If you every have to go back to Portland, stay north of Portland in Vancouver. Washington, NOT BC. Vancouver is just on the other side of the Columbia River in Washington, and it takes about 20 minutes to drive downtown from the east side of Vancouver. But have your work get you a hotel in downtown Vancouver near I-5. The waterfront there is amazing. It’s clean, it’s safe, there are fun things to do, it’s beautiful, and it’s what Portland used to be. I’m so glad I live in Vancouver.
Funny how people from Washington bad mouth pdx but they have no problem working here, clogging up our streets and shopping here to avoid the sales tax and then gripe about paying our state income tax because they work here. How about you guys stay on your side of the river period!!
I live just north of Portland in southwest Washington and most people I know won’t even step foot in Portland anymore. We used to go all the time for concerts, restaurants/bars, shopping etc. It’s sad because it used to be nice. It’s extremely rare that I go to Seattle but last time I was there it was going downhill too.
You know you're allowed to leave right? I didn't like Wisconsin. It sucked. So I went to Portland and now I am very happy. Maybe you need to go to Wisconsin and you'll be happy.
I go to Portland a fair bit since my daughter’s ballet classes are there, and my favorite bookstore -Powells. My car is extremely difficult to steal since later model BMWs brick themselves if they think someone is trying to steal them (ask me how I know…I had a lockout service done when my key fob was stolen, and got to learn firsthand how incredibly hard it is to move a car that you can’t exactly pop into neutral to tow…). So I’m not worried about. My car being stolen. But I am on the alert for attackers, and after my last trip to Powells, for freaks sitting in corners jerking off as they watch children walk by, I have about 90 seconds of video of some pervert doing that. Portland has become so nasty and scary. Vancouver, however, has really blossomed and is amazing and safe. I walk around downtown late at night and am safe and at peace. I can’t find peace or a sense of safety even during the day in Portland anymore.
@@asuhdude6668 Would you favor forcing a Christian bookstore to carry books about Baphomet, the Kama Sutra, or And Tango Makes Three? I’m sure you wouldn’t. You’d think it goes against their freedom as American business owners to be forced to carry books they don’t agree with. Well, Powells has the same freedom. Conservative stores, like Christian bookstores, will carry conservative stuff. Liberal bookstores, like Powells, will lean toward carrying more liberal stuff. That’s part of the free market, dumbass. They both get to do what they want, and you get to choose where to spend your money, like I get to choose where to spend mine. Just because Christian bookstores carry shit I don’t agree with and won’t carry stuff that I do doesn’t mean they’re stupid places. It just means they exist to serve people like you while Powells exists to serve people like me. I'm from Canada and use to go to hockey tournaments in the states. At 14yrs old I was excited to see the country. As soon as we crossed the border I thought that I had entered a 3rd world country and the cities all suck and are filled with homeless and dilapidated factories and houses. Boston, fall river, new Bedford, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Chicago, Phillie, New Haven, Providence, new York, Indianapolis, Atlanta, L.A. I've never felt such soulless places ever. Australia is like Canada. I would move back to Australia in a heartbeat. I would go back to India or Africa, or Mexico or Italia again rather than go back to a place like New Bedford, MA. Just remembering the beat up downtown and Harbor and the PTSD from the inescapable sound of seagulls everywhere.
Greetings from Australia🦘🦘🦘Without functioning health/welfare/social services these places go off the tracks and become soulless. They pay slave wages to the working class, I can see why people end up in tents. 40 percent of homeless in America have employment? Crazy,it really has become a banana republic. I’ve been to India and at least people are lively and look quite healthy. I guess America is going through a bad patch.😢

Actually, Portland voters keep voting down funding. It’s amazing how anti-tax the idiots there are. There was a proposal fo tax business PROFITS that were OVER $50mil (so, not the first $50mil of profits, just what was over that) just 1%, with that money going to housing. It was voted down by the voters. They’re Democrats when it comes to the services they want, but very Republican when it comes to how to pay for any of it. This combination doesn’t work since it ensures nothing gets done.
@@deniseroberts5655 No, they don’t. They’re scared off from voting for most measures. When something, like an arts bond, passed, which was to be just $25 per person per year, it was as easy to get around as claiming you can’t afford it. It’s a fallacy that PDX routinely vote in favor of funding. I live just on the other side of the river in a city that intentionally does the opposite of what PDX does since that city can’t function, nor can the rest of the state. The one thing they do fund is the police department, but it’s so fucked up there that even with very high starting salaries, they can’t get many people to want to be police officers there.

I will say though that if what hes showing is supposed to be one of the better parts and it looks that trash, thats pitiful.
I've lived in so many cities around the US, both republican and Democrat led, and they're all the same. Inflation will not and does not spare anyone, no matter who you vote for. If the lack of funding and backing for supportive services continues, all cities in America will become like portland.
how do you know 60-70% of people walking around are homeless? did they tell you? have you ever heard the phrase "if you are not a part of the solution then you are a part of the problem"? maybe that's why your company sent you there, you are part of a problem and they wanted distance from you. Portland is a huge city, 100 plus square miles and you make your assumptions by walking a few blocks? Does Portland have problems? of course, they do, just like every other large city, they may even have more problems on average, but making videos only showing the bad doesn't do anything to help the problem.
Also, the decriminalization of drugs basically destroyed downtown. We've ALWAYS had homeless here. But what we didn't have was people OPENLY on the streets shooting heroin, taking shits, stealing out of cars, etc...Portlandians VOTED for this....let that sink in.....
I moved to Portland to die. I'm completely sober, never drink or smoke weed, and I'm housed for now. Something awful happened to me in 2019/2020 that spanned 9 months. I developed severe PTSD that's treatment resistant. My review of Portland: the people here are nicer than most of the country. I've lived in the north and midwest. Maybe niceness doesn't get your city cleaned of illness and chaos, but it's nice for someone moving out of a cruel area where I got ptsd. Other pros include that the food is amazing here and mental health treatment is top tier. The area is highly educated, anyone housed pretty much needs to be highly skilled to afford it. Good people and good nature. I'm enjoying my stay. It's not for everyone but unfortunately or not, a lot of lost souls find their way here.

It has indeed become a sick, putrid, wasteland. I was last there 2002-ish and it seemed like it was kind of beginning to have its problems, but it was still a gorgeous city at that point. I couldn't wait to visit again. There was an awesome retro-80's style arcade somewhere. I think it was called "Ground Kontrol"...not sure. Such a shame. I would never go back.
Ground Kontrol is pretty amazing and is still there. Powells is still there. Nothing else is worth visiting for.
Wait until it starts raining for 9 months straight. Then you’re seasonally depressed and you have to deal with the normal Portland shit.
That you think that it’s stupid that not every store will cater to you while I don’t think it’s stupid for different bookstores to cater to different demographics even when it means that there are bookstores that are guaranteed to carry nothing I want ays a lot about us-I’m the tolerance one, and you’re an intolerant, entitled asshole who whines if it’s not all about you.
That’s awesome, I think We’ll be JUST FINE *WITHOUT YOU HERE!!*
You have bigger fish to fry. Like your loss of firearms
@@WN_Byers your country might be falling apart, but as long as you have a 38 in your top draw, everything is ok? Seems to be working🤣Theres more than one way to skin a dictatorship, maybe it worked in 1861 but maybe its something else next time?
The city really is mismanaged, but 95% of Portland is beautiful and chill. I wish the downtown was.
Man it sucks to live during the downfall of your once amazing country.
It's like the collapse of Rome, but with WIFI.
Just curious - did you record this on a Sunday?
"There are no regular people walking around"/ True! a real zombie vibe!
At least you can get free needles and cheap fentanyl.
I live in Idaho (Previously CA, VA, The Netherlands) and have driven through Oregon a few times, but never stopped. Mainly because you couldn't pump your own gas. I would be unhappy if I had to stay there too. Thanks for the report.
They still have the can't pump your own gas thing?
That sounds like a law against tying your own shoes.
Austin, Texas is beginning to look like this. Homeless everywhere, free NARCAN, Democrat tax-n-spend rampage, dedicated bus lanes and squeezing out car traffic for dedicated bike lanes, grafitti everywhere, police dispatch decides if the issue warrants police response, subpar school system...........Austin is an expensive city in decline.
Democrat minds run the place, wherever they go and win, it's only a matter of time before it becomes crime, drug ridden cesspool.
What made Austin Austin has been gone for 40 years. It's just been progressive waves of its dissolution. Just just another big sprawling city that really is pretty ugly with very little to do if you like the outdoors.
@@NoelleTakestheSky You're kidding right?? People in pdx routinely vote for massive bond measures!!
That ain't bad at all , it's a lot smaller than I thought ....the worst place in America is the Badlands in Kensington , North Philly ....I shot you a like # 21 ....Zulu
he didnt go to any of the bad parts like not even close.
I dont think he went to the worst parts of portland. I saw a video of someone filming a part of portland that was even worse and multiple insane people tried to knife him and it looked like the walking dead everywhere, awful. I live in philly and at the very least we have some parts that do look nice, most of it sucks though. I will say though that if what hes showing is supposed to be one of the better parts and it looks that trash, thats pitiful.
10 or so years ago Portland was just amazing. I’m always stunned when I go back.
Portland small in comparison to Seattle so the fact that Portland is worse than Seattle just shows how shitty of a place it is
I've lived in so many cities around the US, both republican and Democrat led, and they're all the same. Inflation will not and does not spare anyone, no matter who you vote for. If the lack of funding and backing for supportive services continues, all cities in America will become like portland.
FYI population of New York City is about 8.5mill, the entire state is just under 20mill
It’s crazy how a bigger city has more reasoning than a small town
Yeah Howie... Portland is over... very, very sad😢
how do you know 60-70% of people walking around are homeless? did they tell you? have you ever heard the phrase "if you are not a part of the solution then you are a part of the problem"? maybe that's why your company sent you there, you are part of a problem and they wanted distance from you. Portland is a huge city, 100 plus square miles and you make your assumptions by walking a few blocks? Does Portland have problems? of course, they do, just like every other large city, they may even have more problems on average, but making videos only showing the bad doesn't do anything to help the problem.
He was in the “good” part of Portland, and it was still like that.
@@NoelleTakestheSkylmao no he was not. Other parts of the city are dramatically different.
Also, the decriminalization of drugs basically destroyed downtown. We've ALWAYS had homeless here. But what we didn't have was people OPENLY on the streets shooting heroin, taking shits, stealing out of cars, etc...Portlandians VOTED for this....let that sink in.....
"It's a weird social experiment that never should have happened." A popular bumper sticker reads: Keep Portland Weird. They've succeeded.
The downtown area sucks, and some other neighborhoods are pretty sketchy. There are some good parts of the city tho, mostly on the outskirts.
Lots of space on the side walks to put up a sweet tent and take a doody! Ohhhh Portland is perfect! Only a racist would thing that whole place isn't paradise! I'm thinking of getting a really big tent, some meth, and moving the family this weekend! Thanks for the beautiful tour! I can't wait to pick out my new concrete toilet home!!!!!
I'm pretty sure the city will assign you your own personal concrete toilet. Fridays is take a dump at City Hall day. If you need needles I got 600 of them given to me by the great mayor. So if I'm not there start wo me
@@Arthur-tx8fd sweet! I prefer a very flat concrete surface near or in front ofna well lit business! Soooo excited! And thanks about the needles, but im eco friendly, so prefer to just pick them off the ground and recycle! Gotta teach the youth a lesson in reusing!
What do you do for work?
Go down Hawthorne Blvd near the Baghdad Theater, cool part of town
The fact that he was in the good part to. I go to Portland here and there and it’s just so bad. We need to do something about this.
Bro Portland only as 700 thousand at tip top most that’s like a 10 of nyc pop
I have to go to Portland for work tomorrow. I always dread my monthly work trips there.
This is how bad Portland has become. Look at this debris on the ground that someone didn't pick up.. and now I too am not picking it up.
OMG there are tents on the street? Wow that's crazy 😧
Yeah, shits been real in America for the last 50 years.
@@michaelwolf8690 I live half the year in America and I've never seen tents on the streets
I am 48 and have lived here my whole life. I have never seen it so bad. Its the meth epidemic. Meth destroyed portland
Reverse measure 110. NOW. !!! Portland Oregon is a Petrie dish of bacteria that just keeps growing, and yes. I'm born and raised here
They massacred my boy
My Dad literally worked downtown for years and years and there have always been homeless downtown. ALWAYS. After a while I just got used to it and now When I'm downtown I don't feel alarmed or unsafe at all despite the tents and everything. Maybe I've got nerves of steel, but none of that shit I find at all concerning. The only thing I feel is pangs of sympathy for the plight of the homeless.
Portland got exactly what they deserve!!!!!!! boo hoo!!!!! lmao! Portland used to be amazing and now its right there with San Fran sicko
I was looking for an objective, honest option. Wish he hadn't sugar-coated it sooooo much. Please just tell me what you really think.
Portland in the 80s and 90s was Clean, safe and fun. The Democrats have ruined it with liberal policies and lawlessness. I had so much fun living and working in downtown Portland in my college days. I am saddened to see how far it's fallen. I am shocked and disgusted with your video. this is epic mismanagement of a once beautiful cosmopolitan city. I live in Anchorage alaska now and the Democrats have mismanaged it here and it's turning into a Portland. All within a short amount of time. Time for a change in leadership.
Same thing is happening to Boston. All the once great cities are turning to shit thanks to the Dems.
I must of seen ten clips on Portland and all ten said stay away..must make the mayor Happy
The Mayor cares about the wallet. Nothing else.
I haven't been to Portland in years. I'm afraid to go downtown. It used to be beautiful. Dems have turned it onto a sh!thole. Such a shame.
Ughhh!!
9 Minutes of some Weird Pretentious Bell End Complaining!!
For some Reason You still live Here & Not in any of those “46 Countries” you’ve “Visited”..
I suggest you start the process of emigrating if you think it’s so easy. I tried emigrating to Canada. No one wants Americans.
I hate living here and leaving this year! You are so right people look pissed! Highest taxes, 3rd world slums, pretentious weirdos, wacked out druggies everywhere, and gray and rain 300 dys a year.
There are large homeless camps all over the city, oftentimes right in front of people's homes.
I always laugh when I hear tourists excited to visit Portland.
Funny--you make a point of complaining about how miserable everyone is while you're walking around with a miserable attitude, actively seeking out things to be miserable about 😃. Cool take
You must live in that shit hole.
#PortlandSucks
"I'm going to let the video speak for itself" you say?
Seattle my city,Portland ,San Fran & LA are fast becoming Sh%t Holes! The residents of these cities are to blame electing the same candidates & political party. Insanity!!
Oakland's been a crap show nearly half a century. Now the rest of the west coast is following its lead!
It was fantastic when I lived there 20+ years ago.
With the locals attitude, I’m surprised it’s not worse
Portland's alright if you like saxaphones! 🎷
The Summer of LOVE!!!!...... It's a Worker's Paradise! ⚰️
Sudan doesn't have the fentanyl or enourmous amounts of cheap meth like portland. You really need to learn about how much meth and fentanyl have completely changed the entire West Coast since 2015. Doesn't matter if they recriminalize it it's not going away anytime soon especially in the vast amounts and how cheap both of those substances are. If ignorance was a commodity and paid dividends you would be set for life😂
Check out the graffiti everywhere not just downtown, Plywood boarded windows and homeless camps everywhere not just downtown , Close businesses and cyclone fencing shows the ruin of a city. Do not be fool by a simple walk. Crime is high, and Car jacking is regular. Walmart left on 82street. Closing of stores and restaurant should let you know. A lot famous restaurants are not rebuilding.
Billions and billions to Ukraine though! Makes total sense.
The peoblem in Portland has NOTHING to do with money.
Apparently they don't even have the forecourt fountain running anymore.
downtown portland was so much more normal before 2020. wow
Want to change this? Stop voting liberal and refund the police. This is all the voters fault.
The trees are awesome and the city used to be great. Neighborhoods still are, I bet. Some folks need intervention, whether it be help or a structured environment. Each is a cry for attention.
This is what socialism looks like
I get what youre saying about NY city, but theres only about 10 million people in that city, not 20 million.
Democrat destroyed:
All of the normies that have laughed at us CTs are not laughing now...
take it easy. downtown is still fun. i notice you are there making money showing it so...
Go out towards Gresham, Troutdale. It’s beautiful, only bout 30 min from downtown.
No, it’s not quit lying. I went to Mount Hood for community college. Portland is a trash place in a general sense.
Yea portland a ghost town now, same for seattle sadly, i miss the old days
And this an American city ? How sad.
There’s literally nothing good left in Portland, I’ve lived here since 1988 and I go to Portland about once a year.it is infested with bad people all around. I been looking to move, what city and state would you recommend for me?
It's a great beer city if you're a beer lover.
portland is bad, still, one month of exploring was fun and all, lots of potential really lots of new places to explore, but it’s torn of by homeless people and trash, there always active social areas that look good, I really liked this area by the docks, has little shops at the docks, and some parts around pearl district, pioneer square is mid but active with people ask around. 😂
welcome to wokedom come to your town and city if you let it
Well when you walk under bridges and mainly hangout in old town/china town that’s what you’ll see. Basically the tenderloin of Portland and hasn’t ever really been an area I’d recommend people visit. The northwest corner of downtown/Pearl district is much more active and real ones know the east side is where the magic is. Based on your negative and dismissive attitude you seem to just be rooting for Portland’s downfall, so fine - stay away. You won’t be missed. You’ll be missing out on all the James Beard award-winning restaurants, world-class parks and some of the coolest artists and entrepreneurs in the country. Your loss.
Go to Gilda's Italian restaurant. It'll make everything better.
Crazy Elliot Rodgers Vibes
Portland used to be an awesome city. Great music and food.....
for some reason the tourism guides send people right into the social services area. don't try the doughnuts.
Plus ya only walked what 20 block radious as well lol but this is a humanity problem not political
If I had a criticism for you it would be that you're walking around Old Town but the truth of the matter is they've allowed everywhere to get bad so concentrating on the worst and it's not even that bad I Know Places between I'm at and downtown Portland that are almost as bad but the very worst is in downtown Portland what I'm afraid of is that my hometown is never going to come back and I think that's what's happening and I know it's happening all over the West Coast put Portland is the test case it's the one that everyone is pointing for good reasons I was best little mile from the river on the east side not a mile and a quarter from the federal courthouse so I would hear the explosions going on as well as I was watching it the craziness that was going on in downtown Portland it looks like a scene from hell all of the tear gas and the fires and the it was just I don't know where to start coming back again Portland over and now it's going to erupt again another Summer of Love
