5:05 - Lady says she came up with encapsulated texture and blue colored sunscreen and says the world has not seen such a thing, tags it as innovation. Woah, such a mind blowing and groundbreaking product. Lol The value add she often speaks about for this product is just packaging. On the bright side, seems to be a founder who is very hands-on and actually knowledgable about the industry she's in - side eyeing celebs who rushed on the beauty industry just because they saw Kylie Jenner on Forbes with her self made billionaire status (Which in itself is fraudulent). This one Identifies a market gap, goes about solving it, is practical and yet wants to deliver the best for the customer. Not a money grabbing kind of venture but one that was started with the perfect balance of overhead costs frugality mixed with keeping the customer in mind to give them the premium product they deserve.
I think this was an extremely intelligent conversation and I could just tell Shamika has a great grasp on her company. Very insightful! I hope we get more of her!
An insightful podcast considering the premium skincare market category. Specifically three approaches were rebellious- 1. Investing 16-18 months initially in R & D while having bootstrapped finance structure. 2. Starting with smart social media content to focus on small but engaging audiences. 3. Focusing on 1 SKU at a time. Courageous take by Shamika! Just one factual disagreement, 15:15 "Go green & Go organic is not scientific." Yes, It is scientific.
I enjoyed the conversation, but it felt a bit too surface-level. I wish the host had asked deeper, more insightful questions to really dive into the subject. That said, I find it frustrating when people in India discourage others from launching their own brands, as if there’s not enough room for everyone. This scarcity mindset doesn’t make sense. India has a large enough population to support many brands, as long as they offer genuine value and aren’t misleading consumers. Look at the U.S., where there are thousands of successful brands despite the competition. When people talk about taking only a 15-20% margin, they often overlook the sheer number of buyers that make those profits significant. As a brand owner myself, I understand how this works. If you have a dream to start a skincare brand or any business, trust yourself and don’t let others hold you back.
Hello, i really appreciate your take on this. However I'm also interested in launching my own skincare brand on pigmentation products because I'm not able to find anything that has helped me or suited me so far. How much capital do u think is required for me to do this considering my products would be in premium line
@@Arshikaanwar Hey Arshika, no one can predict or answer this question because it depends a lot on various factors. However, I would say focus on one skincare product first and then slowly as your brand evolve then start creating whole product line. If you start thinking about product line first then it will be huge but creating one product will also help to determine the market response. Wishing you all the best!
Totally - there's that scarcity mindset, especially for those first-generation business owners from a non-entrepreneurial background. Still, one has to block out the outside noise and not take advice or opinions from people who haven't achieved what they want to achieve. It's projection and understandable fears, but the market is huge. If the business provides value and solves a problem, competition shouldn't be an issue. Given the huge demand, there's enough room for everyone to grow in what they want to succeed in-granted, it all boils down to mindset, perseverance, and a little bit of luck too.
For the first time I liked a founder's approach. She honesty told everything that too without any foolishness.
I wish the podcast was little more longer. Shamika carries such an impressive knowledge about her industry, would absolutely love to hear her more
