What a legend. I've worked for a Ford dealership and a Mercedes Dealer as a tech as well as been working on cars for years before and after and I don't know if I could have diagnosed that and installed parts in 2 hours. That was impressive
Super knowledgeable? These were backyard mechanic diagnosis. The fact he thought a 12V battery should be putting out alternator level voltage is concerning to even the most entry level mechanic.
I'm a young mechanic barely getting into it about 5 years ago when I made it my mission to get my grandpa's 1982 f100 running after he passed away. It hurt me watching rot on the driveway so I decided to watch RUclips videos and get ford literature to look at. It brings joy hearing that engine crank and try to run in fact I have that feeling in my throat like crying while writing this comment because it reminds me of when I finally got my grandpa's truck to run after such a long time. Going from very little knowledge to knowing as much as I know now is proof that you can learn so much from just jumping into working on a project vehicle. Working with your hands and having that drive to get something done.
This might be my favorite series Donut has ever done tbh. Super informative, super entertaining, and we get all of the hosts together in one video. Each guest has been pretty cool too. I especially liked Aaron in this one. 👍
I can work on new engines but carb stuff confuses the heck out of me. I've learned more in this video than I ever knew. One of the best series you guys have honestly.
You fellas just taught the masses the basics of anything carb related. In 16 minutes. Cheers to you and for teachin me a couple pro troubleshooting ignition tips!
This really interesting because I had the exact same truck when I was in the army. Except it was in really rough shape and I was on a really tight budget. I got it for 300 bucks and spent a summer getting it runnig right.
For that fuel rod, take some grease and put it on both ends. It helps lube the fuel pump and the grease will hold it in place when you push it into the block so it doesn't fall down
Or you can just put a new synchronizer on each double lopsided gearpair, and new ball bearings on the exhaust fans. Optionally the fuel pipes needs to be redirected to the toprad via the engine block directly to the alphatronic!
@@anderstermansen130 Be careful about joking around.....I used to joke about muffler bearings or blinker fluid for my 79 C20 (I could have easily got this truck going with less work jumping the distributor to the battery and jumping the starter if needed) and now my 2020 2500hd takes exhaust fluid. Who ever thought exhaust fluid would be a thing?

I’ve watched a few of these and this one of few I’d be confident in fixing. I grew up working on these and have done almost everything there is to do on one of these trucks. Like that push rod for the pump, take the dipstick and bend the end a lil and push it up then there’s a short bolt on the front of the block if you take it out you can put a longer bolt in to hold the rod up. Just make sure you put the short bolt back in or the rod will get stuck down. I love watching these.
@@lvr1028 good point. And it wouldn't be very fun watching a video of 2 hours worth of head gasket repair just to see them not get a car at the end chasing gremlins. I think taking 10 minutes off for a bad part is perfect. You could waste literal weeks doing that in real scenarios
nahh that would take longer for them to install in some cases and they don't have time to take everything out to check it well so taking time off is probably a better way to do it when you are trying to create a youtube video
I'm really enjoying these videos! For an automotive fan who really hasn't had much if any experience directly working on cars, I'm learning a lot from the way each problem is explained. Keep it up Donut!

I'm not a mechanic though. Only work on personal stuff and close family and friends. Good job Aaron. Nice truck
I just discovered this channel. Fantastic video! I liked how they sabotaged that ground. Ground wires can really screw you over. Even if they APPEAR to be alright, check them. One way to test a new tech on basic ground testing that I always did to my apprentices, was to wrap tape around the ground post on the battery and have them tell me why the car won't start. To really get them trying to think and not just assume stuff.
Guys this is an extremely effective way to teach people about cars, but in a way that doesn't feel like i'm learning. I own a car, but i'm 17 and new to cars and i'm learning a ton just by watching this series. I don't know why I felt to write this comment, just a super creative approach to something and it works.

Such a great series! Keep em coming boys! I don't know shit about a car's mechanics but this is a great way to learn about the inner workings of what I'm driving to work everyday. No, not a C10 just a car in general. 😊
Small block Chevy has a bolt in the front of the block near the fuel pump. It was a left over from the previous pre 1955 motor mount design. You can pull that bolt out put your favorite flat head screwdriver in to hold the rod up putting in the new pump. Just make sure to throw a little silicone on a washer when you put that bolt in. Oil from the crank will leak out if you don’t.
For real I've been trying to find a daily work truck and they want 6k for a clapped rust bucket, they're about to drop in proce through because of gas prices
@@AndrewB23 that’s only really the case with things that aren’t classics because generally people don’t daily classics so the fuel prices don’t matter, if you do daily a classic I envy you as you are a crazy bastard.
This reminds me of being back in school. The instructors would “bug” cars kind of like this and have the students diagnose them. Stuff like the bad ground (bad connections) were a favorite, especially spread pins inside of connectors, because they would regularly trick people.
This was awesome - I’m not even a big car guy but I could watch this kind of material all day. Plus, learned a ton about engines in an interesting way! Great work
I’m a helicopter mechanic and can fix a Blackhawk but trying to transfer what I understand to cars honestly leaves my lost in the sauce, kudos to these guys
My dad is 72 and has owned one new vehicle in that time. A 72, Chevy C10 pickup he ordered custom from the factory. I know these boys inside and out from helping him work on it all these years. Still, 2 hours would be intense. Also my dad also sucks on fuel lines to test them haha. Not a big auto guy myself. But do love these pickups.
FYI there is a very short bolt in the front of the engine that covers a hole that a longer bolt will lock the pushrod up so fuel pump removal and installation is easy and you do not need to fight the pushrod. It's just below the freeze plug on the front of the motor right side.
Guy is dumb. But at least he got a new distributor cap and rotor when he didn't need them and they didn't take time off. The last thing they did was tell him what to connect so it would start.
The fact they were shocked when he sucked on the gas line threw me for a loop. I learned to do that so early on because it's easier than taking to time to get a hand pump
In case there’s an engine being an ass with fitting the pushrod during fuel pump replacement, it’s safe to use standard “palm size”- a glob of petroleum jelly to help hold it in place. Soon as engine starts it dissipates with heat and will not harm anything, just like it doesn’t harm your hand from the friction.
I don’t know much about engines or cars at all.. and neither do my parents so they didn’t have much car knowledge to pass down to me. But the amount I learn from your videos is incredible. Not to mention how entertaining and enjoyable all you guys are to watch. Thank you, Donut ❤️ absolute top notch content creators.

Now the tune is way off and I need to adjust my timing, but the new forged motor is purring. Easiest subscribe and like I made all year! Love the series - Keep them coming! A big Thanks to your crew!
Really liked Aaron, you guys should do something with him again. He has a really compatible personality
Look how nervous James was for Aaron at the end. He was so happy the truck started, that his face was literally red lol
I would be feeling the same way if I was in that situation.
Imagine how red his face would have been, if after he started the engine, the drive shaft would brake apart again like last episode.
Imagine Aaron's price for mechanic work just went up a good bit from this video! And another thing days at work with not much to do will go slow is molasses.when you got a deadline to meet time flies! so does the sweat and so does the temper!
Dude i love this new series, the learning part of it and finding ways to determine what’s wrong with it is the best part
Friggin love this series. It's the feel good cherry sitting on top of the number 1 feel good cake of RUclips. All involved with Donut Media should be very proud of themselves
What a legend. I've worked for a Ford dealership and a Mercedes Dealer as a tech as well as been working on cars for years before and after and I don't know if I could have diagnosed that and installed parts in 2 hours. That was impressive
8 am upload, wow what a great start to the day
Its 4 pm where im at, but i can stoll relate with you since i only just woke up
This guy is amazing. Hire him. Give him a series.
he didnt even know that a battery is full at 12.6 volts lol
@@roachwerks3043 i take it you've never worked in front of like 6 people with a time constraint
Be teaching us to drink gas and taste what fluid is leaking 😅😅😅
@@roachwerks3043
Neither did you.
@@higgy82 I mean I did tho. And I’m not saying this guy did bad but nobody is giving him his own show lol
Aron and donuts relationship brought a smile to my face
Donut, please never stop making this show! So fun to watch on Sunday mornings 😁

@@anderstermansen130 do you know that time zones exist?
PLEASE give Aaron a job with you guys! He is super knowledgeable and he meshes really well with you all.
everyone like this so it happens!!!!
The thing I like the most of this series beside the entertainment is the knowledge I'm learning watching these videos. Thank you Donut!
This might be my favorite series Donut has ever done tbh. Super informative, super entertaining, and we get all of the hosts together in one video. Each guest has been pretty cool too. I especially liked Aaron in this one. 👍
This really helped me help my mans start his car! Keep being great Donut 🙏🏽
I can work on new engines but carb stuff confuses the heck out of me. I've learned more in this video than I ever knew. One of the best series you guys have honestly.
I was the previous owner of this truck.. I was sad to see her go………… hope he enjoys her as much as we did…….
oh really?
Cap

You fellas just taught the masses the basics of anything carb related. In 16 minutes. Cheers to you and for teachin me a couple pro troubleshooting ignition tips!
yep, i finally learned about timing.
@@anderstermansen130 ah shit why didn't I think of that
@@anderstermansen130 Be careful about joking around.....I used to joke about muffler bearings or blinker fluid for my 79 C20 (I could have easily got this truck going with less work jumping the distributor to the battery and jumping the starter if needed) and now my 2020 2500hd takes exhaust fluid. Who ever thought exhaust fluid would be a thing?
I like this video so much, my son just started working on his grandfather's truck exactly like this truck. I sent my son this video so he can see it. Love watching your videos, keep up the good work.
Aaron has great chemistry with the guys, hire him
maybe these new videos are secret job interviews
Not everyone is for sale.
We don’t care about everyone we just wanna know about your sisters sale price.
bro i was just thinkibg this
6:32 To win this gas guzzler,....... he'll have to BECOME a gas guzzler.
(This is funnier if you imagine Will Arnett doing a melodramatic voiceover.)
I love how I didn’t know nothing about car a year a half ago and the fact that I can learn while the channel grows it’s awesome, because I am not a car guy but this channel makes me wish I was!!! I love this channel!! D-D-D-D-list
I love that y’all where ripping into him in the first half then helped him make it in the end. Y’all keep each video really dynamic and interesting to watch. Keep it up donut🤙
this guy felt like one of the host of donuts. the chemistry with mr mopower baby was insane. give this man a show about trucks.
Big respect to you guys for being helpful with the more frustrating parts, makes it feel more fair and not just like you’re picking on people 👍🏻
instead of taking time off if they request the wrong part, you should just give them the wrong part lol
Lol. That would be interesting but someone would ask for a part they don’t have. They only prepare for the parts they sabotage
I actually saw this truck yesterday. It looked pretty clean and I'm happy for Aaron fixing it and driving it home. Thanks for the video, and congrats Aaron!
I love this series. Apart from all the other videos this one has a challenge and a reward so it makes it more nerve wracking.
I dont work on these older cars, I'd of noticed the carb, but the fuel pump push rod would've done me in. I'd of had no clue that went there. I've always worked on cars with in tank pumps. I'm not a mechanic though. Only work on personal stuff and close family and friends. Good job Aaron. Nice truck
I think Donut is too nice to not stop someone from getting a car.
Honestly, they straight up told him what he missed at the very end lol
@@MarksterC Yeah but it wasn't the main issue to be fixed so I'll let it slide lol
I absolutely love this series, so great that you guys are able to give back to people. Just one of the many things that makes Donut what it is, props!
"Don't drink gas" should definitely be a t-shirt
But some Clorox drinking people could get offended, haha
Would love to be part of this series, even if I’ve never worked on a car before 😪
I wonder if they would make it easier if they knew some poeple know nothing about working on cars
Maybe 3 or 4 hours lol
tell them you're an
amateur car hobby guy
Shi i would just love to learn abt cars hands on with these guys
Win or lose
Guys this is an extremely effective way to teach people about cars, but in a way that doesn't feel like i'm learning. I own a car, but i'm 17 and new to cars and i'm learning a ton just by watching this series. I don't know why I felt to write this comment, just a super creative approach to something and it works.
I love you guys started this series. It's amazing the amount of time and effort your guys put into your crew and your viewers. I literally only pay a subscription to you guys and haven't regretted since. Keep up the awesome work guys can't wait when y'all's videos drop
I hope this series is to stay at least for a while, seriously enjoying it :)
finally able to get a donut video under 1 hour, also good job to Aaron for fixing the truck with nearly 1 minute to spare!
I’ve been a technician for almost a decade and I love this show. It’s great to see these techs get this done.
I remember when these were for sale for 2gs now a donor is no less than 6 I'm so jealous of this man
For real I've been trying to find a daily work truck and they want 6k for a clapped rust bucket, they're about to drop in proce through because of gas prices
@@AndrewB23 gas prices aren't going to affect the value of a collectors item lol this.
@@AndrewB23 that’s only really the case with things that aren’t classics because generally people don’t daily classics so the fuel prices don’t matter, if you do daily a classic I envy you as you are a crazy bastard.
Woah man. Jobe hitting that “nick of time!” like that scared me.
BRUH fr LMAO
my heart skipped a beat istg
I was rooting for him that's all I can say, and I'm so glad he got the truck 🎊 🤗 🎉 🏆
FOR REAL
@@icosthop9998 missing da point
This reminds me of being back in school. The instructors would “bug” cars kind of like this and have the students diagnose them. Stuff like the bad ground (bad connections) were a favorite, especially spread pins inside of connectors, because they would regularly trick people.
MY MAN AARON IS A FREAKING JENIUS MAN, HE DIAGNOSED SO QUICKLY
Realistically, we're gonna need a new set of rocker panels from the parts trunk as well as an unbent hood😂😂😂
Tell me you know 73-80 c10s without actually telling me 😂
I love this series, in this video I feel like you gave the perfect amount of hints for it. I felt like some of other ones they got hints too fast
Love this series! Keep at it. 🤘🏼
Ive watched enough of VGG to know that Derek would have it running in 10 minutes and I would fail lol
The fact that you're giving a chance to win an amazing vehicle is really cool of you, Donut.
Love this series because it teaches you some things are just that simple, or they aren’t
I love this channel and this show! entertaining and educational great stuff
FYI there is a very short bolt in the front of the engine that covers a hole that a longer bolt will lock the pushrod up so fuel pump removal and installation is easy and you do not need to fight the pushrod. It's just below the freeze plug on the front of the motor right side.
Guy: 12.6v seems low.
Crew: No it’s perfect! (Then proceeds to explain how many volts needed for each cell)
Guy: I think I need a battery! ☝️
😂
Guy is dumb. But at least he got a new distributor cap and rotor when he didn't need them and they didn't take time off. The last thing they did was tell him what to connect so it would start.
These could be the easiest from all the challenges being a classic without dealing with the electronics.
This guy is awesome hire him!!!!
The fact they were shocked when he sucked on the gas line threw me for a loop. I learned to do that so early on because it's easier than taking to time to get a hand pump
No school like the old school
In case there’s an engine being an ass with fitting the pushrod during fuel pump replacement, it’s safe to use standard “palm size”- a glob of petroleum jelly to help hold it in place. Soon as engine starts it dissipates with heat and will not harm anything, just like it doesn’t harm your hand from the friction.
15:20 the what time?
Aaron should join donut he fits in with y’all very well
I don’t know much about engines or cars at all.. and neither do my parents so they didn’t have much car knowledge to pass down to me. But the amount I learn from your videos is incredible. Not to mention how entertaining and enjoyable all you guys are to watch. Thank you, Donut ❤️ absolute top notch content creators.
Now that's something I'd definitely want to win not that I wouldn't want the others but old chevys are most of my dream cars
I'd be fucked tho I'd never fix it in time
Day 323 of asking Donut to bring old B2B back
yesss
I do miss the old B2B I wanna see those reviews again but this time with James and Jeremiah
I think it would be really cool to see a Donut Media and Doug DeMuro collaboration
