Wow in the uk it would be tagged and discussed with permission. If not granted gas company called and gas cut off. We are not allowed to leave the site till handed over to gas company. Then there would be cost to reconnect the gas so in all the 45 yeas I have been doing gas work, permission is given and the unit is put in correctly.

I understand the "not being allowed to turn off" but just looking at it, looks like a liability to fix it. The smoke pipe is a fire hazard and potential for co poisoning. I may have missed part of the video but is the vapor sensor in a bag. The general public is generally ignorant. As the licensed professional we are the ones responsible before we walk out the door that it is safe. I would have said, we make it all right or have a nice day.

Yes, I meant a natural gas outdoor pool heater that was installed in a basement closet and had ignition failure because it was choking on its own exhaust gases

Your statement you made about the Raypak Avia heater being an outdoor only unit is incorrect. I am a professional pool/spa service technition with 41 years of experience servicing commercial pools and spas. I am also a Raypak service warranty station. In the manual are instructions on installing that heater indoors. You remove the cover off of the exhaust and connect your flue piping to it to vent to the outside. In addition the Avia also comes with a knockout to pipe fresh outside air into the heater. All pool/spa heaters regardless of the manufacturer, Raypak, Jandy, Hayward etc can be installed indoors. They may require the purchase of a conversion kit to do so.
Watch the @DCHVAC video and you will see they did not purchase the kit to install indoors. That is what I think Mikey Pipes is trying to get at, dont install an outdoor designed heater inside unless it is designed and has proper venting.

Thank you so much for posting your detailed comment for your information. We are also a authorized service provider for Rheem and Raypak. The unit was installed that indoor venting kit in a closet with a door closed and the reason for ignition failure has because it was sucking in its own deadly exhaust gases for combustion go figure, thank you for supporting the channel and I look forward to future feedback from you
