck and have fun!

IK this video is 8 years old but still thank you for posting it. I thought up until now I wouldn’t be able to cosplay due to my hair
Thank you so much!!!
I want to know how do you keep my bangs after using the wig cap because my hair just ends up like a lose slik back ...
tysm!!! its a struggle
I'm gonna try this out! Hopefully it works for Long thick *Curly* hair- 😢
my issue is with just how bulky it is in the back... nothing to you, it does the same for me. it makes short wigs fit strangely and all wigs slide around easily because it's hard for them to stay on with all the weight.
Thank you!
My black net wig cap does not have two holes in it so I can’t do the headband step, what do I do about that?
Can that wig thing damage your roots?
I only have the black one, what do i do then? 😭 im too broke to buy the other one
Hey this was really helpful! Thank you!

THANK YOUUU
My hair is long and i needed this tutorial 😭😭
But i have a problem i only have one wig net/cap :(
Thanks so much
My hair isn't super long, but it's very thick and because of this when I have a wig or helmet on, I tend to get very bad headaches, so I'm hoping that putting my hair up this way will really help.
【Shizuka✿】 I hope so! make sure your hair is straight before hand, that should take some of the bulk away ^_^
I'll make sure to do that, thanks!
I have a very cheap made wig net so I’m not sure this will work but thanks for the tutorial😭👍
How do you put it on like a headband?? Mine cant do that
how do u keep it from falling off if ur jumping around or i mean let's be real what if ur freakin?
I have short but thick hair that goes to about my ears or so. What should i do?
I've been wanting to wear a wig but I have long thick hair. This video calmed my nerves. Where do you get your wigs? I want a silver one but I'm so confused. I saw a few on wish and Amazon that I like.
