    Good work mate but I must say the gravel on the bottom is going to cause you nothing but problems later on as all the fish waste and wasted food will sink beneath and in between the stones making water quality bad and it a pain to clean I’d also recommend not filling it as much as the fish will jump

  • @Michael-m4y
    @Michael-m4y 3 года назад +1

    Hi Mate pretty god job , but you might want to think about running that decking board over the top of the glass as fish jump and you don't want them dying on you

    Fantastic looking pond pal. I was down kidsgrove aquatics yesterday. I put the same stones in the bottom of my pond when I first dug it. Only problem is the amount of dirt that gets stuck in them. I'm taking mine out in the next few weeks. Hopefully will improve my water quality. That bigger koi is going to be a big fish.

    Get yourself a water test kit, and don’t add to many fish at once as your filter won’t be able to break down the ammonia that your new fish will produce. I’m only 17 myself and I can remember wanting to buy all my fish as soon as I finished but patience is key.

    Been following your build. Good job and impressed with the build and getting it ready for fish. Now it's time to learn all about keeping Koi.. My channel is made for new Koi pond keepers, so there should be some videos or Vlogs on there that might help with your learning curve? New pond syndrome should be a good one to start with? Keep up the good work.... Every day is school day...😉👍👍

    It’s just popped into my head mate. but have you thought of putting some netting over the pond incase birds try and eat your fish. It happened to my mate he has a pond with some little gold fish and some little koi and 2 of his gold fish got eaten by a bird.

    Also be prepared that the water may go green a little as the spring sunshine starts to encourage algae, but that won’t be too problematic if you keep checking your parameters & watching how much you feed while your filters get established

    How thicks the glass bud?
    Cracking little project you've done, you might regret the gravel. Nightmare to keep clean.
    What about a couple tench? Maybe a small sturgeon?
    If be careful bringing any plants "from the local pond". Bring in all sorts of new bacteria your pond wouldn't normally see. Also, can get you into trouble...be careful.
    Keep at it!💪

    You should try fasting them, its called power feeding method. So, basicly u dont feed them for like 1/2 or 1 day full and feed them the next day but with small amount of food. This method is used for enhancing their confidence to come up and having a better digestion system. You can fast them for 2 days, and feed them the next day also but always keep an eye on them. Great video btw!

    great effort well done...... i will say though the gavel on the bottom will probably cause you nothing but issues in the long term, when you do a major clean on the pond id remove it. it makes it impossible to keep the pond clean and healthy

    100% gonna leak! I've done this myself . You need to use a rubber liner to seal the window. The silicone doesn't stick to that type of liner .

    Feed your fish gingerly mate. You should buy a couple fish at a time with a new pond as you need to build up your filters bio. Ul get new pond syndrome so you will have to keep a close eye on ya parameters. And when you use up your test kit get the api test kit it’s around 25 quid, those test strip ones are not very accurate. It’s a big learning curv mate I got my pond three years ago now , and the hardest time is new pond and in spring. Follow a dude called dazzle koi! He explains stuff well! All da best boyoo

    • @charles29cc

There are lots of benefits of using pebbles in your pond, and this handy little blog will help to explain these advantages… Not only do pond pebbles keep your water clean, they create a natural looking bottom layer and help to provide a safe habitat for your fish.
