Great review my friend 👍 I subscribed to you on Drone Therapy a few weeks ago. This doesn't look like too bad of a toy grade drone. I wish it had a little more distance. Thanks for sharing 👍
If you’re okay with the video quality and range here, then sure. This is a toy drone and not meant for anything serious. I think it’s a good first cheap drone to learn on.
I don’t know because I only had the 5Ghz version. You are correct that 2.4ghz has more range and penetration in general, but since this is still just a toy that has to connect to a wi-fi receiver in a phone - I wouldn’t expect any more than 100ft or so. And it can actually be much worse if you are flying anywhere that 2.4 ghz networks are around you.
These are honestly pretty much the same with respect to what you can actually use them for realistically. At the end of the day both are great platforms for just learning how to fly on something inexpensive. If you don’t mind waiting on shipping times and the price is lower, get the eachine. Otherwise get the snaptain.
Hey awesome video! I’ve been trying to figure out how to pan my camera up and down.. the control panel on my phone doesn’t have the same “up and down” looking function on the lower right of your phone screen. If you could help that’d be awesome. Thanks!
Good question, I would say no you cannot put the Polaroid cube + on this and have a good experience. This drone has brushed motors, and will not be able to lift much weight. Polaroid cube weight is 45 grams, this seems small but it's significant weight to add to this drone. Sorry! :(
It is not true 4K, at 5:12 I posted the file metadata -- none of these drones ever really do 'true 4k', since they are toys and it's just a marketing gimmick.
So, with brushed motors it’s tough because they have a more limited life. Some will run for a very long time, and that will also depend on what kind of abuse the motors had if any during their run time. It’s so important to disarm/stop any quad that’s stuck somewhere, because that seriously jams brushed motors and kills them. The best I can tell you is that I gifted this to my neighbor and his grandkids, and they are still flying it! I’m guessing it has far more than 20 flights on it at this point. But if you never want to deal with dead motors from usage, go brushless.

"video is ok for what it is". Four years later it's still hard to find a cheapish drone which can match the video quality (and SD card slot for DVR) of Eachine E520S.
@@coldspring22 You’re right. It’s kind of weird that this price range hit a wall and hasn’t gotten much better. Also having an SD card on a toy grade quad seems to have somehow become a more “premium” feature, I noticed so many of them now do not come with a card slot!

What file format are they in? .mov or .mp4? I have Windows 10 - the only other thing I can think of is something corrupt on the sd card. Did you stop the video before pulling the battery from the drone? If not, this can cause the video files to become corrupt.
@@JohnCuppi its .mp4 when battery was low, I land the drone turn it off and took the sd card out. There's no way to stop the video from the drone. Tell me.
I believe this is a tad larger than the E58. It's a brushed quadcopter, so fast is subjective but the speed is okay. Motors seem to have some pretty good torque for brushed, it held in the wind that day pretty well.
To avoid propellers in the video there are two options: a) lower the camera angle before flying until you don’t see them, or b) crop the video in post production.
The 2.4g wifi version is for older phones that may not have 5.8 ghz wifi available to them. And, honestly? I think if you went 1080p it's not going to matter much at all, the video you take from this is not intended to be used for anything but causal video anyway. Save the $8 and get the 1080p version.
@@JohnCuppi okay so i tried in different place and signal was good so i guess it worked but i was flying drone and when he was at 20% he suddenly turned "return to home" by itself and battery dropped to 2% in matter of seconds, he went 5 meters in the air, flip over and fell on grass, there was smoke coming out of it and idk if this were the motors burning or the battery. Anyway thanks for your advice but i think he's not gonna fly anytime soon 😬
This has no stabilization. At this price point of $60 to $70, it just isn't really feasible at the moment. Google can explain brushless vs brushed motors best, but basically brushless motors are more powerful, longer lasting, and more energy efficient. They are also more expensive, which is why budget drones like this one do not have them.
You need a phone that can connect to 5Ghz wifi connections -- not '5G' cellular service. Most phones made since 2015 can connect to 5Ghz wifi. Hope this helps.
GPS doesn't cost you anything extra on this one. But, y'know it depends on what you want to do. You're definitely not going to be making any production grade video with this (obviously), but if your intention is to upgrade to a DJI Mavic Air 2, or similar GPS camera bird in the future, this will give you a flight experience with gps that you don't have to worry too much about crashing and/or breaking it. I started on a toy grade quad like this for $80 without any altitude hold, stabilization, nothing, because 5 years ago they didn't have such things. And that was pretty hard. This is easy to get flying.
There is no stabilization in the videos! If the video is not smooth then i dont know for which reason we should buy it! After all we are not kids to play with toys
What do you expect? If you want a drone with stabilized video you should check out the bugs 20 EIS but it will cost you. This is a toy. Made for kids or adults who just want to have fun flying, learning to fly, and capturing some video for shits and giggles. You don't want toy grade video? Pay up!
This has honestly gotten way more expensive this year. You used to be able to get deals on this one to buy it for around $60 or so and now the absolute best price is like $85.

pipe dream team It’s very possible that the app for Android is not good or has a recording issue. In the worst case scenario however the controller has a button on it that you can press to start a recording independently of the app, so that’s something to keep in mind as well. Thanks for the feedback.
pipe dream team I also think a lot of these drones have a tendency to confuse people though. They have to connect to some random WiFi network and fiddle around with that to get it started, and if you get disconnected for any reason such as reconnecting to one’s own hole WiFi then it “freezes.” The phone will always naturally try to latch on to the strongest WiFi signal it’s permitted to nearby. If you’re gonna fly a good distance from home with this need to temporarily forget the home WiFi connector for sure. In a wide open field where I tested it, or at a park, it’s a non issue.

To avoid propellers in the video there are two options: a) lower the camera angle before flying until you don’t see them, or b) crop the video in post production.
@@JohnCuppi thank you for the advices
Salut, c'est quoi l'application du drone s'il te plaît ?
How do I get my camera to switch on I have same drone??
There is no on/off switch for the camera, it should be on automatically out of the box. 🙂
nice review ...but oh my goodness that brushed motor scream !!
It’s the darn gears more than the motors actually! Thanks bill.
How long 100% -0% battery ?
Nice review🤓. Wow, you guys got close there with your neighbor. I wonder how long that drone would last landing like that🧐..lol 😆
Can you move the camera?
Yes, you can adjust the camera angle manually.
What is the 2.4G WiFi 4K HD option for
Also is the 1080p option much different from the 4K
The 2.4g wifi version is for older phones that may not have 5.8 ghz wifi available to them. And, honestly? I think if you went 1080p it's not going to matter much at all, the video you take from this is not intended to be used for anything but causal video anyway. Save the $8 and get the 1080p version.
John Cuppi thank you, much appreciated
Damm i don't know why but when I connect to the drone its always 0 satellite signal and i don't know what to do (my gps in phone is on)
Not sure why this would be happening either, have you tried in a different location?
@@JohnCuppi Hmm ima try tomorrow and tell how it went
@@JohnCuppi okay so i tried in different place and signal was good so i guess it worked but i was flying drone and when he was at 20% he suddenly turned "return to home" by itself and battery dropped to 2% in matter of seconds, he went 5 meters in the air, flip over and fell on grass, there was smoke coming out of it and idk if this were the motors burning or the battery. Anyway thanks for your advice but i think he's not gonna fly anytime soon 😬
No video stabilitization?
This has no stabilization. At this price point of $60 to $70, it just isn't really feasible at the moment. If you want something with stablization, the L109 Pro: bit.ly/3fX5qrt ... is pretty good looking from what I've seen so far. 2-axis gimbal and brushless GPS. Of course it costs I'm going to try to get that one in for review. (BGL109PRO makes the price $120)
Do have your own review of l109 pro?
@@JohnCuppi where u get this cheap price , on amazon is about 150 right now
@@noahark4670 It's far cheaper to buy it directly from China. The price has gone up to $80 unfortunately, but it is still almost half price compared to amazon as long as you're willing to wait 3 weeks shipping for it. www.banggood.com/Eachine-E520S-GPS-WIFI-FPV-With-4K-or-1080P-HD-Camera-16mins-Flight-Time-Foldable-RC-Drone-Quadcopter-p-1533013.html?akmClientCountry=America&cur_warehouse=CN&p=G814221249561201502U&custlixnkid=877802&ID=2245633536266206531930
I'd like to get it just to use the body to put my own parts in
better just stick to drone parts.
Whqt are brushless motors
Google can explain brushless vs brushed motors best, but basically brushless motors are more powerful, longer lasting, and more energy efficient. They are also more expensive, which is why budget drones like this one do not have them.
Do I have to have a 5g phone for this?
You need a phone that can connect to 5Ghz wifi connections -- not '5G' cellular service. Most phones made since 2015 can connect to 5Ghz wifi. Hope this helps.
How much is the weight of the drone?
Flying Weight: 248g (with Battery)
What is flying time and battery mah
About 10 to 12 minutes. Battery information is in the product link along with other specifications.
was this video 1080 60fps ? so much stutter
The video from the head cam is 60fps, the drone video is only 20fps.
@@JohnCuppi so drone camera supports only 4k20fps ? no 1080 60fps?
I wish I had that kind off drone hope you sponsor me
Sorry, I don’t have this drone anymore. I gave it to a kid last year.
Que tipo de micro sd acepta?
32GB

Is it worth getting it with GPS?
GPS doesn't cost you anything extra on this one. But, y'know it depends on what you want to do. You're definitely not going to be making any production grade video with this (obviously), but if your intention is to upgrade to a DJI Mavic Air 2, or similar GPS camera bird in the future, this will give you a flight experience with gps that you don't have to worry too much about crashing and/or breaking it. I started on a toy grade quad like this for $80 without any altitude hold, stabilization, nothing, because 5 years ago they didn't have such things. And that was pretty hard. This is easy to get flying.
Oh hell yeah >:0
🤣😂🤣😂That was some fast and hard landing. 😂🤣😂
Lmao! Thanks ray.
That is good flycam
This one isn't bad at all. No jello and decent range. Camera isn't bad though looks a bit drab. Reminds me of 1969's Polaroids. Lol
A little jello -- non-stablized but not gonna get that at an $80 price point lol.
@@JohnCuppi definitely
So you actually see the drone propellers on the video 100% of time? What the F? :-D
At a lower camera angle they don’t appear.
Pay up!
It's no Evo 2 for sure 😜
🤣 good one
If the price is right this would be good for a small kid to play with. I wouldn't pay over 50 bucks for it. I also wouldn't use this thing ever.
This has honestly gotten way more expensive this year. You used to be able to get deals on this one to buy it for around $60 or so and now the absolute best price is like $85.
For a toy grade it doesn't seem to bad.
Liked and sub'd
Thanks for the support! 👍
are you trying to prove the earth is flat..
No, you can clearly see the round shape of the earth that this drone can amazingly capture at 2:22 🤣
That's the fisheye lense
👍✈️😊😆
👍
John Cuppi hope you’re well and staying safe my friend. Please keep sharing your flights, reviews etc. Glad you can still get out. No joy here in the UK 🇬🇧, luckily I have stock footage I can still use and post to my channel! ✈️😊👍
@@Georgewrigley Yeah I am, thanks for the well wishes, I live in the middle of america which has not been hard hit by the virus. I'm probably being more careful than most people in my area, actually, from what I've seen. It would be nice if our local parks would open up again but at least I can walk outside my back yard area and fly the field here. Thanks again BigG, see you around. 👍
John Cuppi cool mate. Best wishes and regards ✈️😊👍
How much..omg no..😐
The prices of the toygrades has gone up a bit recently, don't know why. I think I like the GPS Visuo XS812 better than this one actually, but they want around $100 for that one now too.
@@JohnCuppi no way man
@@abitofeverything2254 Ah I'm an idiot! I had the link to the one with 3 batteries. It's $83 from CN with 1 battery. That's about what I paid for a Syma X5C 5 years ago. Thanks for the comment Tom!
0.4 k
And that's exactly why I didn't put '4K' in the title or the thumbnail. You can see the bitrate settings and resolution at the end. 10Mbit at 20fps, 1440p.
😅
@@JohnCuppi The video looked decent for a toy quad
Why is this getting such terrible reviews on the app store?
I see 2 written reviews -- one of them says that they flew their "new 511S" and that it froze up at 50m. That's not even the same drone so I have no idea what that's all about. Another complaint says it won't connect to the app. It worked great for me on iOS with the E520S.
@@JohnCuppi ah well on the Google play store it a lot of reviews are bad saying the recoding doesn't work and it won't even start. But if it works for you, I'll consider buying it
pipe dream team It’s very possible that the app for Android is not good or has a recording issue.
