    Just found this channel after 42 years of suffering with stomach problems TMJ osteoarthritis nerve pain headaches. Ive been doing meditation, variuos relaxation techniques, vagal nerve reset counseling to name a few as I have been told over the years its psychosomatic and thus has been due to stress. But severe shoulder pain this year and sciatica in my leg caused me to type in for the first into Yoitube...please help me with chronic pain. Quite a few things came up and eventually your channel appeared...never heard of this before. Ive had a massive light bulb monent and it brought me to tears. My life has been boxed in for all these years with many restrictions with me being unable to expalin to my friends and family what is wrong with me. Im now filled with hope and just started this journey 2 days ago. Thankyou so much❤

Despite what feels like a slow recovery (mecfs, fibromyalgia, etc), I've gotten enough improvement this year and finally a fairly solid belief system but there's still plenty of 'fake it til you make it' days. Such a meaningful topic today and so true:
    "Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning."

    Even before I started making the assessment, I already KNEW what the outcome would be. I've known for years that my pains are coming from my brain, from supressed emotions, from unsafe experiences. But doctors repeatedly told me: "There is nothing we or you can do to stop this; you need to learn to live with the pain. Here, take these painkillers/anti depressants/ muscle relaxers". I quit using pain medication a few years ago. I did not think that taking pills daily was doing something for me, except making me heavily depended of them. I always thought that there must be something I COULD do but didn't know how. Today I came across your page and now I know : Now it is time to reconfigure my brain.

    Hi Dan
    Thanks for your work. You’ve helped me a lot on pain specific problems, ankle pain most specifically.
    On non specific TMS symptoms ie feeling irrationally stressed out, anxiety in the belly etc can we treat these exactly the same?
    I’m talking about the irrational feelings that we can trace back to our childhood traumas. I’m not talking about horrific trauma but all that baggage we pick up from dysfunctional families, bad parenting etc that we can trace back to when we were small people. These feelings can impact upon our wellbeing and the way we parent our own children!!
    Do you think that for such feelings that the TMS approach would suffice ie feel the feeling, accurate knowledge , self soothing etc or do you think that a inner child therapy work is needed.
    You’ve probably covered it on another video but it’s just something that was on my mind today as I’m battling with raising two teenagers and my own chaotic thoughts and feelings 😜 Perhaps an idea for another video on this if it suits you
    All the best.

My body “reads” danger before I even know what the danger might be. Even listening to a few of your talks has my body shaking internally as words can be “triggers”… Even written words triggers a deep stress and pain…. It can come on in a split second and I feel I’m going to faint… I have many “diagnoses” one is CRPS/CPTSD… I’m super sensitive to everything, energy, people, can’t go into shopping centres without feeling unwell. I know I have many unprocessed emotions stored in my body…

    Does anyone notice once they make a decision to get better the symptoms ramp up for a little while? I decided today and for the last couple of hours it seems like they’re coming on even stronger… But I keep telling myself it’s TMS and I’m ok! Just curious if anyone noticed about how long to get better and reduce symptoms getting rid of them for good.. thank you!

    Dan is it true that the brain sees emotions are a danger … anger .. frustration… sadness… irritated

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Год назад +3

      Yes, the brain can certainly see emotions as danger. Among many other things. Teaching safety is the solution. How do you teach the brain emotions are safe? Feel them freely, without judgement and not getting stuck on the story underneath the emotions. My fast start playlist will help. DansFastStart.com

    This is the main obstacle for me. The diagnoses I've received; post concussive syndrome of central basis, POTS, and fluid in right inner ear; are what keep me from fully believing my symptoms are PDP. The symptoms of dizziness, brain fog, cognitive impairment, etc being SO intense and odd make it nearly impossible to function normally. The symptoms wax and wane, which makes me wonder if it really is PDP, but then I think concussive symptoms and inner ear issues can also wax and wane, and I know for certain that POTS symptoms typically wax and wane.
    I've taken the assessment, scored 41, and answered yes to several questions on the FIT assessment...yet I'm still uncertain because of the overlap between PDP and the the waxing and waning nature of the diagnoses I've received. I've received replies from Dan that my symptoms MIGHT be PDP even with a score of 41. This is in no way a slight to Dan at all, it just feeds more into my uncertainty. Dan deserves a peace prize for his incredible dedication to helping others.
    So on the one hand, I scored high on the assessment and answered "yes" to several FIT questions, yet I know that there is fluid in my inner ear and I'm still concussed after an accident 3 years ago. So...which is it? Is it really PDP? Or is this from the fluid and concussion? THAT is the bit that makes me struggle with fully believing with unshakable belief that it's PDP.
    What concerns me is that this isn't PDP and no matter how much I try to implement this advice, that it won't work. I don't want to be stuck like this for the rest of my life. It's stolen my quality of life and peace of mind.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Год назад +2

      What is the medical solution? If none, you have literally nothing to lose by trusting your body and TEACHING your brain you are safe and okay. Make a decision that this is TMS/PDP. I don't recall saying anyone with a 41 score MIGHT be PDP. I'm fairly convinced that if symptoms behave like TMS/PDP as shown by a high score, that's what it is. If I gave you a wishy washy answer, let me correct that. THE 41 and the yes answers on the FIT assessment are your answer, It's PDP. Treat it as such. Resolve the fear. Fear and deciding you MAY be broken is not helpful to getting well and teaching your brain you are okay. Again, there is NO downside to teaching your brain that you are okay. And if that concussion was a long time ago, the body and brain has healed. Make the decision. I know you can get well.

      @@PainFreeYou Thank you, Dan. You didn’t use the word “might”. You said something along the lines of, I can’t say for certain that’s what’s causing this for me. And that’s fair. The 41 I scored on the test was for my back pain. I retook the test and answered the questions pertaining to my concussion symptoms and I scored 27. So I’m confident my back pain is TMS/PDP, but I’m no so confident about the concussion stuff. Either way, I appreciate you greatly. I know it must be exhausting to answer the same questions over and over.

      No worries. I want to be clear. How long ago was the concussion? What proof do you have that the symptoms are from the head injury? @@IndialienJones

      @@PainFreeYou 3 years ago for the first accident and 2 years ago was the second one. I had an eye test at the neurologist a week or so ago. I had to watch a small movie playing on a screen as it moved around the edge of the screen clockwise. A score of 10-20 indicates concussion. I scored 13.7. I really want this to be PDP. I feel like the concussions should have healed by now but I know some people have lasting symptoms for years. I don’t want to give up hope.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Год назад +1

      I understand that the score indicates concussion. However, what proof do you have that the head injury is the cause of the symptoms currently? Many of the symptoms you listed are common TMS/PDP symptoms. Again, you have ZERO downside to treating the symptoms as Perceived Danger Symptoms. I'm curious - did any of your symptoms get worse after your eye test? If so, the fear of the result is driving the symptoms more than any physical result of the concussion. @@IndialienJones

    This is great Dan, just what I need right now. Is there a video on self esteem and confidence? Over the years of PDP, I don't feel very likeable. Very common. When you convince the brain the symptoms are not important or dangerous, they go away. But you still have a brain on high alert which will find some other PERCEIVED danger. The sooner you recognize it as also not a big deal, the sooner that new symptom will fade.

      That that means is that you did an exceptional job teaching your brain your main symptoms were not an issue. However, many of us still have a brain on high alert and so the brain finds and perceives danger elsewhere. Stick with it and treat new symptoms with little to no concern. Teach safety overall. I have it since when i was a kid, i see that at the end of the day its all about percieving danger, like thinking that you will get sick if you don t wash your hands 30 times. But is this method really enough to treat that kind of a paychological disorder? Help me to clarify that please Dan. Thank you.
