My best friend from high school has been living in Portland for the past 14 years. Blame the homelessness on the past 7 years of the city jacking up its cost of housing to double what it was. In just a couple of years time (around 2016 - 2018) was the biggest spike mind you. A house that was worth $350K is now worth $700K. No one there can afford that. That goes for rentals too. It's mostly LLC's buying up real estate the past 2 years. I know this because my friend kept getting way overbid by them every time he was interested in buying a house. He had to give up the ghost & him, his wife & his daughter had to move to Tigard because these LLC's would go way over asking price. I love all the people getting on here getting political about it when they have absolutely no idea what has really happened there. When you exponentially jack up the cost of living & wages don't match the costs, then this is what happens.

But instead of sitting at home knocking out disingenuous diatribes against a RUclipsr who's done well, Adam gets out there and shows the best - and often the quirkiest - of places, always upbeat and smiling with an infinite curiosity to explore. What have you done for Portland?
This is what happens when liberals runs cities.
@@dukeofhaas I believe she was talking about the Kreeper guy, not Adam.

Best video ever .
My wife and I loved getting food from the place next to the original Mary's (there was an interior door in the back that connects the two), sitting down with an adult beverage and some good grub, whilst enjoying the ladies dancing.
Come to Portland, free camping and get your car A/C adjusted at no charge while you are shopping!
Is Ground Kontrol still open? It is a must see if you are still in Portland today. Also, the view from the WSU Vancouver campus across the river is spectacular, and Timberline Lodge is the model for the hotel seen in the Nicholson "The Shining". So many wonderful things, but don't be fooled -- living there sucks.
We were there in July 2022 and Ground Kontrol was still open. Awesome place!
Camo Dave would have LOVED this! Great video!
Powells is the largest independent bookstore in the US, takes up the entire block and is 4 stories tall in some places. Incredible place! It's so sad what Portland has become. I grew up about 80 miles south and it was such a beautiful spot to come for a day or a weekend. No more...
Wait. You were in Guttermouth?! And all this time I was watching you for your travel videos. Most excellent. Can I Borrow Some Ambition is still one of my favorites 💚
MY GOODNESS! STAY SAFE! I was in Portland walking 6 blocks between the train station (absolutely beautiful) and the rent a car...was the most scariest walk I had since patrolling our basecamp boarder in the military. Very scary.
Was thinking same thing. He needs to carry a pepper spray or something of the sort.
The area around Union Station has gotten scary in the last few years, but the rest of the city isn't like that.
I hope you come back someday Adam! The city is going through it but it looks and feels WAY better than when you filmed this video. We've made a lot of progress.
I picked up a BRER RABBIT, BRER BEAR, BRER FOX vinyl record from "Song of the South " today for $2.50 . Stay safe there
hello, my friend, thank you for sharing this amazing tour and experience. I find it so soothing and relaxing to watch after long and stressful days at work. Coming home, press play, and sitting down on the couch with a fluffy dog sounds the best to let the stress of the day vanish in this experience. Thank you for creating and sharing this video with us, :) Great work
Klearski and The Woo!!!! Finally! What a collaboration. This is awesome. Thank you.
I'm a medical courier in PDX and I've noticed over the last few weeks that things are SLOWLY starting to get better. Slowly being the key word. I noticed it while training another courier on my route, and he couldn't get over how so many curbside homeless camps have vanished almost overnight. God, I hope it's true.
That outdoor store is a classic 👍😎 that voodoo donuts 🍩 is tasty 😋 thanks for sharing Adam so awesome, your friend at the beginning of this vlog was crazy 😧 lol. Stay safe and take care.
Lots of info, fun, and a interesting friend....
Oregon was never really on my list of places to go except to see the Goonies spots but these videos are making an Oregon trip a necessity!
I drove through Oregon, stopped at the goonies spots.....Portland was a let down but Oregon was pretty fun....good weed, beer, and food for sure.
I live in Portland and would skip it... Columbia River Gorge, Crater Lake, Timberline Lodge are worth the visit.
@@Mattsc1974 I think the spruce goose is also worth a visit. Love the gorge.
One of the prettiest areas in the country. Born and raised here. Come in late summer or fall, you’ll get sunshine. Mt Hood, the Gorge, mountain lakes, rivers. Portland Saturday market if you like the city life.
Not an outdoorsy man?
Love the recent travel vlogs!!!
Glad you went there than me, the whole city looks sketchy as hell.
I once thought seriously about moving to Portland. I was living in Denver at the time. Then I found out how pricey it is to live in Portland, so I’ll have to just visit someday. 😎👍
Escape from NY pizza is always a fun place. Nice job showing the sites and sounds of Portland.
Escape is the BEST!!!
Love Phil
Jeez, Portland is a dying dump. Tents on sidewalks, have to have the cleanup crew cleaning poop off the sidewalks. Trams and busses running around, virtually empty. Huge waste of money. Used to be clean and energized, now full of boarded up businesses and crime.
The reason people of PNW don't use umbrellas is because of the gust of winds we get. It turns the umbrellas inside out.
Now you were even closer, would have been great to meet you. I am a 69 yr.old Portland native who doesn’t want to leave my hometown but things have gotten sketchy here. 😢
I’ll stick to the VooDoo in city walk thanks! Stay safe Adam!
That city looks like it can be sketchy often. And that's just during the day. I can only imagine at night.
I was just at that voodoo donuts. The area actually looks much better now. The KitKat was a lot of fun too 😂😂.
Ya I lived there in the 90’s and it was a smorgasbord of bars great food and peeps !!👍🏻😎🇺🇸🦅im sure there’s some good places still along with peeps there though😜
This was a fun one to watch! You could not have had a better tour guide!
I can't believe you met Carlos Martinez!
So many better places to go in the state dude… Portland just continues to fall apart
Portland is awesome. You should look at cities in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi. If you want to see cities and states that are falling apart.

People breaking into cars is normal in Portland now that's what happens when you decriminalize crime and Portland looks terrible and that pizza is the only thing that looks good in Portland.
Thank you Adam...
Amazing what people tolerate and normalize
I had to watch to the end to make sure you made it out ok...😉
Ooow that looked like the perfect pizza slice 🍕. 👍
This is such a great video! Although I do have a soft spot in my heart for cities/places that look like this...better than new condos and high rises everywhere...maybe it's because I feel like it's more honest? I'm not sure, but either way, really enjoyable to me!
Agree! It's sad to me the way so many big city downtowns and other business districts and even residential neighborhoods have become so much more alike and generic in nature I recent decades.
That pizza looked good! I enjoyed the video. Thank you!
Bummed you didn’t go into Powell’s. It’s the Mecca for indie bookstore lovers! It is spectacular! Very large and they give you a map when you go in!
I don’t think Adam is much of a reader.
I'll always remember going to a party in high school at Tres's house and he was freaking out in the basement on shrooms. lmao. Pretty much everyone was tripping but he was really tripping! X-Ray cafe! Travis Kurtz. The Rolling Stones cover band too.
Funny to think and my 90s grunge band and I tried to move to Seattle, it was too expensive, so we went to Portland, and it was too nice, so we moved back to L.A. 🤣
The term you're looking for is light rail. If you love public transit, you should utilize it in your travels!
Thanks for the video. Sad to see Portland in such a sad state of decay. Its starting to look like SF and LA.
